Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

More on Marzgurl and how she links to the others. She seems pretty rat queeny in this whole mess.

She also picked the unfortunate hashtag that sounds really creepy and almost like an incitement to violence.

At best they have spoken to the Funimation lawyers, or rather been interviewed by the Funimation lawyers, in the mistaken belief that they are somehow clients of said lawyers or protected by them. Although quite frankly given what a pack of rampaging narcissists these morons were, if any lawyers went anywhere near them we would already be getting the “haha! My lawyers better than yours” shit. At best I think a few of them may be simply laying low.

Ethical lawyers would be telling them they aren't their lawyers and don't represent them, at least if they're representing Funimation in this as well, considering Funimation's defense is probably going to be throwing them to the wolves and claiming to have had nothing to do with their defamation campaign.

Aren’t Funimations Lawyer a pack of shady DMCA trolls?

A bit players section. then you can throw in Pridemore, Shane, Soy Boye and the tweet heard round the world.

If this is now (or going to be) a superthread for both Vic and Haberborn (under the Weebwars banner), Pridemore is hardly a bit player.

She is literally the primary (and possibly only) legal target from Haberkorn's PoV.

There's a reason why his GFM will only be 10K, and it ain't because he's rich. It's because there's gonna be less work involved with representing him.

Their in-house counsel predominately exists for IP reasons. That probably includes DMCA shit. Although, it likely also includes licensing and contract negotiation with the Japanese end.

TBF, I haven't known them to be complete shitheads when it comes to IP enforcement. They usually tend to leave Youtube clips alone, which suggests they have some grasp of fair use. I think they're predominately focused on throwing a spanner in bittorent promulgation of shows they license.

The Japanese are far bigger shitheads when it comes to YT and FU.

I'm pressing X to doubt on ANY of them having lawyered up. Some of them have simply been beat to shit by their own stupidity and can't keep up anymore.
Fair point, but I still think they lack the self control to sit down and shut up without be told to by an adult. MarzGurl for example has some damage control Tweets that look like they were composed by a third party. It would just be so mind-blowingly, incomprehensively stupid for them to not seek counsel in the face of impending litigation that I literally can't even.

I see people are looking into Kanzenshuu as well now. I brought it up earlier while that thread had less pages on it. I don't have much more to contribute than what I already posted about it and others did.

I don't see any dirt coming from admins or mods besides what's already out there.

VegettoEX, the one who is most active in that thread, likely is just being extra "woke" due to his behavior in the past like most SJWs. I doubt he did anything truly bad or criminal, but I'm sure he said or had certain opinions that would put him in hot water with the woke brigade nowadays. I'm sure you could dig something up. He used to be well known for his hatred of the dub and has been online talking about DBZ since at least 1998. He's still a manchild on the forums, but at least the main site is fairly professional. And that's only cause it has to be since Toei and Funimation keep an eye on it. Also he's friendly with the people at ANN, he follows Zac Bertschy on Twitter for example. He also did lip service for the site early in the thread.

The other skeleton of Kanzenshuu, is an ex-mod known as Tweaker. He's more well known in Sonic communities. Anyway, he was accused of being a pedophile and child molester by his Sonic Retro brethren.

Supposedly, authorities dropped the investigation. But the article I see for this has no proof. So who knows what happened. But by the logic of admin on Kanzenshuu, if there's smoke then there's fire.

Here's proof of him being the same Tweaker as on Sonic Retro. http://archive.li/tUF8y

And proof of him being a mod. He has since been quietly removed from his position after said events. http://archive.li/sR07R

I might just be professional courtesy, but I remember Nick saying something to the effect of "I have nothing bad to say about Evan Stone."

He might just be saying that to not get in trouble with him. Evan Stone has baggage.

Stone's major claim to fame is going after BitTorent shit. He's currently suing 1,427 BT users in East Texas for torrenting a Funimation licensed show.

While that might make a lot of people salty, piracy is objectively illegal, and I think Nick gets that. Nick can't condone illegal acts.

The only bad thing he said about Stone is that he's the wrong attorney for what's coming. Ergo, attacking Stone is kinda pointless, even if there were cause to. If this goes to trial, I think Funimation would have to hire an outside firm.

Almost nobody screws up badly enough that they get ordered by a judge forevermore to tell every new judge they file a case in front of how they behaved illegally and can't be trusted with subpoena powers.

No doubt, but again... I don't think Stone would handle this case either way, and I think that is where Nick is coming from in not starting shit over this.

Nick has no compunction with tearing into shitty lawyers. He did it with Landau. There's likely just no point in doing it with Stone.

Also, the court-order seems to suggest he had to send notice of him being sanctioned to the judges in each case he was currently counsel in. I don't think he has to do it for all eternity.

"2) Stone shall file a copy of this Order in every currently-ongoing proceeding in which he represents a party, pending in any court in the United States, federal or state."

Okay, that looks pretty clear. One hopes he'd never pull such a stunt again.

At 4:40 in this video Vic talks about how he considers the people he works with his family. Definitely heartbreaking.

I don't know about Caitlin, but I did notice her mom Helen Glass commented on Jessie Pridemore's original accusation Facebook post. Helen said she had known Vic for 15 years and was shocked because she'd never seen him do anything like what he's accused of, but that she absolutely believed these women's stories. Because listen and believe > your own eyes and ears.
Not surprised since a lot of boomers tend to be fooled easily.

Well, that is the point of sanctions, and punishment in general.

It's gonna be interesting to find out if Ty has even talked to Stone, or whether they're just gonna file, wait for Funi to hire somebody else to handle their end, and then enter into negotiations. Nick seemed to suggest that we might see at least an initial complaint.

There is one Funimation-affiliated VA that will be there (Ricco Fajardo):
Ricco was one of the VAs I dug into since it seemed like the My Hero Academia VAs were the ones losing their shit and he also has a role in the woke trashfire that is Zombieland Saga. All I could find was endless nerd shit and cat videos which are both pretty great things I take no issue with.

Is Amanda Winn Lee the only one from the Persona camp chimping out? Considering the type of games Atlus puts out I doubt they give a single fuck about what a bunch of uptight entertainment industry liberals think.

Jesus, that's a hell of a thing you have to send out.
