Sabat is a Vice Principle. He's a producer. He provides the money and the talent. These corporate structures are a rube goldberg machine, and its largely done for tax purposes.
Sabat is a Producer. He produces funding, and talent for what Funimation needs to have happen. This means he has hiring, and firing authority. It also means he has authority over any other voice actors future prospects for being "produced" for future prospects.
The big reveal here is not that Sabat has gone after vic. The big reveal is Sabat went after Haberkorn. Holy fucking shit how fucking stupid is this man. Vic hired Ty Beard after the #metoo brigading, and then, when Jessie pridemore went after Haberkorn for the same reason, he hired Beard too. And Sabat then, in his arrogant wisdom, decided to go after Haberkorn for daring to align with Vic by hiring the same lawyer.
And by all accounts, Ty has taken this personally. He views Sabats actions as deliberately made to deny his client access to the legal system, using his position as a producer for the anime voice acting industry. Sabat is fucked. Ty wants his scalp. He tried to ruin his first client Vic, but the unforgivable sin was to go after another person who dared to become his client. That is something a lawyer may well go pro bono for, if a client was punished for the temerity of hiring them. Never attack a lawyers business.
