Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

I mean EA owns Bioware and has the SW license but didn't even try make KOTOR 3. I mean it's not likely you could get Karpyshyn back and Avellone's pretty much said everything he wants to say about Star Wars in KOTOR 2...But it's surprising they didn't try. Maybe Disney vetoed it because it's no longer canon.

I am now thinking, in my optimistic mind, that Warren Spector worked for Disney both developing Epic Mickey and writing Ducktales comics. I can imagine him bringing something cool to Jedi Knight, but that probably won't happen. Deus Ex in Nar Shadaa would be pretty sweet.

I heard somewhere that Lucasfilms sort of frowns upon the idea of a game with different endings due to their strict views on canon, hence one of the reasons why Bioware hasn't been able to get an RPG past concept stages. Regardless of how they're viewed as these days, you'd think that an RPG made by them would've been a no-brainer given how beloved KOTOR is, and the idea that suits with sticks up their asses over canon is preventing that makes me even more disappointed in the current state of Star Wars.

The both of you are forgetting that this is Disney Star Wars, and as a direct result of that, will have to sprinkle as much woke shit as they possibly can into this before it gets shipped out. Take peace that KOTOR is dead, there are worse fates to suffer than simple death.

There certainly is the possibility that they would try to force some kind of agenda or message (I have enjoyed my time playing Dragon Age Inquisition and to a lesser extent Mass Effect Andromeda, so what do I know?), but I was simply lamenting the fact that not even a game from their main RPG developer can get greenlit, all because of corporate bullshit on Lucasfilm's end. This is simply a symptom of how barren Star Wars as a video game IP has become outside of some mobile games and the Battlefront reboots.

That feel when your company literally tried to introduce the first gay character into the franchise and had to dummy a lot of it out and 15 years later isn't woke ENOUGH.

I would love to see it go to Rockstar or CD Red Project.
We don't deserve something that nice in the Current Year, and even if by some miracle we did get it, they'd force Red to make a game that revolves around Ma-Rey-Sue and her dumbass pals or some other bland and woke Chuck Wendig-tier character.

  • Agree
Reactions: Dr W and The Shadow

The plus side hopefully is that they could give her a actual fucking character.

Jesus Christ, I don't know whether to be glad or sad. On one hand, modern "woke" Bioware won't get to go all Beamdog on Kotor. On the other hand, it's going to take at least another decade or half of one for a Star War RPG to be approved and even then it's going to be something tame and likely disappointing.

Yeah. As much as I wish there was one more KOTOR game wrapping up the entire saga in place of the horrible yet admittedly okay on its own TORtanic, it's best left as it is. In my own shitty headcanon, Revan and the Exile are still fighting their eternal war of belief against the hidden Sith empire in the darkness of space. Atton did what he's best at and bailed part-way through to go have a drink with Canderous, having a talk about their crazy ass generals, and fail at Pazaak against T3 one last time.

Of course they are happy, EA's mismanagement slightly distracts from their own mismanagement.

If you expect press releases to express problems in a business relationship, good luck with the rest of your life.

There is no chance Disney will ever say "Kennedy has mismanaged our four billion dollar IP."

There is no chance Disney will ever say "We are not happy with EA."

This is not evidence that there are issues behind the scenes.

Unless Disney suddenly gets a new CEO of Bob Iger gets ousted for doing something stupid and the new CEO flat out admits that the company has no idea what they’re doing with the IP.
