I would make an argument that Vic can actually extend his range when he needs to, (see Broly, Ed and Qrow).I've been thinking about this for a long time now and though it may not be a very popular opinion considering the circumstances I think we should really try and get to the root of where all of this #KickVic hate sprang up from. Obviously we know about the religion angle but what if I told you there's actually a little more to it beyond Vic just being successful and a bit evangelical? I'm not making any accusations of anything illegal, rather I want to shed a light on the thought process behind such anger that could lead someone like the people of #KickVic. To be honest I can almost sympathize with them on some level. Almost. You see, as an avid american fan of anime I have seen quite a lot of dubs. Many of these dubs often featured current big #KickVic names such as Monica Rial, Chris Sabat, Jamie Marchi, and even Vic himself. I would go as far to say that I have seen them all in a wide variety of roles, though admittedly some more than others. The reason why I mentioned this is because when I look back on it within the context of the drama that is #KickVic I can clearly make out a gap in actual talent between many of the VAs. What's interesting about this is that while Monica for instance has a decent range of voices at her disposal Vic does not. They're certainly both get typecast pretty hard but Monica has shown on several occasions that while she's no Steve Blum by any stretch of the imagination, she can shine with the right director and script. Vic just doesn't have that kind of raw talent and yet he's seen as something of an anime icon. I'd hazard a guess that even many casual anime fans have at least heard his name, but Monica's? I highly doubt it. This whole #KickVic thing may have even been a good opportunity to get some of the notoriety she probably deserved if she hadn't been so involved. Sabat is another case entirely though. He's more like Vic talent and fame wise but if I had to compare the two I'd say Sabat has more talent by a smidgen and Vic is arguably more popular. I know we all suspected there was some level of jealousy going on there but I felt that line of thinking needed trotted over again for what I'm about to say next. Try to look at it from their perspective and imagine how long that anger and jealousy has been festering inside of them. This new wave of feminism and Trump Derangement Syndrome was the perfect excuse for them to finally make the jump from simply spreading rumors to full blown accusations. It was a perfect storm that just so happened to give them an outlet for the hate tha had been building up for so long. The best part is that whether they win or lose, it won't make them feel any better. It won't change what has happened or even get them the recognition they so desperately want. That's right. No matter who wins, #KickVic will lose. It's kind of like how even if you transition from male to female or vice versa you can never really erase or rewrite the past. The memories will always be there to haunt you.
Fun Fact: Jamie Marchi, Monica Rial, and Chris Sabat were all in Burst Angel(2005) together. At the time Jamie and Monica as voice actors really seemed opposed or at least neutral towards feminism and even seemed to make quite a few racy jokes that I'm sure current Monica and Jamie would disagree with.
But I agree with everything else.
