Well, from what I've seen.

It was from:

1. The fandom constantly bothering the creators to make Lanque trans,
and 2. All Jadebloods we've seen before Lanque were female, so I guess it'd make sense to make him transgender.

editing someone elses artwork is pretty rude. sure there are a lot of pc redesigns that are ugly and but "fixing" these artworks is just rude and unnecessary.

Have to agree with the re-re-designer here. I thought that was Rule 63 Samus on the first glance (it's definately a man's face. A boyish man's face, given the ears, but the heavy eyebrows and the sideburn growth nearly down to the corner of the jaw means it's either a guy or a bearded lady.)

These tumblr artists always have some sort of anime influence, they just usually don't know how to incorporate these influences gracefully. I think the problem is that theres this telephone game of anime influence in sjw art. The classic blush is a popular sjw trend that comes from anime, but it looks like shit when most sjws do it. I think a lot of these artist aren't looking at anime for influence, they look at other sjws instead of using the source. Everyone is using secondary sources instead of the primary source and everything just become a sorry excuse of the original.
