It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

Son sets mother’s house on fire after argument over box of Cheez-Its
https://www.cbs46.com/news/son-sets...cle_c904d9be-2ead-11e9-852a-8b2afb7c6cbd.html
Atlanta, GA (CBS46) A man had to rescue his mother from the second floor during a fire at a DeKalb County home that allegedly began over a box of Cheez-Its.

The incident happened at the home on Creekford Drive in Lithonia.

Officials tell CBS46 News that two brothers and their 61 year-old mother were at the home when an argument began over a box of Cheez-It snack crackers.

That's when one of the brothers, who police say was intoxicated, locked his brother and mother inside the home and began pouring gasoline on the front steps.

He then lit the home on fire, trapping the two inside. The brother was able to lift his mother down from the second story window and then get himself out safely.

The man who started the fire, 32 year-old Jeremy Lamar Wyatt, was taken into custody. He is charged with arson and criminal damage to property.

TBH I don't blame the guy, those things are delicious.
What's the deal with DeKalb County? Is it the Florida of Georgia?

There was a whole bunch of market analysis done that told airbus there wasnt much of a market for this aircraft. They ignored that and went ahead with the program anyways because politicians and the leadership at airbus wanted the biggest passenger jet in the world as a flagship. Ooopsies!

The most impressive magic trick AI‘s learned in the modern era is the one where it conjures people out of thin air. And there’s no better machine learning-powered wizardry than Nvidia‘s.

Nvidia is a company most lauded for its impressive graphics cards. But in the world of machine learning, it’s one of the most ingenious companies using deep learning today. A couple of years back TNW reported on a new generative adversarial network (GAN) the company developed. At the time, it was an amazing example of how powerful deep learning had become.

Transgender Mexican Youtuber Furry Potato shot by security guard outside synagogue. They were previously arrested for making derogatory comments to an African American Marine recruiter.

Apparently the security guard is Hispanic too. Also there's a fair chance it was a negligent discharge. Something which seems plausible if you look at the video -

https://www.foxnews.com/us/youtuber-furry-potato-shot-while-filming-los-angeles-synagogue
In the footage, Perez appears to roam around the synagogue for about 30 minutes while a security guard questions her. The guard advises her not “to do anything crazy over here,” before going back inside the synagogue.

Perez then films the guard standing behind the gate, zooming in and out on the guard's firearm and uniform but not saying anything. After several minutes, a shot is fired and the footage gets shaky. Perez runs away from the scene while shouting a string of expletives and claiming to have been shot in a leg. The guard appears again, pointing his finger and admonishing Perez: “That was a warning shot!”

Authorities responded to the scene around 12:24 p.m., Los Angeles Magazine reported. Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Drake Madison said Perez was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The guard – identified as 44-year-old Edduin Zelayagrunfeld – was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing the LAPD.

Perez later claimed she was only filming exterior shots of the synagogue when a security guard “came out and just started freaking out, started putting his hand on his gun.”

The YouTube channel, “Furry Potato,” has more than 17,000 subscribers and contains videos of Perez filming the exterior of other businesses and government buildings, while confronting people, security guards, and police officers.

Perez was arrested last year after allegedly making derogatory comments toward an African-American recruiter for the U.S. Marine Corps in Valencia, Calif., according to BuzzFeed News. The incident was treated as a hate crime and Perez was ordered to pay a $100 fine, the report said.

It's apparently still illegal to shoot furries, so don't do that. You can't just cap 'em and say 'Sorry. Negligent discharge. Must have had too much coffee' either.

She sounds nice. Bipolar Pixie Dream girls are like Manic Pixie Dream Girls except they are somewhat more likely to murder you in your sleep. On the other hand they are somewhat less likely to do so that than Borderline Pixie Dream Girls. Borderline Pixie Dream Girls are also more likely to talk you into letting them peg your ass with a dildo just to watch you wince.

Basically it breaks down like this

Manic Pixie Dream Girl. Fun. Idealised. Doesn't actually exist outside of movies.
Bipolar Pixie Dream Girl. Not fun. Will ruin your life. Might murder you.
Borderline Pixie Dream Girl. Not fun. Might murder you. Severe risk they will brainwash you into letting them peg you. Will ruin your life. Might murder you.

Come to think of it the pegging of dubious consensuality is probably a risk with the bipolar girls too. All those Hollywood movies with Manic Pixie Dream girls are probably propaganda to talk you into being pegged.

The Airbus A380 is dead; https://www.bbc.com/news/business-47231504

This might not seem like a big deal, but here is a quick gestalt

Originally the break even point was supposed to be 300 airframes but that ballooned to 450 or so due to delays. Production will come to a halt after about 300 airframes, far short of the break even point and airbus original estimate for 750+ aircraft.

The 747 is the aircraft the 380 was supposed to displace from the market. Production for the 380 will end in 2021, while Boeing will be making deliveries of the 747 until at least 2022 :story:

There was a whole bunch of market analysis done that told airbus there wasnt much of a market for this aircraft. They ignored that and went ahead with the program anyways because politicians and the leadership at airbus wanted the biggest passenger jet in the world as a flagship. Ooopsies!

