Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Nick clearly believes in the old Guard adage "You can kill it with sufficient regimental fire support". May the heavy guns strike true.
The thing about civil lawsuits is that it seems to be more about whether or not the parties involved can afford the retainer rather than who has more obnoxious social media asskissers. These smarmy Twitter wannabe lawyer VAs have been bluffing constantly because they know they can't really take this to the realm of law, and they assumed that taking away Vic's employment opportunities meant that he couldn't either.

Now, thanks to the gratuitous crowdfunding efforts for his legal fund, he is able to drag them to court, kicking and screaming all the way and it will be a sight to behold.

It’s taken ten years of on and off lurking to make an account, but this is like the only forum that isn’t sperging on the #kickvic train. Sorry for any mistakes, but going through this thread, I noticed a lack of this video. It’s been out a while now, but better late than never. Nevermind JesuOtaku/Hope, this shows the direct connection between Marzgurl and that ANN writer, Lynzee Loveridge.

What interests me about it most though is that anime feminist, Amelia Cook. She’s a former writer for The Mary Sue, a current writer for Otaku USA as well as her blog, Anime Feminist, and overall, feels very much like an outrage type.
I’m wondering, with the whole Vic thing now entering its legal phase, what’s to say she wouldn’t help co-conspire to kick up some sand again in an effort to “purify” the Western anime industry on some other poor sod or “problematic individual” in the future?
Marzgurl was exceptional enough to thrust herself into the spotlight, despite being more or less washed up at this point. Amelia on the other hand, already appears to be gaining traction with various outlets, while somehow continuing to fly under the radar of this whole debacle. At any rate, she’s definitely an interesting character. Not enough for a thread, but worth a post here at least.

Axanar just made their Vic video
See this! This is exactly what I was talking about. If you aren’t directly involved in a matter, Don’t Fucking Get Involved! The Axanar clowns had no reason to engage. No possible company benefit to doing so. There is no possible outcome where putting this shit out there or getting involved in the Vic mess in any way benefits them. And huge downsides as they are THE direct competitor of a business owned by Vic. A lot of people gave this nutbag a lot of money to make Axanar. What he is doing here is not displaying good stewardship of that trust.
Can I get a TLDR, it got taken down. Anyone snag an archive while it was up?

We can
The best thing that it might do, well actually likely will do, is assign a cost to the hate mobs. And more importantly assign a cost to unfounded defamatory journalism that has been given a free pass for too long. By assigning a cost, it makes corporations much more cautious. And much more aware of what their employees are doing and saying.

Wow look she is being harassed, god that harassment is more pathetic looking than navyseal copypasta.

How interesting, the girl who wrote the article about how great Amelia Cook is, also works at Gizmondo. She was also responsible for the sexism at Riot games article.

Gee thanks Twitter for those suggestions, I really wanted to see those names again.

Oh look it's friends of friends of friends all over again.

Oh look it's friends of friends of friends all over again.

It's always the same people. when these nerd dramas blow up its inevitably 7 degrees of GamerGate rather then Kevin Bacon. What is amazing though is they repeatedly take the wrong lessons and escalate for the next drama shitfest to come down the pike. To the point now where their entire social justice clique gets implicated in a legal conspiracy along with their parent companies with #kickvic and the Covington Kids. Going to be fascinating to see who gets roped into this mess. Beard and Harris' planning room white board must look like a schizos conspiracy wall.

I re-watched the live execution of that Shane guy and I got buttmad at the same exact thing and it's making me feel really exceptional since I don't see many other people talking about just how much of a smooth-brained pussyfaggot it makes this guy look.

When Shane dropped the "I don't think you're the right voice for this conversation" line, it was pretty fuckin' clear exactly what he was there to do. He wanted to prop himself up with--
a) Dealing with TX contracts (whatever the fuck that means) and therefore having more knowledge of those court systems than an actual fucking lawyer
b) An attempt to demonstrate that Nick's understanding of the case was either faulty or lacking
c) Proximity to Vic and his legal team (turns out it was a lie)
-- also so that he could appear to anyone deigning to pay attention that he looked like some authority in the matter so that he could set terms, enforce them, and gatekeep.

I hate gatekeeping faggots like Shane, but I don't know what got me more tilted between his attempt to gate keep in the first place, or that he still tried to gatekeep without having any fucking clue that things weren't playing out like he thought they would in his head.

