Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

I've been thinking about this for a long time now and though it may not be a very popular opinion considering the circumstances I think we should really try and get to the root of where all of this #KickVic hate sprang up from. Obviously we know about the religion angle but what if I told you there's actually a little more to it beyond Vic just being successful and a bit evangelical? I'm not making any accusations of anything illegal, rather I want to shed a light on the thought process behind such anger that could lead someone like the people of #KickVic. To be honest I can almost sympathize with them on some level. Almost. You see, as an avid american fan of anime I have seen quite a lot of dubs. Many of these dubs often featured current big #KickVic names such as Monica Rial, Chris Sabat, Jamie Marchi, and even Vic himself. I would go as far to say that I have seen them all in a wide variety of roles, though admittedly some more than others. The reason why I mentioned this is because when I look back on it within the context of the drama that is #KickVic I can clearly make out a gap in actual talent between many of the VAs. What's interesting about this is that while Monica for instance has a decent range of voices at her disposal Vic does not. They're certainly both get typecast pretty hard but Monica has shown on several occasions that while she's no Steve Blum by any stretch of the imagination, she can shine with the right director and script. Vic just doesn't have that kind of raw talent and yet he's seen as something of an anime icon. I'd hazard a guess that even many casual anime fans have at least heard his name, but Monica's? I highly doubt it. This whole #KickVic thing may have even been a good opportunity to get some of the notoriety she probably deserved if she hadn't been so involved. Sabat is another case entirely though. He's more like Vic talent and fame wise but if I had to compare the two I'd say Sabat has more talent by a smidgen and Vic is arguably more popular. I know we all suspected there was some level of jealousy going on there but I felt that line of thinking needed trotted over again for what I'm about to say next. Try to look at it from their perspective and imagine how long that anger and jealousy has been festering inside of them. This new wave of feminism and Trump Derangement Syndrome was the perfect excuse for them to finally make the jump from simply spreading rumors to full blown accusations. It was a perfect storm that just so happened to give them an outlet for the hate tha had been building up for so long. The best part is that whether they win or lose, it won't make them feel any better. It won't change what has happened or even get them the recognition they so desperately want. That's right. No matter who wins, #KickVic will lose. It's kind of like how even if you transition from male to female or vice versa you can never really erase or rewrite the past. The memories will always be there to haunt you.

Fun Fact: Jamie Marchi, Monica Rial, and Chris Sabat were all in Burst Angel(2005) together. At the time Jamie and Monica as voice actors really seemed opposed or at least neutral towards feminism and even seemed to make quite a few racy jokes that I'm sure current Monica and Jamie would disagree with.
I would make an argument that Vic can actually extend his range when he needs to, (see Broly, Ed and Qrow).
But I agree with everything else.

I would rather have a single realllly good voice than a bunch of meh ones.

This why Patrick Warburton is ?
I don't know if I'd call her voices meh. Certainly the Bulma type voices she gets all the time, but beyond that there are a treasure trove of really nice ones like as I mentioned in the other reply, and this is just the two most impressive ones I can think of off the top off my head, Hello Kitty and Jo(Burst Angel). Polar opposites voice wise. I mean she may be a cunt as a person but I recognize talent when I see it.

I've been thinking about that, recently. Why Shane and Toye can't just seem to shut the fuck up. Maybe they're trying to white knight, throw themselves onto the muddle puddle and in front of the firing line to protect m'ladies. Maybe they think that the more time is spent looking at them, the more money is being spent, the less funds Vic will have to go after the actual heads of the exceptional snake.

Or, more likely, they're just really stupid, and my brain is just trying to rationalize why they keep doing so many things that are clearly so detrimental to themselves.

To understand any of the madness, you HAVE to look to history because all this has happened before. It's all laid out for all to see, however most people either refuse to look or simply will not connect the dots.

These are all radical leftists. First and foremost. Trump has nothing to do with it other than being 'not radical left.' Republicans or conservatives in general, likewise. Christians are hated because the concepts of Christianity stand as a polar opposite to most of what the radical left believes.

When the various flavors of 'Brownshirts' in Stalinist Russia, Mao's China, Hitler's Germany or every other third world socialist wannabee country made their bids to take power, they didn't begin with automatic weapons and bombs. they began with whisper campaigns and propaganda to destabilize the current society/populations of the time. They accused those of power and influence of all manner of heinous crimes and actions with zero proof. Their 'proof' came in repeating 'the big lie', regardless of what lie was needed at the moment.