Fucking Eurotrash. The UK should ally itself to the American military industrial complex and abhor, detest and abjure, as impious and heretical, European consortia like Airbush. All hail the God Emperor! All hail Lockheed Martin!

Thing is if you've been to Japan young women do joke about like this especially if they're models at an event or if they're hitting on you in a bar.

It's all just jealousy from fat blue haired Western women who eat too much and exercise too little masquerading as some sort of ideological concern about 'objectification'. Well that an prudery. IMO if Europeans and Americans whine about it, the Japanese should just tell them to fuck off and not apologise.

Once again fulfilling its duty as the place to shop for the man who has everything—except some random bullshit you assembled during a $10 day trip to Goodwill—Urban Outfitters unleashed its latest uber-trendy bit of nostalgic home decor this week: Random assortments of old VHS tapes, stuffed into 5-packs and sold for 40 human dollars. Bundled together under the artsy-sounding “Studiohouse Designs” label, it’s not clear whether you’re supposed to actually watch The Waterboy and Office Space on your prehistoric VHS system (sold separate), or if you’re just supposed to prominently display them in order to wow any date likely to be impressed that you own a copy of A Night At The Roxbury in its original wrapping.

Urban Outfitters assures fans that each pack—whether it’s ’90s Comedy, Horror, ’80s Romance, Sci-fi, or ’00s Rom-Com—will be “unique,” ensuring that you’ll have a specially curated collection of a bunch of bullshit that some low-level employee picked up at random from out back of old, abandoned Blockbuster. For what it’s worth, we did a quick Amazon search for the five films featured in their sample ’90s comedy pack—the three aforementioned movies, plus Heathers and National Lampoon’s Vacation, neither of which are from the ’90s, but hey, whatever—and checked to see how much they’d run you on their own: About $22, although those $3 copies of Office Space are apparently going pretty fast.

Of course, buying them individually would deny you the chance to make a real conversation piece out of your purchase—especially if you’re looking to have a conversation that starts with, “So, I really enjoy wasting my money on overpriced trash.”

Texas border town fights construction of border wall, fearing it could displace homes
ROMA, Texas — This small border town is hitting a wall.

This past week, the border security deal reached by Congress and signed by President Trump set aside $1.35 billion for fencing and barriers at the border. Apart from the national emergency Trump declared to secure additional billions for the border, the funding deal spelled out that a wall could not be built in Roma until there’s more input from the community. Local elected officials in several specific towns, including Roma, and the Department of Homeland Security now have until Sept. 30 to reach agreements on where exactly the barriers will go.

In Roma, there are absolutely zero barriers between the United States and Mexico. The town with its population of about 11,000 sits just across from Ciudad Miguel Aleman, Mexico. Without a wall, fence or even barbed wire to separate the two countries, the town is vulnerable, according to Customs and Border Protection — but many in the community disagree.

The border wall that is slated to go up in Roma would separate most of the community from the Rio Grande River. For people in here, the river is part of their community. Children, from both countries, play in the Rio Grande while men fish from the riverbank.

"The biggest concern we had with the border wall is, 'Will it displace residents in our community?'" said Freddy Guerra, Roma’s assistant city manager. The town is about an hour’s drive west of McAllen, the largest city in Hidalgo County — the area where construction on new portions of border barriers was set to begin in February.

The Rio Grande Valley is the part of South Texas that sees the most illegal border crossing, although that number overall has dropped dramatically over the last two decades.

The 150-acre plot of land in Roma that belongs to Noel Benavides, 75, has been in his family since the 1700s. He dreamed of giving the land to his grandchildren. Now, he fears the government will take part of his land away from him to build the wall.

“It is very personal,” he said. “Just like it is for Mr. Trump.”

For Juan Moreno, who teaches math at Roma High School, he fears his son won’t be able to enjoy the same upbringing he did as a child.

"As a child, the woods between my house and the river were like my playground, and in a sense, this same area continues to be my playground," Moreno said.

On his weekly kayak rides down the river, Moreno says he sees a part of life that we wouldn't have access to if they built a wall between his house and the Rio Grande.

But Moreno says he understands why border patrol agents would want a wall. He admits he sees undocumented immigrants crossing the river on a daily basis and understands why people want the wall to go up.

“We do need a wall — or as most folks are saying now — an ‘enhanced barrier,’” said Ross Barrera, the chairman of the Star County Republican Party. “There's got to be some type of deterrence.”

But some locals worry it could be built through neighborhoods closest to Mexico, breaking up communities and potentially forcing people out of their homes.

Roberto Salinas, Roma’s mayor, said he’s concerned that new fencing in the area could create flooding problems.

“I think for the people who live here, the biggest frustration is that they don't really know anything about what's going on," he said.

