Seems to me this Case of the Mysterious Guest Pass would be preventable if the passes had the guests name on them. Aren't they supposed to be personalized and identifiable?

Again. Depends. Paid attendees usually have their names on it at most cons (mine all did). Sometimes for GoH's, they give x number of unlabeled passes to the guest, for them to pass out as they see fit. Looking at Ty's pass, it doesn't seem to have his name on it.

I don't think cons have yet anticipated that their own GoH's would be the ones doing this fuckery. That might change after this.

Wait, nerd cons don't mail out guest passes beforehand? My ConExpo attendee pass is always mailed out at least a month early. I've had guest pass for a local machinery show through my dealer and that gets mailed to me from the showrunners aswell.

those Nerd cons are pretty badly run and there is not much money behind it.

I've only ever gone to one con that mailed badges ahead of time and they only started doing it last year (Anime Expo.) All the other ones you have to show ID to pick up, ESPECIALLY guest badges. I asked a buddy to pick up mine and they wouldn't let him do it, I had to physically be there with my ID.

I doubt any of the dropouts had a guest pass. They wouldn't be able to pick it up if they got cancelled. The possibilities are
A. Some pro-kickvic VA that's still there like Sabat and Schemmel passed one one. Lowest possibility.
B. Some thirsty dweeb that has never known the touch of a woman got suckered into giving her one.
