And so nothing of value was learned. Again.

Okay first, I'll give one tiny little point to Amber. While in theory she could consume nothing but water for years and survive on the fat alone, there is a problem with consuming less than about 1500 calories a day regularly. Your body doesn't just absorb its own fat at that point, it will absorb muscle mass too indiscriminantly because you are technically starving. Now for a normal human that's not too horrible, you can work out a little more, but for Amber the ONLY thing allowing her to stand up at all is the natural muscle that a deathfat builds from carrying their own weight every day.

That said, this was somehow even more predictable than usual. She didn't even try to do the song and dance of pretending she was still on the diet and lying for weeks before admitting to failure, she just gave the fuck up before the week was up. This was like a failure speed run. You could see it from day one she was excitedly lying about how good that shit bar tasted, to just the next day where everything tastes like garbage. And the complaints of headaches and lack of energy and feeling sick (aka food addiction withdrawel).

The way I imagine Amber's relationship to food is something like... For her whole life she's been fed the food equivilant to crack cocaine. Nasty, disgusting, incredibly concentrated stuff meant to jack yo' up, or in this case make you feel bloated and heavy. She thinks a hit of crack every 20 minutes is normal, she can't live without it. Now when she tries to eat like a normal human the withdrawels kick in, normal food is like low dose childrens tylenol or a slight caffeine buzz. That aint gonna cut it for an addict. So like any addict, she likes her drug of choice, it makes her feel good.. it's probably the only thing that makes her feel good now that she's a big fat hollow shell of a human being who can barely function, and she's going to keep on hitting that good orange chicken til it kills her.

I feel like I'm on loop, but does anyone else see the Amber Lynn Reid story ending any other way?

In the video she made about her dietician blocking her, she admits that the only reason she lost the infamous 89 lbs was because she was eating around 900 calories a day. I guess she "forgot" about that :story: She knows what she's doing though, guys.

She doesn't have a food problem, she has an honesty problem (or as my grandma would say, she has "a tenuous relationship with the truth"). She's so busy keeping track of the lies she tells us, she forgets what the truth even was, and starts lying to herself too, and believing her own lies.

There's no hope for her until she actually accepts what needs to be done - ie that she needs to give up all control over her diet to another entity until she can develop the discipline needed to not eat All The Things, and the skills to understand what drives her to do it in the first place, and find a healthy coping mechanism.

She needs more than a diet. She needs fucking rehab, honestly. Accountability. Someone to measure every morsel that goes in her mouth, to force her to be honest with herself, every hour of every day, until she gets her shit together.

I ain't holding my breath though. She's a lost cause at this point.

For somebody who has done hours and hours and hours of research she was pretty ignorant to the amount of calories the program would have her eating. Also; does anybody else chuckle with the way she calls it "on program" as if it's some medically approved diet. It's literally a MLM. It's not a medical approved diet/program or whatever. It's a scam, lol. Stop trying to dress it up to something it's not.

The problem with Amber is that she eats because she has nothing else to do. She mainly sits at home all day and is bored out of her mind. Eating gives her instant gratification, filling the emptiness inside her whilst getting fatter. When you sit and make money at home all day, there's no need to face reality and she can live in her delusion all she wants. If she's getting fatter then she can just angle the camera higher. If she's getting uglier, she can just slap on a Snapchat filter. Putting on makeup before going out to a restaurant and planning what she binges gives her purpose. Eating also feels good which eases the pain of lugging around 500lbs+ on her poor skeleton.

The only solution for her is to go outside, meet new people and do new things. Stuff like volunteering, joining a club etc. because it gives her something new to think about. Even actually being committed to seeing a doctor/therapist but our gorl is afraid of confronting pain and does not have the word "commitment" in her dictionary. She lives with the mentality of, "I will do ____ and _____ when I'm slimmer" which is counter-productive and she will never actually achieve anything until she pulls the thorn out.

I wasn’t around when she lost the 89lbs. How long did it take her to lose it?

The only thing that moves her day along is moving from one meal to the next. Planning her next meal as she is currently eating. It is a way to pass the time. ...until she dies I guess

The only thing our gorl is committed to is failure of every single thing that she starts.

The 89 lbs is a legend. It happened pre-the beginning of her channel. I’m not convinced it was all at one time or consecutive if at all. It is a line from AL, and I wouldn’t trust her to tell me the time so do with that what you will.

Ate 900 calories a day and lost weight in the past --> Eating 900 calories a day will literally kill her. Had to eat a fuelling even though she totally wasn't hungry, had no cravings, had great energy, etc. --> NO REALLY, 900 CALORIES IS A DEATH SENTENCE

I had to listen to this part twice to figure out what the hell she was getting at: "I thought 800-900 calories is not sustainable for someone my weight, and if I was to ever try eating more than that, I would gain weight." (Starts around 16:10.)

So... I'm going to be extremely charitable and assume there was some actual human-like reasoning involved at some point in this mess. Essentially, there's two ideas in that quote: First, that she can't subsist on 900 calories a day for more than a day or two. Second, as she loses weight (hypothetically, of course) her daily caloric requirements would decrease.

Assuming both these premises are true, either one on its own might be a sensible reason to go off the plan. But when you mash them together, they completely cancel each other out -- 900 calories can't simultaneously be unsustainably low (meaning she couldn't stick with it long enough to lose any significant amount of weight) and also be the maximum she can have without gaining weight.

In other words, it's worse than just rationalizing going off the program; whether she meant to or not, she pretty much just declared that losing weight is a logical impossibility, not just a physical one.

It's not news that she contradicts herself a lot. We know she's neither bright nor articulate (nor especially honest, even) and that she'll grasp at whatever excuse she can, but man -- the disorganized thinking/speech is really getting bad.

It's almost as though she has some sort of health condition or something that's slowly damaging her brain. *sigh*

Also, I always wonder just how aware of her condition she actually is... I mean every time she does the whole "yeah at my weight I need to lose or Imma die" she says it with the tone and body language of a child saying "yeah yeah blah blah I need my veggies I know mom, can we go to mcdonalds now?". Like she's been told enough that she's gonna die, but I don't really think she sees the connection between what she eats and her health, not really. Even when she wants to diet, the end goal is that once she's skinny she can eat whatever she wants again.

Exactly. She has no concept of maintenance or perseverance. Sure, she says it's a "lifestyle change" and all, but it's like she thinks weightloss is a singular achievement. As though she can get down to 170 lbs and never have to think about it again.

It's like washing your hair once and figuring that will last the rest of your life.
