Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

I get the joke, but I am fairly optimistic toward a Korean animated film or show becoming popular globally. Would be sorta like Gangnam Style, yet hopefully far less annoying and done-to-death.

Alright, no more derailing the thread. Real talk:
Is this whole shitshow going to be the beginning of the end with Western anime?
I'm not talking like within a few years, but somewhere down the line. Will enough people get sick of this bullshit that they skip over American/Western middlemen, and instead get their stuff straight out of Japan?

I'm already speculating that something along those lines will eventually happen, considering how much drama and bullshit politics are getting mixed up in people's entertainment. Particularly when you look to those awful dubs about patriarchy and gamergate creeps. These guys are messing with the author's original source material to insert their own hot takes. That's pretty fucked if you ask me.
Truly the days of incredible dubs like Cowboy Bebop, Baccano! and Death Note are behind us.

Also Marchi blocked Rackets, not a very confiident sign:

Pft! Marchi and Rial blocked me, and all I did was take a screen cap of Nick's bar information because Rial's fiancee was being autistic in thinking he wasn't actually a lawyer. Didn't even fucking mention Vic or them.

Probably shouldn't even involve myself in this Twitter shit at all, since I can't be counted on to personally harvest their tard cum now. Live and learn.

You know how Jamie Marchi said she hated having to sit next to Vic after the alleged assault?
According this guy this is the panel where it happened and she rubs his shoulders. Not a psychologist, but I don't think that's normal behavior for someone in close proximity to a man who just sexually assaulted them.

I'm loving the new features, you can upload the video directly to the site now:

Wtf Marz girl I thought she got some sense after the whole jewwario thing happened, guess that shows how exceptional people can be when they even associate with channel awesome.

At first I thought Marzgurl was being malicious.

Then I just realized shes a fucking idiot.

Really? She fell for the "someone hacked my account in the middle of a public facebook group discussion, just to make a side look bad, about an internet slapfight most people don't even know about"

Like, if any of you thirsty orbiters want to bang her, just walk up to her at a con and tell her you have a medical condition that will cause you to die in the next five minutes unless she has sex with you and she'll bang you right there on the con floor. That's how gullible she is.

Apparently they've closed ranks in their hug box to keep the boys out. You got to jump through a whole bunch of hoops atm to get posting privileges in that sub forum.
Okay. I get that some may want to jump in there to troll them but you could also do it in the comfort of Twitter and/or here.

Meaning they know the fire slowly reaching them. Has anybody sent those archives to Nick? I know he'll have a fun time making them weapons against MarzGurl.

Well that's why Marzgurl went there, the PULL people are talking about keeping "Whiteknights" and "Vic Fangirls" out. If you posted anything there, you'd probably just get banned anyway. It's not worth the trouble, it's basically their own private place to steer the narrative in the direction they want.

They are posting whatever stupid talking head is posting on youtube and trying to get clicks out of the controversy and going "don't those #standwithvic people realize they are being exploited? They don't realize those youtube people don't care about them. Oh BTW here is a youtube link Marzgurl posted, I reccommend watching it."

Why? It's hardly huge. It's just a boil on the ass of the anime industry. Sony apparently bought nearly the whole thing (95%) for $143 million. That's big but not have an entire embedded legal department big. They'd have general counsel, probably some in-house people to handle IP rights stuff and negotiations, and then hire outside counsel for anything specialized.

It looks like that Lawyer is a DMCA troll that goes hunting for Funimation properties and malicious free porn downloaders. While he may technically “represent” Funimation as he has been given free license to hunt pirates, he probably isn’t their primary representation in real matters.

So... Take this with a bit of a grain of salt... But a bunch of Ani-tubers were talking about this and one of them decided to leak all this out. It was also confirmed by person 4 that this was a thing that happened.

Also, love the line "Blind fans and misogynists".

Really, really, REALLY makes me wonder how the hell this guy is getting SO MANY DAMN SUBS on youtube.

... This coming from the CrunchyRoll shill...

“Hundreds of Women” uh huh. Whole binders full of em? Really? Who are they? We have no names. No direct first person stories beyond “he hugged me after I stood on line waiting to be hugged” and what little photographic evidence they put up has been blatantly fraudulent. I’m not saying that guy’s not a creep. But when you spit out “hundreds of independent women” in a matter that you have destroyed a persons life, and ended their career and future employment opportunities, you damn well better have a full collated list of those women and sworn statements. Otherwise you are full of shit.

“Kinda hard to sue twitter users who said mean things”
Remarkably easy to sue Verified Twitter Users Who used the platform to interfere in business contracts and defame you resulting in clear quantifiable loss. (See; Covington Kid v Everybody)

You would think these clowns would figure out the point when they should just shut up and walk away. Council has been engaged. And guess what, Funimation isn’t the easy target. These fools like Saucedo are.

Yeah, it doesn't help when those "hundreds of women" have stories like this.

So, recently, I was looking into the reports that Funimation recently broke its cancel subscription button in response to the Vic lawsuits.

I'm going to err on the side of the old adage of not ascribing to malice what is more likely than not a healthy dose of stupid. While the timing is hilariously unfortunate, I don't think this was an intentional fuck-up on Funimation's part. Mostly because a simple search reveals that Funimation's website is about as broken as the Sphinx's nose and the cancel subscription button fucks up about as often as a Reliant Robin rolls over. No less than eight times since November of 2017 going by what I've seen.

What I do find very interesting is that a huge number of people I'd have written off otherwise as locks for the Anti-Vic crowd have broken ranks and are now in support of the guy - not because they don't think he did anything wrong, but because Vic's opposition kept getting fucking caught hoaxing. If you have to fabricate evidence, after all, it's safe to assume you don't have any.

In other news, Nick brought up that Funimation's legal arm may be leaving Marchi and Rial high and dry:

Interesting shit here.

Meaning they know the fire slowly reaching them. Has anybody sent those archives to Nick? I know he'll have a fun time making them weapons against MarzGurl.

MarzGurl is screwed but in the grand scheme of things she's a nobody. She cant even afford to pay her cats vet bills, so she probably has more value is a cooperating witness then as a defendant. Her ties to Channel Awesome are pretty well established, and there are very few degrees of seperation from them and Anime News Network as well as the VA's at Funimation. I am sure Vics lawyers are going to be curious to know if her initial tweet at Funimation and the creation of #KickVic came from her own personal motivations to be a concerned troll, or if she was actually in communication with these people and organizations prior to pushing things ahead.

Wow, if you go back through hanleias timeline, shes hated Vic for years. Despite saying how he was creepy and evil and stuff, the main actual evidence she would actually bring up, is that he was a Christian, he wasn't approving of the gay lifestyle, and he didn't like people using LGBT as political activism. The rest of it was, "people hated how he was touchy feely, he was an asshole, everyone knew" "He wouldn't sign my Yaoi Fan stuff"

Jesus what a fucking lunatic.

So, if Vic was a Muslim instead, she would give him a free pass? ?

I'm curious, apparently according to Marchi there have been "dozens upon dozens upon dozens of reports" I've never actually seen these reports. When pressed people say it happened in another twitter thread. When I go there, there are two different types.

"I hugged him at a fan-con some years ago, I didn't think anything of it at the time, but now I feel uncomfortable."

"I saw him hug a child/I saw him kiss someone underaged during a fan photo and I didn't think it was appropriate"

Like honestly, is there actually dozens of reports? Because I'd like to see them.
