I think you kind of have a point. I had a Palestinian (whatever the fuck that is) classmate in 8th grade when 9/11 happened, and she tried to justify it because she said "Well, they're mad because America took their guns." A lot of Muslims try and justify terror attacks, usually by saying "they're not really Muslim" and just going on a full defensive. But maybe they'll now just see that that's a totally pointless thing to add to the situation and have more empathy for the victims and survivors, whose names are often never remembered, especially compared to the perpetrator.

But realistically, I think they'll just use this as an excuse for the rest of their lives and probably fuel more anti-West hatred.

Part of me wonders if putting this out there might actually deter these people from doing it because so often in the news media, it's talked about as if it's an abstraction. Seeing this I think definitely wakes people up to how evil this truly is and how you can never take things back. But when the media tries to sweep primary sources for these incidents under the rug, it shifts the focus to all the attention the shooter is getting.

That he has successfully trolled people into sowing discord into a post-massacre conflagration against wholly innocent and unrelated parties, just as his avowed plan called for, it is more likely that copycats will arise.
