Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

I thought Vic honestly looks like he's aged about ten years, and it's only April, but then I looked back at the picture of him working with Monica from just last year, and he still looks the same. But yeah, I have no doubt he's probably stricken with grief, but he just looked so happy to be with his fans in all the other pictures coming in today, so it's a balancing act for him, currently.

Poor Vic, really.
Considering he probably feels bad for Kameha con getting all this bad rep I can understand why he's sad. It could also be because he knows all his friends that back stabbed him is there and he cannot actively thank all his fans and make them enjoy the Con like he used to or wants to do now.

Never say sorry to a blue heired feminazi never apologize.

The fans chanting "BROLY! BROLY! BROLY!" and getting hyped as fuck when Vic came onstage warms my heart. I hope the warm welcome cheered Vic up some. He deserves it.

KamehaCon seems to be going smoothly from all the reports and Vic still has support from his fans, so I have hope this will work out in the end and Vic will be vindicated in the end.

Especially once the con is over, the lawsuits, and the papers start getting served.

Something I have considered about this....

The Weeb Wars might be the first true major defeat for the SJW's in the Culture Wars that's not directly tied to political stuff like the 2016 Election, Kavanaugh, or the Mueller Report.

Even the setbacks they have had with GamerGate and ComicsGate still weren't enough to keep them from chugging on and they still had the mainstream narrative in support of them and seemed to be winning in the long run (especially during GamerGate) but now all their main tactics are proving to be ineffective or backfiring completely.

Anime is the last major aspect of "geek culture" that hasn't been been sanitized and hipster-ized, and conversely is the one that the "geek chic" crowd finds the most problematic and it seems the attempts of the dangerhairs to colonize the anime fandom are failing and this may be the decisive victory if it goes well.

Vic didn't back down and instead lawyered up, and "Listen and Believe" doesn't really hold up in a court of law, especially when the evidence is pointing to Vic's innocence and shady doings at Funimation.

Toei is even getting involved to protect their IP's, whereas Disney seems to be content on letting the comic book industry die off as long as they can keep the IP's as a property farm for movies and TV.

But the tides are turning. The mainstream media hasn't even paid any real attention to the Weeb Wars or Kick Vic, and Renfamous even got suspended from Twitter despite her socio-political stances. Vic has kept his cool but hasn't backed down, unlike the others who got #MeToo'd on dubious claims and had their lives ruined as a result, and now it's coming apart.

This may be it. I think we're going to win this one in the long term. It will get worse before it gets better, but the end of KickVic will be the true turning point.

To use a historical analogy, this is like the American Civil War of pop culture with Social Justice/Identity Politics being the "States Rights" defense, the lefty coastal elites in media and academia are like the Southern plantation aristocracy, and the Millennial SJW's in online geekdom are the soldiers of the Confederate Army, lowly cannon fodder duped into fighting a war that is against their own supposed interests.

GamerGate was the first real wake-up call and while it was a worthless shit show in the end, it kicked the whole thing into high gear.

GamerGate was like Bull Run, while the Weeb Wars will be like Gettysburg.

Another example of the turning tide is something I have observed in tabletop games...

The somewhat more successful attempts to colonize tabletop gaming with woke hipster bullshit is starting to experience backlash as well outside of Magic: The Gathering.

Every attempt at making Warhammer 40K woke has failed and met with harsh resistance, RPGnet is now a joke in the hobby and is losing the momentum it built up in the 2000's, Pathfinder 2E doesn't seem to be doing well at all, GenCon 50 was such a biased shitshow because of Anita and Jeremy getting done wrong that several people are walking out and going to GaryCon instead, and despite the attempts to make D&D 5E woke, most people outside the official games sponsored by WOTC are ignoring it and just playing their own games using the core books.

Meanwhile on the other parts of the RPG hobby, the backlash is also apparent in places where the woke mentality was once dominant...Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition turned out to be a colossal flop that alienated the established fans and despite all efforts, was not sufficiently "woke" enough for the dangerhairs (essentially killing the White Wolf brand), Beast: The Primordial also failed and Onyx Path can barely keep its head above water and is going to likely sink now that the well of 20th Anniversary Editions of the old games has dried up.

I think the pendulum is finally swinging back against the SJW's in our culture, slowly but surely.

You might want to go check out the Meyer v Waid lawsuit thread. Papers from the discovery depositions dropped today. Holy shit is it glorious. Comicsgate May have scored a killshot. And it’s applicable to what’s going on here. Same jurisdictions, same laws, same causes of action.

And part of Disney’s disassociation with Marvel is they quite literally hate that they have it and have to keep it. Disney has always hated being a publisher. That’s why they quickly shuttered things like Lucasarts and farmed it out to a third party.

The critical factor, which started with Richard Meyer and Jeremy Hambly (love him or hate him), was the willingness of those of us who are fed up to crowdfund civil lawsuits.

Nick Rekieta understood from observing those two cases that setting up the Vic Kicks Back GFM could turn things around.

I think this may be the funny thing Nick was talking about because it is fucking hilarious.

I didn't bully you right? x 10+ lol

comics gate is a succes too. but they made a mistake, you can make a comic with 3 guys and they went after some real good artists. EVS was always good, doug was always succesfull and the elisabeth breitweise is the best in her field, hands down. the comics are delivered ontime, or hae very good updates on the delay and they are making SOO much money.

I will also add that there is a new Kenshin series made by the aforementioned pedo being published in Japan at the moment. When the news came out about artist's tendencies, Viz dropped that new series as fast possible. Funimation would look SUPER hypocritical and awful if they brought over these new movies when even the company that is owned by the same publisher for Kenshin refuses to resume releasing the new series in English.
Am I the only person that hated Kenshin BEFORE the writer turned out to be a pedo? That show was absolutely awful.

Honestly, I hope shit goes down on the 16th or later just so I can see Shane and Ms. Choy make a complete and utter fools out of themselves. Just imagine Shane showing up here monday to gloat and be smug saying shit like "I guess your grifting lawyer lied to you" "turns out there's no lawsuit huh :)".
One of the best things is that even if no filings show up on the 15th, the soyboys have to say and pray for that reality everyday for the next 2 years (somebody mentioned 4 year limitation, but i think it's 2).

It's glorious and it's only one person doing one act of TI with contract and defamation. Christ, can you imagine what the WW filings will look like.

I'd like to make note that this thread already has more pages than Dragon Ball has episodes across all TV series. DB + Z + GT + Kai + Super only equals 806 episodes.

It's also rapidly catching up to the amount of Pokemon episodes there are. We're gonna have to start making Doraemon comparisons soon.
