This is the first time I've actually been shocked by a mass shooting, just because of how utterly surreal it is. This guy did everything right in his mass shooting and made sure the impact is going to linger on for years with his shitpost manifesto and livestreaming (figured there was going to a livestreamed mass shooting sooner or later). It sucks this guy is going to be one of the main reasons we lose all the good parts of the internet in the next few years.

It's not going to be the reason. It's going to be the excuse. Pedophile networks and ISIS recruitment has been going fine and dandy for a while now, the media at large doesn't really care.

That's valid, my problem is that I just don't see where the audience for it is. Who's going to be sympathetic to his actions and what they read in his manifesto, who doesn't already know and agree with everything in there? I think he just got redpilled too fast and lost his shit.

I don't think he is hoping for sympathy. I think he's hoping to make at least some people aware, people willing to listen. And in the current MSM age, he probably thought this is the only way.

Come to think of it, what if one of the guy's goals in doing this was to try and get 8chan shut down?

It was, that's in the manifesto, too. In general, he wanted a backlash that would encourage state censorship of right wing views in the hopes this would further radicalize people currently just kaffeeklatsching and get them angry and violent instead.

Seems like fame is the mass shooter fame is main motivator. Everything seems calculated to generate the most controversy. I wonder if CNN will do their part.
John Waters predicted this all the way back in the 70s in Female Trouble.

These people don't care HOW they get famous, since the media won't stop talking about them, they'll become infamous, this shit will live on in history because the media LOVES glorifying this shit. To them its like winning an award.

It has literally nothing to do with U.S. law in any way that anyone will care about. People will say some shit. It isn't even in the U.S. Nobody can say if we had the stricter laws NZ has, this wouldn't have happened, because they have those laws, and it happened.

Yeah that's along the lines of what I was thinking. On the main subject, I found his livestream morbidly interesting. Not sure why beyond "blah blah, primal human urge, blah", but I couldn't help but keep watching.

8chan will die of natural causes soon enough anyway at this rate, no sense targeting it. Listening to Null read the manifesto on stream made it sound like he wanted to become the ultimate /pol meme though.
Lets be fair here, /pol/ might be retarded but atleast they know that if you want change you attack the one pulling the strings, not the puppet

People definitely get desensitized to videos and I think that's pretty normal. There's a level of detachment but I think like you said, the audio breaks the dissociation. The video really didn't bother me much until I heard the woman beg for her life. I knew what I was seeing was something horrible but it didn't seem real until then, if that makes sense.
This isn’t a strange feeling at all and it makes total sense. Disassociation is a classic a coping mechanism for trauma. Your brain basically goes “this isn’t real”or “it’s happening to someone else.”

I expect a bunch of lolcow.farms fangirls to pop up soon enough.

I'm just wondering if people will take the bait and this sociopath will actually accelerate things like he wanted.

On a somewhat unrelated topic we currently have over thirty-thousand guests on the site, I can't think of another day where there were numbers like that on here. I wonder how many people were first introduced to the Farms today.

So, do you think that here might be a similar political reaction movement in the works?
They are even going towards someone in Hare Krishna who voices anti-war opinions, Tulsi Gabbard. Hare Krishna was what the New Left went towards in the Summer of Love during the Vietnam War. The New Left was a reaction to the collapse of traditional institutions on the Left like the Communist Party, the Labor Unions, and etc dying. We see the traditional institutions of the Right dying, such as Churches and etc dying.

There's also the opposite effect of nations. Back then places like Russia, China, and Syria were seen as progressive. Now they are places that only Reactionaries like.

Something's happening for sure.

Naw I don't think its video games I think it has something to do with us not being there not having adrenaline we are calm watching it because we are not there and also you would be surprised how unsympathetic normal people can be others
I recognize that there's a level of detachment, but usually I have a lot of trouble watching other videos like this. Maybe I'm too empathetic, I'm not sure. But make it first person and suddenly I'm fine. So I really don't know.
I used to think the theory was kind of stupid, but I'm not certain anymore. I'm not sure either way, but I've just been thinking about it a bit since I watched the video earlier.

Police Response time btw.

Never liked Pewdiepie at all but reading his statement on twitter and the replies to it was pretty saddening, can't imagine how he's feeling right now having a terrorist reference you right before killing dozens of people. Of course the fuck was just referencing the meme and it could have been anyone, but still.

That's what they wanted. More division, they think this will cause a civil war in america. (which is fucking the most exceptional thing ever written.) But they are getting the polarization they wanted. Just like Bin laden wanted to bankrupt the usa by dragging them into a never ending war.
And so far, the shooter managed to at least get Twitter spergs to do part of what he wanted in them bitching about PewDiePie and how PDP must be deplatformed for having some hand in this.

Lmao at all the 2 hour old accounts a-logging about how they are happy human lives were taken.

Newsflash: y'all sound autistic.
It wouldn't be surprising if these people also wanted to unironically suck the dick of the shooter.

Too many.

Just remember friends -- you're here forever.

Gay, but this time realistic.

Either way, once MSNBC does the expose on our nazi knitting forum here, they will probably only highlight the accounts they created themselves for that very purpose. Its depressing how well the game goes these days. Even more depressing is this idiot was far too smart and knows how the game is played too and rigged the entire thing in his favor and the morons in the press and on twitter are going to slurp it up.
