Yeah, that post on TKOH forums pretty much sums it up: even IF the tax donations weren't used for this whole wedding thing, the timing is SO extremely bad that you give even long-time fans and people of good faith reason to doubt the whole tax situation thing. I can't think of one reason why it had to be done exactly now, other than it giving him some kind of tax benefit before he's due to pay up on April 15th. It doesn't make sense at all from whatever angle you look at it...

I'm currently leaning towards the theory that he felt he had some room to breathe due to the - let's be frank here - exorbitant amount of money that was thrown his way the past couple of months so he could "afford" to not make money for about a week. If that's not the case, I normally would think: sure, go see your parents at some point, but NOT in the final week before your self-proclaimed "make or break" moment of your life. Like... do it in May or June or something?

If there was some long con going on, I would expect her to be the one to file a divorce citing a jackass who plays video games all day and collects donations that way, then garnish his wages while she looks for another sucker.

In all fairness to DSP, this was not a huge wedding. Looking at everything I don't think he could have spent more than $1500 which is incredibly modest, the irony is he was begging days before crying he was going to be homeless. I think his parents probably payed for everything anyway, that's the vibe I'm getting from all of this, mommy and daddy Burnell cashed out some kind of retirement for this trip & wedding. DSP looks like he was sobbing right before that wedding picture with Khet, perhaps out of pure shame.

I was just gonna say...the rings and dress look old as dirt...wouldn’t surprise me in the least if they’re hand me downs. I would be shocked if it’s anywhere near $1,500.

That's true, either way I don't think DSP payed with any of his own money. It was all probably a gift from his parents, which actually would make sense a lot of parents do that for their kids. So I don't think this a vast conspiracy, if the engagement ring isn't a hand me down then maybe he blew some money on it for Christmas but I mean he didn't spend much, let alone $15k on anything related to that wedding. The funniest thing is he secretly started dating Kat and secretly married her in the span of a year while poor Panda didn't even get an engagement ring until it was already over. He literally married Kat the same day he got engaged to Leanna, the spite man.

-You used a good grip of "tax money" to pay for things such as the marriage, eating out, etc.

If this was completely on the level why did he not say anything about being engaged to Kat, or intending to marry her? Why make the huge production of "d'haw haw hawwww I can't marry her now! No munny!!! Alotta debt dood!"? And don't say it was just a smokescreen - if Phil just doesn't want to do something he doesn't give a reason, he just ignores the question/proposition or mocks it. Why not just say "it's not the right time for us in our relationship to do something like that"? And if he did intend to marry her, why couldn't he just be vague but positive? "Yeah, I absolutely intend to marry her, but we'd prefer it to be a private, more intimate thing"? Vehement denial isn't how you convince people you didn't intend to do a thing when you go off and do the thing the next week. That's called "evasive maneuvers" and it's a big fucking red flag for people who are used to just seeing normal, everyday behavior.

A lot of the tax begging lore does begin with Khet coming into the picture.

I wouldn't be surprised at this point. Hell, that's one of the first things that popped into my mind whenever he was begging about taxes in the Fall of 2017 and Khet made an appearance.

To play devil's advocate in regards to this little theory... Khet doesn't seem particularly high maintenance since she agreed for her marriage to take place at a private ceremony with only Phil and his parents' and have the reception in a home that doesn't even break the $200,000 mark.

Phil is the equivalent of the friend that begs you for money to buy ramen to last him for the week until his check clears. Goes out to hit on girls and blow it all on a cigs and cheap beer then complains how hungry he is in a late night random text.
