If Jerry's infatuation with Pokemon despite hating almost everything about it is an indication, I get the feeling Jerry only enjoys the mindless grinding of RPG's. Or, no, not even that seeing as he feeds hacked Rare Candies to his 'Mons. I think it's more Jerry likes to insta-win fights by having an overpowered character. He doesn't actually care about challenge, he just wants things to die when he pushes a button.

I'll be the first to admit I was bored during the first hour of mgs3 cause of how long the cutscenes were, sure, but, that's cause I had heard so much good shit about the game beforehand, if you let yourself become immersed or at least interested in a games story, the cut scenes just fly by

Which is funny, because Pokemon has been infamous for its extremely slow and drawn-out beginnings in between tutorial sequences and cutscenes ever since DPP dropped in 2006.

That's actually a really good point, at face value, cutscenes can be long and boring, but when you get immersed and interested in the story that it's telling, then it can amount to something great. It's like reading a book.

Persona consistently has great stories. Not to mention, as I said earlier, as you move on in the game, the cutscenes and story progression feel like a nice break from the hours you'll be spending through the months grinding and progressing in the dungeons.

Jerry's lazy, has delusions of grandeur, and wants instant gratification. So I guess it's no wonder something as great as Persona or SMT wouldn't resonate with him.

Actually, Jerry already answered this question: He only likes slice-of-life shit. Which explains why his stories are just that and why they suck so much. When you only have to focus on certain specific pieces of a character's life then you don't have to pay attention to continuity or the fact that your character acts one way that time and different in another situation.
