How is it not obvious that Rockstar's intentionally making Red Dead Online utter shit - (The latest updates says otherwise)

TL;DR for this thread: RDR2’s basically in the same boat as GTA5: the offline mode, whether you love or hate R*, clearly has tons of effort put in it, but online is MTX-filled dogshit

He basically said that there is no way they could make a parody of the US with the way everyone is acting and didn't even want to try. I can't blame him.
If he makes fun of the left, Antifa throws molotovs at his office building, he makes fun of the right, 4chan spergs find where he lives and ship dead animals to his house and harrass his family and personal friends on social media, either way he’s fucked

I'm still salty that we never got any GTA5 dlc because the game was practically made for it. One of the biggest missed opportunities in video game history.

I thought this way but then I looked at how horrid every pc port has been up to gta5. Like we can even cite san andreas as being a step backwards from vice city in certain aspects (control, lack of xinput without scripting). Then we look at gta4 being a step back from gtasa in terms of sheer playability and content. THEN we look at RDD and its single dlc, lolzombies, and finally understand that even lazlow was trying to quietly hint that the company gives no fucks at all during gta4s release. Like he all but said "this game is not finished, we can do soo much better" when he noted that they were IN THE PROCESS of building a living game world. Not that they successfully had.

I just wish they would stop updating gta5 and changing the ordinals so we could play with mods regularly without waiting in scripthook updates or having to clone the entire damn game folder and crack it so it doesnt force you to go online for validation every week. I seriously despise rockstar just for that last bit at this point.

Tbf, Undead Nightmare was kinda fun as a stupid fun expansion and at the time, Zombies weren’t THAT oversaturated in games. It wasn’t until like 2012 (around the time RE6 came out) when zombies had officially become a joke gimmick

Since the RDR2 thread is basically dead, I’ll just share thus weird abombination here. It’s from a “Rockstar dev” claiming that Art was gonna be gay and that Micah was gonna be a nonce. It’s likely fake, but both his weird claims and the ways he REEEEEEs at his “old bosses” and people telling him to show evidence in comment replies are fucking comical http://archive.li/6HQTd

Houser said “not during this US presidential term”. He joked that it’s so Trump spergs and Antifa Asshats don’t reeee at them, but I’m guessing it could also mean that there’s something else in the pipeline. Maybe Bully?
The Bully speculation has been out there for a while, on the Rockstar YouTube page they do have one hidden video that people on the GTA Forums noticed... could be for an upcoming update to GTA Online or maybe for something else. If they want to avoid the current year politics they could always turn GTA 6 into a spiritual successor to Vice City, they could set it in the 80's and add more of the state of Florida to it (if the made it kinda like the Scarface game that would be awesome).

In terms of Red Dead Online, I haven't played the game because I'm waiting for the inevitable double dip in unit sales when they release on PC (most likely according to leaks). These are the issues I have observed from watching videos on it:

-Complicated Economy (level locks, premium currency)
-Shitty grind
-Lack of big ticket things to buy
-Lack of properties/businesses
-Lack of PvE content (no heist type missions which were very popular in GTA)
-Can't play with just your friends in freeroam
-Game is just a more complicated reskin of GTA Online

From what I've seen it's having the same problems that the initial GTA Online launch had with lack of content on top of shitty grind and an even worse version of Shark Cards that pretty much force everyone to get them since there's no easy way to grind gold bars in the game. There's tons of potential for the game but they've shot themselves in the foot right at the start by repeating what they did with the GTAO launch.

Also they can't really sell people flying motorcycles, tanks, or orbital cannons in a wild west game so they're banking on the gold bar gimmick and paywalling or level locking items behind the gold which doesn't seem to be going well. The Shark Card kids don't want to play a western game and would rather blow up people in chrome tanks, that's one chunk of individuals who aren't playing. The people who are busy IRL and don't want to grind and buy microtransactions don't have much content so they have no incentive to play the game, all Rockstar has are whales and die hard fans that will buy microtransactions.

GTA Online is a clusterfuck especially in a freeroam public lobby but it can be fun if you play with just friends and away from random people, but it seems like Red Dead Online doesn't want people to mess around in freeroam by themselves or with just friends they're forcing players into PvP situations which turns off a lot of more casual players. It can be argued GTA's grind is bad but if you know what you're doing (and know how to make your own public lobby only you and friends can join) you can make a lot of money in game where you don't have to buy Shark Cards, there's not many means nor any incentive for people to grind in Red Dead.

If Rockstar wants to salvage things they'd need to add more PvE content, make it easier to play with just your friends, add cool things to buy that's not just cosmetics, and change how the gold bars work (I think using gold to buy levellocked items is fine but I don't think there should be 'gold only' items). They also need to find a way to make the game unique, it's literally just a more complicated GTA Online, what they should do is pay attention to how well the FiveM mod is doing in terms of all the Twitch streamers playing it recently. All FiveM does is add RP elements to the game, there's tons of potential there for content to add and with the added content there's more incentive for people to buy gold, and if the Shark Card kid sees his favorite Twitch streamer playing Red Dead Online they might decide to steal moms credit card again to buy some gold.

I don't know if Cockstar is entirely to blame for it. Let us not forget that Take Two are their slavemasters, and, if R* does not do what they say, people there risk getting fired.
The fact you all won't acknowledge this and still bitch about a game designed for single player having a shitty online mode. I mean fuck. Look at Borderlands 2. 7 unneeded and overly expensive DLCs. Gearbox was just willing to take the effort, and make it seem good. If you never owned them, they're just an overpriced add on, and I've seen the game in both states.

I agree, don't get me wrong, but it's Take Two's problem. Everyone already passed on the multiplayer except people with paid partnerships on YouTube and the idiots who follow them.

