Well, if I can't see Alita this weekend, then guess what? I'm going to stay home and watch Wonder Woman on Blu-Ray instead. The FEMALE MARVEL fan is choosing to stay home on this film's opening weekend. Fuck Carol Danvers, and fuck Brie Larson.

My game plan is to skip opening weekend, read all of the spoilers, and then decide for myself if I even want to check it out in theaters altogether. I'm hoping upon hope that the media circus behind this movie is just a distraction for what may very well end up being a fun and harmless movie ... But given Disney's recent track record, I'm feeling less and less optimistic about it.
Or you could do what I'm doing:

It's amazing to me that this was only March 2009 and it was at the UN. You know, BSG's later seasons had a lot of nonsense and the ending is so bad I still don't like to think about it - but I can remember this video circulating on the net to rousing choruses of "so say we all!" And yet, not even ten years later, some rich celebrity can say a movie she had nothing to do with "wasn't for" white men and the room bursts into cheers and applause.

(Just an aside, but I notice Brie Larson didn't have a single unkind word to say about all the white, male film critics who praised her performance in Room and undoubtedly contributed to the Oscar buzz for her. Was Room "for" more people than A Wrinkle in Time? Room is rated R. Wrinkle is rated PG. Food for thought.)

I don't know, maybe I'm remembering things as rosier than they were, but it just makes me shake my head and wonder why the attitudes now are so different.

Off topic since this is kinda a MCU thread (someone please show me the link to a MCU thread), but why do I get the feeling that Paramount could one day own the rights to the MCU films? I say this assuming Disney lets go off Marvel, which will never happen no matter how hard the MCU becomes shit soon.

It's Disney. They own like 40 or 60% of the market after the Fox merger goes through. It's completely plausible.
It’s 40%. Sorry I’m going a-log sperg since you brought it up, but Rupert Murdoch made a idiotic move to sell Fox to Disney.

I thought it could be 60% when you consider the number of TV stations and shows Disney would own. If we're counting all media and not just movies.

Truth be told, I was thinking of doing a Captain Becky vs. Alita: Stacy Angel at some point while at the same time also doing that same meme you were just talking about. This was coming off of these two memes I made a few days ago.

I have no interest in Alita but it does amuse me how people on social media think there's a grand conspiracy where men are pitting unrelated women against each other for their own interests. It's very odd.

I'm about to sperg out on a very late post in regards to Captain Marvel being the only showtime in mostly every theatre.

I mean, I was planning on seeing on How to Train Your Dragon 3 this Friday but considering that theatres owners and Disney are desperate to show Brie's wooden face in my city as well as across the fucking nation, I'll just pirate HTTYD3 and Alita. Lucky for me, I uninstalled Fandango just a week before Captain Marvel's release.

It was a retarded move for Murdoch to sell Fox to Disney; he could've just sold Fox to NBCUniversal. I mean, yeah I get it; NBCUniversal is owned by Comcast; one of the worst companies ever; but consider this, ticket sales for Universal's theme parks are cheaper (and not to mention, the rides are more fun to ride on than some of Disney's parks), the films are bad (and that's with any film company; mind you, Illumination, judd Apatow, and Blumhouse still exist to this day), but occasionally, but in terms of business decisions, and I can't believe I'm saying this, they're a bit more sane in comparison to Disney's, so I'd rather have Fox be sold to NBCUniversal than a greedy company that consistently fucks up everyone's childhoods across the globe every year.

Although, I do come across as a hypocrite seeing as how NBCUniversal does share stake of Fandango along with AT&T's own Warner Bros., and Fandango also owns Rotten Tomatoes; the same site that Brie Larson and Disney have both done damage control over the percentage rating on the "Want to See" score because "it was considered review bombing," when no, it's the interest; but then again, we're dealing with that Brie is a completely insane SJW, and the fact is SJW's are lactose over the keywords, "interest," "opinions," "logic," etc. and therefore label them as something stupid as "durr patriarchy," "but muh oppression," or other forms of bullshit stupidity these feminists do nowadays.

Nigger, with the shit we've seen these companies do to bend and manipulate reality with large amounts of money, is it THAT far fetched they'd do something like this?
Sorry but just because Disney could do something like this, I do not think they would because it would be blatantly obvious to the public.