You could always feed this information to our friend Nicky Rackets if you wanted to if he's not already aware to feed to the law firm for discovery. It's entirely likely that he's bringing these heavy guns of a law firm in precisely because they're now aware of all the shit going on.

Rekieta is probably the best intermediary for useful information rather than directly annoying Vic's law firm. He is the one guy here who is in a position to relay information who knows both the autism side of it, the law side of it, and is in contact with both major factions.

I've only really been aware been aware of this for about 24 (I think the last anime I watched was fullmetal) so I have two questions

  1. How likely is it that Vic is actually a creeper? Not in a provable court way but in a farms lolcow way?

Tbh I couldn't care less if he's a minor creeper of some kind.

I'm just disgusted by the transparently orchestrated campaign of lies. Usually if you plan something like this in advance, as is the case here, you lead with your strongest accusations. In this case, that was purely maybe he touched someone's shoulder or hugged someone who was made uncomfortable by it.

However, when that narrative started falling to pieces and the accusers were caught outright lying, then the now usually anonymous allegations suddenly started ramping up in severity. Fake swatting events from serial liars started happening. Then a real swatting event at an innocent bystander happened.

Why would things go this way? Why weren't these incredibly lurid anonymous accusations what we heard first instead of trivial bullshit? After all, just the trivial bullshit got him fired.

And huge downsides as they are THE direct competitor of a business owned by Vic. A lot of people gave this nutbag a lot of money to make Axanar. What he is doing here is not displaying good stewardship of that trust.

This is where Waid and the "comics pros" and these idiots all fucked up the same way. You can be in a Twitter hate mob and be on the hook for nothing but possible defamation, which is notoriously difficult to prove.

Once you're fucking around with business torts like tortious interference and unfair competition, though, your First Amendment protections are at a low ebb, and even your defamation is less defensible when you have a pecuniary motive in defaming someone.

While these autistic fan projects may be, well, autistic as hell and of interest to a niche audience at most, there are hundreds of thousands of dollars in play and Vic's project is in direct competition with this asshole smearing him. It's not a good look.

More to the point, it's not a legally defensible look and not one you want to have as a defendant.

Just in case if Vic's lawyer want some more.

There's nothing personal? That would make it business, then. And that would make it actionable. Vic's getting money and you think it's part of a pie you should be getting all of.

Get rid of Vic, and you get it all. Nice racket, dude.

If EVERYONE has a Vic story, nobody should be worried about the Four Hoursemen of the Texas Legal Apocalypse, since it should be really, really easy to find a bunch of people to swear to it all under oath, right?

b) An attempt to demonstrate that Nick's understanding of the case was either faulty or lacking

It helps not to be a drooling mongoloid. This guy was so obviously ignorant of even basic shit that he got the floor mopped with him. It was almost amazing how oblivious he was to how badly it was going for him. It literally took over a day afterward for him to realize he'd been owned.

Is there anyone on anime youtube that isn't a complete brainlet on this issue? half these guys imply that Vic is the one in legal trouble.

No because anime is for brainlets and manchildren.

Ummm? No. Direct first person testimony is evidence. Second or third hand information is hearsay. And unsurprisingly all we have yet seen from anyone is hearsay. No direct testimony of any incidents. Or minimal such that immediately seems suspect.

And once again, why would this clown get involved, from his business account no less. He has accused a direct business competitor of rape and sexual abused, on the basis of hearsay and hearsay alone, from the official social media accounts of his company and work product. His product depends on fan support and donations. The fan community is widely dividing regarding these vague accusations. Especially they seem to be deliberately targeting a known conservative Christian in order to drive such out of the industry. The Axanar dude isn’t getting 2x the donations that he needs. Especially not after paying out 80% of his crowdfunding to legal bills for a case he lost. He can’t survive on half the donations. Getting involved is always a bad business move. Especially since it wastes other people’s money.

That should come to no surprise. Nick said "TI with business prospects" like 50 times and the guy kept bringing up material about "TI with a contract".

Is she talking about being raped by Vic? All I know about Jessie is she's a cosplay thot.
Todd Haberkorn. He admitted they did have sex, and had screenshots of texts between them which showed that Jessie kept wanting more afterwards.
