This is the part I'm pondering; I know Bodhi and Susan are only gone a few days, but can she bill IHSS while she's getting her own treatment and not caring for him? Knowing her, she'll bill anyway because she's gotten away with leaving B in hospital and billing like he's home before. Will she also bill for Jani even though she's with Cory?

But if by any chance the facility says B needs to stay and she can go home and get him later, she'll be SOL in a week. Jani doesn't warrant the same level of care, and when it's just Jani there's less than half the money (she is less disabled, her disability level of income is lower) and no daily ABA (Susan often has them work with Jani, too, to relieve her of the job).

And what will Cory do while Jani is home with him? He certainly won't arrange sitters, and past experience says he won't feed her. Let's hope he doesn't also take her phone to avoid her calling Michael with pesky details like "there's no food in the house".

@Rosa_Rojo , @JanusJupiter , can Michael teach Jani how to set up Skype on her iPad? That way, she has an emergency phone line to her father even if Cory cuts her off.

It's only a two day visit and it doesn't look like they have overnight stays (look at the hours on their website), so Screechy will have to hotel up with Thing #2 for the visit. It sounds like they probably will fly out today, hotel up, and be examined Wednesday & Thursday and probably take an early morning Friday flight home. So don't worry, Harpy will still get her government cheese.

I think he just did that cuz i was 17 and fully capable of just going someplace else. He just wanted me gone and not buying food was a good way to make sure I stopped coming home altogether. I dont think he would do this in Janis case she cant go elsewhere and take care of herself. And it would look really bad if he lost her while shes only in his care a few days.

Dang I hope so. I hope her irresponsible parents have taught her at least some level of self care. I dont think its appropriate for jani to be left alone in his care simply because he just isnt qualified or trustworthy to deal with such a situation. And like it was mentioned he will need to schedule a sitter, what if he doesnt think about that and just leaves her home alone?

She still has an aide to help her shower and groom; her parents never taught her these things. There is video of Jani brushing her own hair by counting how many times she needs to brush each section; it was apparently such a momentous accomplishment that Susan recorded this on Jani's 15th birthday. But she apparently still needs help. Now, whether that's because Susan tells Jani she's so schizo and gross she'd never be able to do it on her own, or because Jani is actually incapable, is anyone's guess. Maybe being left to her own devices for a couple days will show Jani that she's capable of much more self care than she thinks.

Or maybe she'll be distraught and helpless and Cory will ignore her. I guess we'll fine out. Poor kid, she'd been infantilized and overdosed her whole life and now she gets a couple days of trial by fire.

I'll put out all my rainbow ratings and hope Jani is stronger than any of us thinks.

@KeepHopeAlive and @Rosa_Rojo I believe it mentioned they showed the inside of Susan’s apartment on the show? Had she tried to clean it even a bit or was it the same squalid shit show as always? How did the audience react to seeing her burrow? I know she tried to cry poor, but poor doesn’t prevent cleaning. Did she try to say Dr Phil should pay someone to clean it if he didn’t like it? (Her typical response to comments telling her to clean her apt)

FWIW I think she is. I have every reason to believe she spends a lot of her time at home these days alone in her room. She's expressed sadness that Bohdi gets all of the attention and we know from videos that Susan calls her out of her room for things at times. Maybe I'm too optimistic but I believe there's a lot more going on in her mind then she says in any video or any other venue we may be witness to. I think she's actually used to keeping herself occupied alone and out of trouble.

Jani has requested a couple of times during filming to go back to her room or to go eat- I'm sure one was the video where she is opening gifts from Michael, the other about Ryders new tank set up.

This on top of the incontinence the drugs cause. That’s why the stereotype of a schizophrenic person is someone who is filthy and smelly. When you’re constantly in a med fog it can be hard to give a shit about showering.

Behavioral and psychosocial therapies, and things like checklists, can help patients re-learn how to maintain basic cleanliness, but the Schofields have never cared about those kinds of treatments.

On Michael’s blog he once wrote in detail about how he had to provide step by step instructions about showering to Jani every day: wash this body part, wash that one, etc.

Lack of hygiene is not associated with use of antipsychotics. Schizophrenics, psychotic bipolar people, and depressed people often have issues with executive functioning and taking care of day to day activities. Schizophrenia is marked by erratic behavior and sometimes catatonia, both leading to issues with self care.

Jani has hygiene issues because Susan wants her to have that disheveled look. She was never taught proper hygiene skills as a kid. This is confounded with the brain damage, of course, but I wouldn't say antipsychotics are why real schizophrenics have hygiene issues. They can be life savers for real schizophrenics and other people living with true psychotic disorders.

Hi all,

This is @ibewwife1990 's mom, Nancy. I'm in the process of getting verified and already submitted a thread on the Talk to Us forum. I've been a lurker on this thread for over a year. Kelli and I have been conversing over the past couple of days regarding this latest development and her involvement and I just have to say she is courageous for speaking up and I agree with everything that she's said about Cory.

I guess I'm speaking up now because the latest things that Cory has been posting just made me sick to my stomach, especially as a mother of 2 children on the spectrum myself. I don't know if there's anything I can contribute, but if there is, please let me know.

In the meantime I will keep Bodhi and Jani in my thoughts and prayers.