They spent considerable effort on the youth of the given cultures, convincing them black was white and up was down. Education became co-opted as did entertainment/celebrities and as time and power progressed, any dissenting voices were locked out and often disappeared.

At a certain threshold, the violence began and the history books record it all. But the radical left of old got it's start doing VERBATIM the very things we see with groups like Kick Vic/Anti-Comicsgate, Anti-Gamergate, Me Too, Environmental extremism et all.

The Shanes and Rons and Monicas arent simply stupid. They are "Useful Idiots" in the historical sense. They are doing what they do because of their politics and that political view's grab for power. They have been taught, as their predecessors before them, to propagandize, lie and destroy the system, regardless of what 'the system' may be, because it stands as a bulwark to the Utopian vision of their handlers.

Follow the money/power trail backwards. You see common names/groups feeding them their talking points. The feminism/partiarchy BS. The anti christian attitudes. The Orange Man Bad rhetoric. None of it is their original thinking. They just act as the shock troops delivering the 'message' and carrying out the enforcement. Just like the useless idiots of days gone by. The difference is that instead of a Stalin/KGM/Mao et all pulling the strings, you have the feminist/ANTIFA/DNC.

Same Communism, different century.

Michiko Malandros is a good one that people rarely mention.

The plot potentially thickens a bit, since it looks like RbW may have deleted or self-deactivated, potentially. Krissy seems to have been complaining about RbW leaving her holding the bag with backlash over the TUG CPS threats. There's a bit of extra infighting in the thread:

Too bad a bunch of the tweets are already unavailable, but I found this bit interesting:

I think that SJW movements always have two groups

1. Brainwashed cultists

2. Profiting Puppetmasters

You have the people that become rich or famous or both off of things like gamergate or #metoo, the publications that make tons of money off of outrage and propaganda (CNN exec literally on video saying they made up the russia story for ratings)

But on the other hand you have the morons who earnestly support the profit and rise to fame/power of people who are not even trying to do anything good or worthwhile. These people will help push for censorship to fuck up good products, support shitty products, and clamor for the government to take their rights away and for corporations to police our actions

This is more or less how cults work. Social justice is a cult and the truly dangerous ones are the ones who are benefiting whereas the contemptible fools are the ones martyring themselves

Compare and contrast the people setting up gofundmes to follow in the footsteps of anita sarkeesian to the people like shane who have nothing to gain and everything to lose

This is Civil. Jury selection is typically more streamlined and the lawyers don’t get much in the way of rejections. It varies by jurisdiction, but in Civil I think you typically need cause to reject a juror. An obvious conflict of interest. A lot of places do not allow peremptory (sp?) challenges for Civil. I could be wrong but I think Civil in Texas uses 6 jurors, not 12. That’s if the litigants want a jury trial.often in Civil they elect for bench. It’s also extremely rare for a civil matter to even reach a jury. It could end long before that either via settlement or motion for summary judgement.

Nick seems to believe this will be in federal court, whether because of diversity jurisdiction or federal causes of action. That would be between six and 12 jurors. If it's under state law, they may choose six to track state law, although it's not really that important.

The rule is pretty simple:

Rule 47. Selecting Jurors
(a) Examining Jurors. The court may permit the parties or their attorneys to examine prospective jurors or may itself do so. If the court examines the jurors, it must permit the parties or their attorneys to make any further inquiry it considers proper, or must itself ask any of their additional questions it considers proper.

(b) Peremptory Challenges. The court must allow the number of peremptory challenges provided by 28 U.S.C. §1870.

(c) Excusing a Juror. During trial or deliberation, the court may excuse a juror for good cause.

Notes
(As amended Feb. 28, 1966, eff. July 1, 1966; Apr. 30, 1991, eff. Dec. 1, 1991; Apr. 30, 2007, eff. Dec. 1, 2007.)

And that law says: "In civil cases, each party shall be entitled to three peremptory challenges."

My prediction as to number of dangerhairs in the jury pool: 0.

And yes, if you see that person sitting there, you just use one of your peremptories and say GTFO. You need no explanation whatsoever.
