For another perspective on this, Broly is untapped potential that's been given a chance to shine. For any of you into martial arts genre staples in general, Broly is supposed to represent, like Cell, the more unvirtuous aspects that can be taken in the matter of strength and fighting, and in the realm of "Fighters are born, not made", or in layman's terms "a genetically superior fighter, and is merely a winner due to having strength to begin with", and everything nasty that can come with that if you applied it to Saiyan anatomy. He's the Ivan Drago or Doomsday of Dragon Ball.
For some recap, as "With great power comes great responsibility", Broly was not raised on that by his dad. Since he was born, he was already considered a threat to King Vegeta, and was meant to be executed. When was only a child, Broly was already annihilating planets as if the whole universe was his toy, and his dad was trying to use him to restart the Saiyan raider empire all over again. Broly is also not right in the head, and acts constantly like a meathead with the testosterone jacked to 1000% via freak mutation pituitary gland in overdrive and crushes anything that lives and breathes as a lifestyle.
Goku and friends were lucky that Broly wasn't around on Earth when Dr. Gero was collecting DNA from everyone to make Cell, else that would have been a losing battle to begin with. It was satisfying to see him get blown up time and time again.