RACIST WALL TEARS APART COMMUNITIES
Roma, Texas is right across the border from Tamaulipas, Mexico:
This state is known to be the site of a territorial struggle for both the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas. The resulting deaths and unresolved kidnappings from the gang violence have been described as a "humanitarian tragedy"

EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS: 21 Killed in Mexican Cartel Battle near Texas Border — 17 Burned
(NSFL photos)
Mexican authorities found the remnants of a fierce gun battle between rival cartels immediately south of the Texas border. The fighting left 21 dead and five torched vehicles.

The shootout is believed to have been started when a team of gunmen from the Northeast Cartel faction of Los Zetas made an incursion into the town of Refugio Hinojosa, currently under the control of the Gulf Cartel. Refugio is a rural community not far from Miguel Aleman and Ciudad Mier, near Roma, Texas–an area without any physical barriers and is a drug/human smuggling hotbed.

Mexican Police Chief Gets 25 Years for Aiding Cartel Massacre in Border State
A small town police chief in the northern border state of Coahuila will spend 25 years in prison for his role in the kidnapping of a man who was “forcibly disappeared” by Los Zetas and never heard from again.

Just 8 years ago they claimed they were fearful of all the violence in Mexico right across the border:

Calling it now. The first challenge to the wall will be an eminent domain challenge much as the other executive power case Youngstown Sheet & Tube was about an "emergency" seizure.

(CNN) -- Three people were injured Friday night when panicked audience members "self-evacuated" during a performance of the musical "Hamilton" in San Francisco, police said.

A woman in the audience had a medical emergency during the scene in which the title character, Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, is shot on stage, said Joseph Tomlinson, public information officer for the San Francisco police.

Audience members mistakenly thought there was a real-life shooting and rushed the exits, he said.

CNN affiliate KPIX reported the someone in the audience shouted, "Gun!"

Police told reporter Shirin Rajaee -- who was in the audience -- that a woman was having a heart attack and someone in the theater thought she had been shot. In the chaos, some people jumped into police patrol cars.

The woman and three injured people were taken to local hospitals, police tweeted. One of the three people injured had a broken leg. The woman who suffered the medical emergency was taken to a hospital and reported in critical condition.

Cast members had to evacuate the Orpheum Theatre as well. An Instagram video shows them returning inside from the street.

The theater's explanation on Twitter did not sit well with some who attended.

"During a medical event at the SHN Orpheum Theatre this evening an audience member activated the theater's fire pull station," the theater said. "The audience and cast followed the life/safety system's automatic announcement and exited the theater."

Patron Laura Lasnier described "mass chaos" in a tweet.

"I was in the balcony with my 6 and 9 year old. There was absolutely NO announcement. There was mass chaos and absolutely no support and direction from SHN staff. Extremely disappointed in how the event was handled," she tweeted.

The performance of the popular Tony Award-winning show did not continue.

Tickets cost up to $686 officially and are offered online for hundreds of dollars more.

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., was once again reminded that she exaggerated her Native American ancestry and was heckled during a campaign stop in Georgia.

While introducing herself to a crowd of about 1,000 supporters in a Lawrenceville high school, a man shouted “Why did you lie?" Warren replied back “Be easy, be easy,” while the crowd chanted her name and clapped.

The man was holding up a campaign sign that read “1/2020” as he was quickly escorted out of the building. Warren released DNA results examining her possible Native American ancestry last year in response to criticism from Republicans and President Donald Trump.

WARREN SAYS TRUMP 'MAY NOT EVEN BE A FREE PERSON' IN 2020

The test revealed she could be anywhere between 1/64th and 1/1,204th Native American. In early February, she apologized to the Cherokee Nation for taking the test, which angered some tribal leaders who felt that being apart of the nation was rooted in centuries of culture and laws, not through DNA tests.

The incident came just days after Warren suggested President Trump "may not even be a free person" in 2020.

Warren made the remark at the Veterans Memorial Building in Cedar Rapids in front of a crowd of several hundred. The Massachusetts senator argued that Democrats should resist the urge to respond to "a racist tweet, a hateful tweet, something really dark and ugly" when choosing whether or not to spar with Trump.

TRUMP NEEDLES NEW PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE WARREN ON NATIVE AMERICAN CLAIMS

“Are we going to let him use those to divide us?” Warren said, according to a report from the New York Times.

“By the time we get to 2020, Donald Trump may not even be president,” she continued. “In fact, he may not even be a free person.”

When asked to clarify her statements, Warren pointed to the multiple open investigations into the president, which includes the Russia probe by Special Counsel Robert Mueller and two additional investigations led by federal prosecutors in New York and Democrats who won back the majority in the House of Representatives this past November.

Warren's comments came after President Trump took a jab at her on Twitter shortly after she announced her presidential campaign.

"Today Elizabeth Warren, sometimes referred to by me as Pocahontas, joined the race for President," he tweeted. "Will she run as our first Native American presidential candidate, or has she decided that after 32 years, this is not playing so well anymore?"
