Jerry also doesn't consider the sheer amount of power in granting someone mercy. World War I started with a single bullet. If the leader of a nation were assassinated, or killed even in the process of a war, it rallies others behind the lost leader. Like was said further up in the thread, a martyr. But the flip side is if a leader, or many soldiers are spared death, it sends a message to the populace at large that surrender, or at least a cease in attacks, may not result in the loss of innocents.

TL;DR If you spare the leader of the country, why wouldn't you spare the rest of the populace.

The ending of ATLA was bad because the pacifist protagonist chose not to murder a dictator.
Kora was bad because the Dictator wasn't nuanced enough
Steven Universe is bad because the Dictators have nuance.
late seasons MLP is bad because reformed villains in a show called Friendship is Magic.
But "it's only a problem if the writers make it a problem" flies in the face of her entire career of (very poorly)show casing bad writing.

Steven Universe is supposedly Nazi Apologia, but based on "if the writers make it a problem" the fact that the diamonds are feeling bad about what they've done shouldn't be a problem because the writers choose to have them do that so therefore there shouldn't be a problem wit ha story of bad people realising what they've done.

The fact that so many villains in mlp being reformed and forgiven for transgressions they make after being reformed in a show called friendship is magic shouldn't be a problem because the writers choose to make it something that is not a problem.

2. No shit that they're not gonna exactly make the relationship life-threatening because KIDS are watching it. That's the same reason why they didn't outright told us that they're dead but it's very obviously implemented.

And how so isn't their relationship real? We see Bright Mac stay up a whole night to help Pear with her chores as a surprise for her in the morning. We see him giving up his health and hat to leave her dry in the rain. She gave up her own family to be with him.

Now it's not that they die in the end like Romeo and Juliet but it's still a forbidden love, even without the extremes. There is extreme prejudice and bias between the Apples and the Pears, something that Jerry should be delighted about and could throw "Nazi" at Grand Pear. When families hate each other, it can just be as hard for two lovers to be together because they don't want to disappoint their fam-

The thing about Forbidden Love stories like Romeo and Juliet or West Side Story is

1. They’re tragedies
   
2. They’re forbidden because they’re a risk to eachother’s safety

In The Perfect Pear, there is no risk. Just their parents being mad at each other and literally nothing else.

One would think you'd be entirely aware of this being an lgbt person, but I guess since the two characters are heterosexual straight characters that would go buzzing right over your head.

Additionally, it’s not even a developed relationship. Some paint-huffing dipshit might scream “IT WAS DEVELOPED OVER TIME” but that “over time” was in a montage showing them growing up and gawking at each other. We know nothing about their relationship other than the fact that they love each other.

Kids Show. 22 minute Timeslot. in a show where multipart episodes are reserved for the big adventure blowouts at the start and end of every season. I know hypothetically if I asked what yo expect the writers to do ytou'd probably say "not fucking write it" but what did you expect the writers to do? write multiple episodes to flesh out Pear Butter and Bright Mac's teen romance? a montage exists for the fucking time constraint and people saying "it was developed over time" is just part of the suspension of disbelief created by seeing time pass like that.

This wouldn’t be a problem if it weren’t for the fact that the same people baying at the moon about how great this is also pretend that Cadance and Shining Armor are a terrible couple because they have the exact same relationship dynamic.

On the one hand this might be valid. but then part of the argument abour the latter couple being to perfect probably comes from the fact they're just introduced from nowhere and we basically get two flashbacks to establish them, and then thats basically it. Meanwhile it could be argued Applejacks parents getting better treatment could be argued it was literally established far early in the show that AJ had parents, who are not alive anymore.

This whole episode’s appeal is about confirming the dead parents headcanon and also giving people the “AJ’s Parents” episode they’d been baying at the moon over. They were going to praise it regardless and make up reasons to do so if they had to.

"It exists because people wanted it to exist, and the writers were willing to make it happen" I mean isn't this the reason literally everything exists? And "confirming the headcanon" means nothing, it was straight up implied in a handful of episodes prior, and straight up confirmed by the creator of the show, and the writers.

Funny thing is that Josh is the one getting married for real. He didn't make a proposal over Skype, but did it face-to-face and actually got a ring for Kelsey. Furthermore, he's actually going through the process of the ceremony and the license, instead of just telling everyone that Kelsey is his wife. To be entirely fair on that, Lily does bitch about the How of Starlight's reformation as well. She calls it "snapshot reformation", or something like that, and is generally pissy about how the villains get reformed at the end of the episode.

The obvious alternative would be more drawn out reformations happening over multiple appearances of the reforming villain, where their worldview and motivations are challenged and disproven by the protagonists.
But that would require more adventure episodes for that villain to be an antagonist in, which is another thing that Lily is violently opposed to.
If she had her way, MLP would've probably cut out all the villains, two-parters, and Elements of Harmony, and revolved entirely around the mundane Slice Of Life friendship problems of mundane people.

One could take that as an artistic choice, but I think it's more that Lily just sucks at writing or enjoying anything mildly creative or adventurous.
Her "Tales of the Val'kyr" is, by setting and cast choice, pretty much set up for magical space adventures with epic, explody fight scenes and outlandish villains.
Instead she focuses pretty much entirely on mundane romance Slice Of Life between characters who are pretty unremarkable once you take away all the Immortal Magical Warrior aspect of them.

To to mention the way she hates the idea of any kind of heavy theme being expressed in any way other than direct mundane translation of it.
MLP if bad, because it uses villains and adventure arcs to teach about friendship instead only using of mundane problems between normal people.
Steven Universe is bad, because it uses a Space Empire and Magical Space Rocks to teach about LGBT issues and abusive families, instead of just being about normal LGBT people and abusive families.
Star vs The Forces of Evil is bad, because it uses the Monsters to teach about racism, instead of just having Mundane Hispanic Protagonist Guy Marco deal with racism in current day America.

Shortly after I moved into the building, I was carrying some soundproofing foam and she helped me get it inside. She asked what it was for and I explained I did with it and how it worked.

She asked if it was possible to use foam to block out sound from the outside, since she’s an Afghanistan veteran and the Canada Day fireworks are really triggering for her (the building is right next to the waterfront). I told her it was possible with enough foam and a few other things.

Now every year on Canada Day I spend the entire afternoon helping her set up soundproofing around her bedroom so she can wait out the fireworks. We’d been hanging out intermittently the last few years, but we really started hanging out regularly just last month.

I doubt it. She’s gorgeous and I’m gay, but neither of us really feels that way about the other. Even then, I’m not ready to do that yet. Everything that happened in 2018 completely destroyed my self-worth and self-respect, and while I’ve been doing a lot better I’m still recovering.

Shortly after I moved into the building, I was carrying some soundproofing foam and she helped me get it inside. She asked what it was for and I explained I did with it and how it worked.

She asked if it was possible to use foam to block out sound from the outside, since she’s an Afghanistan veteran and the Canada Day fireworks are really triggering for her (the building is right next to the waterfront). I told her it was possible with enough foam and a few other things.

Now every year on Canada Day I spend the entire afternoon helping her set up soundproofing around her bedroom so she can wait out the fireworks. We’d been hanging out intermittently the last few years, but we really started hanging out regularly just last month.

See I never really thought of it that way. If I have the ability to help someone, I kinda feel like I have to. That’s why I always walk around with several $20 bills on me in case there are homeless people hanging out by No Frills, or I just kinda give people my spare money if and when they need it.

Earlier I posted about being a college student’s best friend, and that’s because when my friends need something replaced but can’t afford do, I usually replace it for them without question.

It’s actually a really bad habit because I end up getting myself into problematic financial situations because of it.