I'm trapped in a FEMA camp where fat gays have me chained up and are injecting me with soy. The only outlet I get is 2 minutes of alone time on the internet. After that, its 38 hours of watching approved feminist media like this movie trailer, the new Ghostbusters, and To Wong Fu, Thanks for everything.

The illuminati wont conquer the resistance with bullets, but with obese black chicks tampons.

The future is obese black ghetto chicks chasing skinny white boys to steal their seed. It will be broadcasted live on Troon Disney.

Captain Marvel's Kryptonite discovered it's down votes on Rotten Tomatoes who'da Thunk It
Not that surprising, House of M (The event where Scarlet Witch ended up almost genociding the Mutants and fuck that retcin by cowards that it was actually Doom fault) revealed her dream was to the most famous superhero of all and she got that after going full facist and nearly killed Tony Stark in Civil War II so yeah unpopularity is something she's weak too

My plan is the same as my normal MCU plan: wait for Netflix.

can't wait for the next female lead movie
where upon this movie will be tossed into the burning pit of "doesn't real"
so people can push the narritive that the new movie is the first true movie with STRONK WAMMINZ!

Looking like initial response is it's "pretty good, not great", with criticisms lobbed towards it being a quip-filled Marvel movie just like all of the rest of them are.

Prediction; it will get mild reviews (better than Ant-Man, worse than BP), so Youtubers can sperg out over that, but will do well at the box office, because it's a fucking Marvel movie and only a complete reetard thinks Marvel movies bomb.

Fizzle out until Star Wars and the process repeats itself.

Someone on 4chan posted the plot of Captain Marvel:

- Carol is a pilot recruited by Project Pegasus to test a “hyperspeed engine” developed by Dr. Wendy Lawson AKA Mar-Vell and powered by energy extracted from the Tesseract.

- Carol is attacked by the Skrulls and the engine explodes. She absorbs its energy before being rescued by Mar-Vell and taken to Hala by Yon-Rogg, where she is brainwashed into believing she is a Kree warrior whose powers come from an implant on her neck.

- Carol is captured by the Skrulls during a mission and Talos probes her mind for information on the Tesseract. Carol escapes and goes to Earth, where the Skrulls are hiding, and crosses paths with Nick Fury, who decides to help her.

- Talos masquerades as Fury’s boss and frames Fury for being a Skrull. SHIELD tracks Carol and Fury to Project Pegasus headquarters, but Coulson lets them escape.

- Carol believes that the Skrulls are bloodthirsty conquerors, and the Kree are noble warriors defending the galaxy from them, but slowly realizes the Kree have the conquerors and have been wiping out “lesser cultures” and exploiting their resources for centuries. They attacked the Skrulls first but the Skrulls have been able to fight back.

- The big twist is that Mar-Vell and Talos both defected and had been working together to harness the Tesseract’s energy in order to end the war. Carol was not attacked by the Skrulls, but by the Kree.

- Carol, Fury, Maria Rambeau and Talos team up to retrieve the Tesseract from Mar-Vell’s space station in Earth’s orbit, where Talos also reunites with his wife and daughter whom Mar-Vell had been protecting from the Kree, but Yon-Rogg and Ronan arrive with a Kree armada to retrieve the Tesseract and destroy the Skrulls on Earth.

- Carol gets rid of the implant, unlocking her full powers, and destroys the Kree armada before confronting Yon-Rogg one last time in the desert and announcing she’s no longer under his control. The Kree are forced to retreat, and Carol gives Fury a pager to contact her if he needs help before leaving with Talos to continue Mar-Vell’s efforts to end the war.

- There is a running gag of Fury almost losing his eye in dangerous situations throughout the movie, only for Goose to unceremoniously scratch it off in the end.

- The film doesn't really have a main villain. The "villain" is the idea that people keep on telling Carol that she is less capable than she really is, and her arc is overcoming that and embracing her true power. It's all internal conflict.

- Talos is a lot fun and a total bro in the end, Yon-Rogg is okay but unremarkable, and most of his dialogue is exposition.

- Post-credits scene as previously reported (Endgame scene of Carol meeting up with the remaining Avengers and Goose barfing up the Tesseract in the 90's).

ETA: There's a thread discussing it.

It would make a much more compelling drama if it showed how Carol overcame her hateful personality and got laid.
