Inactive Andrew Dobson / Tom Preston / CattyN - STOP DOING SEXIST CRAP

Annihilation just came out last year, that had a mostly female cast, and didn't act like it was the second coming of feminist Jesus.

Elizabeth Swann in the PotC movies was flawed but determined, had a great character arc, and ended up being a pirate king, for Pete's sake.

Oh so older female characters aren't relevant or impactful, Dobson? Are you implying that something with the label of 'female' on it doesn't matter? How sexist!

Anyone could play this game with him. The problem is that Dobbo wouldn't let 'em play it for long without blocking them, the coward.
When someone claims that (strong) female lead characters in movies are pretty much invented with MaRey Sue and Mar-Vel-Sue and someone mentions a classic movie like The Wizard of Oz, that doesn't mean the person is scraping the bottom of the barrel by reaching for the 30s, it means that the whole point has been invalid since the fucking 30s.

I don't get these goldfish people at all. They were told Ghostbustettes was new and amazing since it featured female characters 8as if that was something new and unheard of) and people lapped it up. And now they lap it up with every other movie. Come next year, we'll have some other movie with a shitty agenda attached to its marketing and it'll be "This female character is the first example of the new female lead roles that have been unheard of until now!" all over again.

I notice no one brought up Ellen Ripley. Easily the greatest female sci-fi movie character of all time.

"Name a female main character... in a movie... in the last few years... that's American..." what next, does it have to be a movie he has heard of?
"... whose name starts with F... the movie also has to have a budget of exactly 35 Million dollars... and it must have been released in June... " Dobson shouts ever more annoyed as he's flooded with answers.

No really, Dobson is incapable of arguing his way out of a wet paper bag.
His 3 techniques are moving goalposts, start meta-discussions and blocking the other person while declaring himself the victor.

name a female character...
...who's been in a movie...
...who's name is the name of the movie she's in...
...who's been in any movie after 2017...
...who doesn't rely on man for anything at any points...
...who hints at being a lesbian...
...who defeats the main villain effortlessly...
...who has no flaws...
...who doesn't have any masculine traits (because that means it's a male power fantasy)...
...who mentions her vagina at least once...
...who says shit like "girl power"...
...who goes "tch, men" at least once...
...who is the best at everything she does...
...who is loved by everyone...
CAN YOU NAME ANY WOMAN LIKE THAT? HUH?
THATS WHAT I THOUGHT

Or focusing on an inconsequential and unrelated comment the person made and taking the conversation wildly off track in order to avoid being called out.

That's what I meant with a meta-discussion, where he'll start arguing semantics or some irrelevant detail, just so he can distract from the original point that was made to refute his statement.

Dobson's such a dense motherfucker that when someone brings up older occasions, he doesn't even SEE that, it's just "Ugh it was SO LONG AGO, and there haven't been ANY since and ugh Sarah Connor doesn't count because ARNOLD was the STAR in Terminator even though he was the BAD GUY". His usage of "good" and bait-and-switch definitions of it is downright exceptional because he is such an exceptional autist.

Were people even naming a lot of non-American movies aside from some anime? Hell, I think that it's an even bigger deal for Japan since socially they never left the 50's.
Someone mentioned all magical girl anime and Dobson got really pissy about it. “WHAT ANIME? WHO IN PARTICULAR?”