As terrible as this sounds, Epic and 343 have more to offer you for multiplayer right now, even if they're jewing you. They're offering more money for the creator, and that's what makes games. Money. And a comfortable, ever forward envoirnment. Don't forget that.

RDO’s kinda in the same boat as Fallout 76 (albeit much less awful) where Rockstar is trying to turn a story centric, personal adventure into a goofy multiplayer shooter and it’s not working. At least with GTAO, the goofy multiplayer modes kinda work since GTA’s already batshit and and ridiculous. I play RDR to be a cowboy and do cowboy shit, I play GTA to be batshit crazy. Trying to make the somber cowboy game like the wacky crime sim will give you a wonky final product

ResetERA has quite the hateboner for RDR2 and unlike 4chan’s usual “fuck western cinematic games” schtick their responses seem a lot more bitter and angry
Knowing these chucklefucks, they’re probably mad that it isn’t “culturally relevant” like God Of War 4 or Far Cry 5

It makes sense for ResetERA to hate RDR2, it's a Rockstar game and Rockstar shits on everyone's political beliefs, you could probably call them the South Park of video game developers. Once it comes to PC I'll definitely buy it regardless of the shitty Online mode, the single player looks magnificent.

It’s funny how they call RDR2 a bland, mechanically wonky cinematic game, yet these same niggers happily gobble up woke interactive cutscene games like Detroit BH or Life is Strange. Guessing part of it is their Sony bias, they REALLY love GOW4 even though it’s not exactly the most mechanically sound game on the PS4 and the possibility of someone ranking RDR2 over GOW4 on a GOTY 2018 list bothers them

I assume these are the same chucklefucks who think Depression Quest is an all-time great game? LOL

As an aside, while I appreciate both God of War and RDR2, I really think it's a travesty how GoW got the nod over RDR2 for GotY in the recent VGAs. The level of detail Rockstar put into RDR2 is insane, as well as the number of interacting systems they developed. Maybe RDR2 wasn't woke enough for the judges, dunno (probably got docked points for the reeing suffragette in Saint Denis). Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, though, just putting it out there.

I doubt RDR2 is fucking perfect and I kinda expect the usually “movie games are for dumb niggers” crowd to dislike it, but again, these guys are fucking morons who probably just wanna sound smart for disliking popular games that aren’t woke

Calm reminder that GTA: Online was barebone as fuck and had nothing in it to do for years.
This is true, it also doesn't help that Rockstar is notorious for being extremely secretive for upcoming updates and content. GTA Online as an example, they keep upcoming DLC under raps until it's like a week or two from release depending on the size of the update with few exceptions (the most recent one being the Nightclub DLC due to long delays they announced it way in advance). They really don't like data miners either which could explain why there was no initial PC release for both Red Dead and GTA because they didn't want people snooping through the files, they even told a guy who had insider contacts and leaked a lot of DLCs months in advance to basically stop or we'll sue you. The only leaks we'll get now will probably be from 4chan because outside of that one dude they told to stop that's the only other place where actual legit leaks have come from. For all we know they could have a ton of content lined up because they do tend to make this stuff months and months prior to release, the drip feed they're notorious for is beyond annoying for the most part I understand why they do it but from a consumer perspective it's really annoying and I wish they'd just stop doing it.

Could also be they're waiting to see what people want before they drop anything major, they did recently revamp their feedback section and according to some of the YT's I've watched they do seem to listen and have made some tweeks to the game that people were asking for.

True, but this type of online doesn’t translate nearly as well as it does in GTA. RDR’s main selling point has never been chaos, unlike GTA.
Well, try suggesting in their feedback page for a "living world" mode where you basically get to play the same world as Arthur, all the wildlife and people at maximum spawnage, but on your own or with friends. Not that you can do much in RDO at the moment, but to be honest I'd just want to wander around without having to deal with bullshit. It's pretty cozy.

You mean like MH?

Yes, but for RDO. Just doing things in that world that Arthur can do in single player, etc. As soon as they start enabling that, anyways, I just want a proper populated world to pretend I'm a cowboy in.

I sort of think this is the direction they're going in, they've probably taken notice how popular GTA RP mods like FiveM have been and their current popularity with streamers. People like being able to pretend to be a cop, or firefighter, or whatever and there was a recent article Rockstar put out that had a part at the end of it that made me think they're gonna go more RP heavy with Red Dead Online:

To me this could mean adding skills or professions (classes) similar to a traditional MMO. GTA Online was much simpler, everyone starts out as a criminal and eventually becomes a Batman villain with underground lairs and access to military hardware... but you're still a criminal. For Red Dead they could allow people to become outlaws, deputies, hunters, doctors, merchants, anything western like and I think they'd get some players back as long as there's content tied to having some kind of occupation. Unfortunately at this point we'll just have to wait and see.

Trolling in it was always fun. Like when it first came out and had the glitch where you could store a tank in your garage and make it your personal vehicle meaning it had normal non-nerfed to shit HP and anyone who actually managed to destroy it got slapped for a ridiculous insurance change. There was nothing more fun than picking whichever person in the session had a mic and was talking and then just repeatedly murdering them (because most of the time they were too stupid to go into passive mode) while they got more and more pissed off. And the PvE missions were fun enough grinding with a friend for a while.

RDR has nothing in it because of the setting. Your only options are single-shot weapons and horses. And with the auto-aim gunfights always just devolve into battles to see who can pull up on the right analog stick faster. GTA eventually added shit like the truck that worked like the car in Crackdown that would send any vehicle in ran into flying 50 feet into the air. All there is to anticipate in RDR is shiner horses.
