Anything to get a reaction, no matter how petty.

In semi-related news, AnimeTwitter found another offender of Funimation script meddling that I talked about earlier: Interviews with Monster Girls (2017) .

(edited for spelling and links)

I actually liked that show.
These idiots still have not got it through their thick skulls that anime fans don't like it when the script is altered.
It's understandable if its about lip flaps, but its quite the leap if someone inserts their political jargon into a scene that did not have equivalence in Japanese.

See, this is a edit that I fucking hate.
Count the open mouth frames. They cut and edited the keyframes to fit this line.

That's $20,000 of wasted time for literally gross negative net result effort.

WHO THE FUCK PUSHED THIS TO SIMULCAST?!?!?!?

Voice of Krillin and Bardock in DBZ, voice of Usopp in One Piece, voice of the first TOM on Cartoon Network's Toonami (before Steve Blum took over voicing the character).

I actually didn't know about all of this sjw bullshit happening in dubs since i always watch subs. And the only dubs i have watched are from some of the old shows like black lagoon.

Pisses me of in this case specially since that show is really good. Would probably be in my top 10 list of anime from 2017 if i were to make one.

Holy fuck, doesn't editting mouth flaps alone get you in trouble with the creators? I get it Funimation gives their underpaid newbies/unpopular VAs the unpopular/trashy shows to give them something to do, but why are they allowed to pull this shit?

Pity the whale is only suspended.

Nick responded to soy so he saw the tweet. It also looks like soy either didn't actually lawyer up or is ignoring his lawyer. If soy did lawyer up I wonder why the lawyer hasn't explained the representation is for soy alone. Not the "we'" in the tweet. Or did soy miss that part?

Dude is setting himself up for failure. Nick can't see his tweets so him going all ham about redacting his statement will get thrown out in court once its found out Nick could not even see what Ron was saying. Just basic logic thrown out the window.

He’s playing Monkey see, monkey do. He’s trying to upstage the Lawyers by mimicking back the sorts of things they have sent him in an absurd and stupid gotcha game. Not realizing that as a matter of training and practice, Lawyers, even drunken YouTube Lawyers, generally know what they are doing in this regard. Whereas Ron is just copying with no understanding.

Ron's not saying it for Nick. He's virtue signalling to his friends in KV.

I don't think it's even that. Seems to me he just got tired of getting verbally bitchslapped by Nick any time he tried to be snide and dismissive, so he's made it so that he can pop off at the mouth and feel like the victor when Nick doesn't answer back.

This is unlikely. I would check the raw for myself to confirm, but I don't know what episode this is from.

There are a bunch of reasons why the lip flaps are almost never altered to accommodate a longer or shorter translation when dubbing a show. Aside from the cost, it would change the run time of the show. This can throw off any music that accompanies a scene. It can be done, but it's not worth the trouble.

If the Japanese and English video tracks weren't the exact same, then they'd need additional space on the physical media release to include both.

Thought he was responding to this John Drake guy. I mean he may have seen what Ron had said from other sources and used him to respond to Ron in a sense but Nick could deny he knew what Ron said.

In a short answer, yes.

They get away with it because you, the unwashed masses, don't hear about it, don't notice it, and stupid ass CR shills lead uninformed people to believe that it doesn't matter.

I didn't see this reply from getting mentioned.View attachment 708698

Sources for what? Retraction for what? Nick kept saying that his statements were based off of reliable sources. Nothing was definitive or defamatory.

You’ve been making a lot of empty threats, La Choy.

And La Choy, what’s the point of protecting your tweets if you’re still responding to Nick about Vic? Kiwi Farms can still see the tweets you make about him. That statement you said sounds malicious as fuck. Also, Nick has actual proof that you were defaming him: your own ethics complaint to the Minnesota Bar.

Personally I've never once clicked a dub on CR or any other service.

So I don't even notice it a lot of the time because I don't fucking watch subs to begin with.

There's a way to manipulate keyframes in the editing room with affecting the overall runtime.

You should know this, @KaiserNeko of TFS makes a point about displaying and explaining these kinds of edits in videos.

You just switch around mouth keyframes, speed up or slow down the footage and masking tool over the mouth and draw new mouth flaps, and then stealth them in on a resynced trackline in the secondary edit on the master track.

Then you blend, match the footage and see if anyone can tell the difference.

I can tell that this is edited because of the quality of the " meep" line on the closed mouth frames.

Lips in movement are supposed to have two keyframes: the neutral mouth () and the anime "lens flare" line ( _)

At :02, I can see a dip in the line pixels with the character coming off screen, and it persists through the spoken performance on every closed mouth frame.

At :02, the character hasn't even said a word yet. It's supposed to be there.

Where is the neutral lip to show the mouth in a pursed lip rest state?

The neutral lip line is literally ERASED, my guy.

So, they did some form of edit and pixel edited the lips and red zone.

But this isn't something I can outright confirm without the master studio cutting room floor edit, the raw, and a full speed cut of the simulcast, gone over with a fine tooth comb.

Maybe I'm wrong, and I'll happily accept that L, but I have a feeling I'm not.

Update: I was wrong about it for this show, proved it later on.
