Not that surprising that it exists. Since we know that there are roleplay porn stars in Japan that are hired precisely because they are under 4"11 and petite.
The thing that's odd is that you'd think MyAnimeList would completely scrub the fact that those anime exist from the face of the english speaking internet, because it could land them in hot water down the line.
My guess is that many of the people in positions of influence in that fandom are actually fans of or sympathetic towards them, because reading through some sites, even the female fans want to keep their shotacon.

My only experience in person with weebs was in a class full of them. I took japanese in college for my major, there were a few other people there for international jobs, or they were japanese and wanted an easy A. But 90% of the class were weebs or neckbeards. The worst of them dropped pretty quickly, but for the first two weeks the smell was godawful, and I mean eyewatering. They all seemed nice enough, but there was always someone talking and when the class would break it was like in high school when a teacher would leave the room. Most of the class wanted to move to japan and would talk about how great it is, and go on about their favorite things over and over. And there were more then a few debates on what show was best. I give them credit for learning the language, but it got old fast.
There was a skit required toward the end of the semester. One involved the entire cast dressing up in the high school uniforms. Once you’ve seen a very fat man in an ill fitting schoolboy outfit it’s enough.
A few others had people doing peace sign poses and using high pitched ‘cutesy’ talk.
The real standout was one student who had to be autistic. The teacher gave everyone the option of extra credit points if you’d stand up and sing a song for the class. I had flashbacks to Chris’ singing the entire time. Very monotone, off beat, singing over a track with vocals, the works. But what made it stand out was that the original song had a lot of screaming. So about every other line this dude would sort of wheeze it out. It was more embarrassing then funny in person. I wish I had his usernames now, I’m sure it’d be wild.

Having read through that first thread, I think I can safely say that I have no idea what in the name of actual fuck she's on about, but her profile image is both furry AND anime so it's likely that she's fucking exceptional. Also I love how she's sperging about weebs while clearly being a weeb herself, that's nice.
