coming off these medications is a serious detox. there's a lot of rotten side effects from being on these drugs for so long, too.
Google can give you a pretty through list of both, for each drug they've been fed, and it's not enjoyable to read. it'll be a slow taper and there may be medications used to ease up some of the withdrawal symptoms.
they'll give people withdrawing from thorazine sleeping medications, for example, because sleep becomes difficult. extrapyramidal symptoms like rubbing hands and legs together are common. (it can look like "stimming", but it's drug-induced). it takes weeks for these medications to fully kick in and weeks to months for them to fully leave the system. then there's the re education process, learning to live without abuse and manipulation, learning that someone hurt you, dealing with the life long damage of abuse. those ACE trauma studies are real, this will be a lifelong process for the kids and I'm glad it's begun.
on to the real juice, though:
people with bipolar I who are unmedicated have what's called a kindling effect. each mania causes more damage to their thought patterns, and physically too (there's a few good studies on this, the physical aspect- simply put, untreated bpI can cause progressive brain damage over the years).
someone who is manic and has avoided treatment for a long time will be less rational than during previous manic states. you can see this decline in Susan. her cow evolution is legendary really. if she'd had no kids at all, she'd still likely have ended up just as batshit.
she's been using her kids as a way to avoid getting treated. she's been feeding them her OWN needed cocktail. that magic mixture is what SHE actually needs to be on. she will probably refuse medication, fight any kind of psychiatry or psychology assigned to her or offered to her. she may keep it quiet for a moment but if you know people who have been manic you know that kind of quiet is short lived, and also is just a tense moment of waiting for the other shoe to drop.
I'm wondering if she doesn't have an alternate FB page on which she is talking to non-publicity "friends". I mean people who are not involved in the foundation. does she have real friends?
I'm glad Cory's daughter is keeping herself safe. You're doing great. You're free. stay free.
as far as Michael's situation:
he's one of the three main abusers of these kids, his book is fully written from the perspective of a self absorbed dickhead who actively endangered and hurt Jani, and that's just his own words on the matter.
I don't think "staff" will be saying much unless they've been manipulated by Susan. as I said earlier, people with npd usually have a handful of weak believers who will try their best to help. I think in abuse recovery circles they call them "flying monkeys". most of the staff will be trying to keep their licensing and such, by reporting and complying with DCFS and police.
