The possibility of Sony turning around and suing them is just amazing, just imagine all the misinformed idiots who have been saying "BuT MuH InTERnaL InVeStIgaTion" once the they realize the ones who did the investigation are going after Monica no Vic.

Or the other set of idiots talking about how Vic has no chance because Funimation has more money than him and so there is no way he can win, only for all that money and lawyer power to be turned against then.

He was fired, though. He had an active contract to work on Morose Mononokean which he got replaced in. I doubt Funimation had him record the rest of the show.

Still, when you're looking at it legally was never actually employed by Funi, only contracted. So while he can sue for breach he couldn't sue for say, wrongful termination.

Variety posted an article about the lawsuit written by Liz Lanier. According to her Twitter she's a freelance games journo (no, really).

Vic Mignogna, known for voicing Broly in the “Dragon Ball” series of games, films, and tv shows, filed a lawsuit claiming defamation and other charges against Funimation and other voice actors on Thursday, according to public court documents.

Fellow Funimation voice actors Monica Rial and Jamie Marchi, along with Rial’s fiance Ronald Toye, are also named in the suit. Mignogna’s suit stated that he is suing for interference in other work contracts and that the charges made against him accusing him of sexual harassment are false, and affected his career due to not only Funimation’s decision to no longer work with him, but conventions also canceled his appearances. Mignogna and his lawyer, Ty Beard of Beard Harris Bullock Hughes, are seeking “monetary relief over $1,000,000.00” in addition to other relief to which Mignogna “may be justly or equitably entitled.”

In January, accusations of sexual harassment and homophobia surfaced against Mignogna. Funimation ended its relationship with the voice actor a month later. A popular anime convention attendee, he was accused of sexual harassment by fans, in the form of hugging and kissing without consent. Some of the con attendees who said this happened were underage, and allegations go back as far as 2008. Some voice actors have also spoken out against Mignogna publicly. Marchi detailed her own encounter with Mignogna, and Rial stated that she was also sexually harassed by Mignogna.

Twitter posts by Rial, Marchi, and Toye may now be used as evidence for the lawsuit, with the lawsuit saying that the exposure the actors and Toye (noted as a “either a Funimation agent or employee” in the court documents) provided to accusations against Mignogna via tweeting and retweeting caused the matter to “go viral.” “One or more” of the defendants then “actively” defamed Mignogna to conventions, according to the court document.

Mignogna, perhaps best known for voicing Ed in “Fullmetal Alchemist,” developed a large fan following as a result of his voice work in numerous anime shows, films, and video games. He denied the allegations on his Twitter in a statement in January, calling the accusations “heartbreaking.”

“I would also like to sincerely apologize to anyone who ever felt my interaction with them (a hug or a kiss on the cheek or forehead) was crossing a line,” he wrote. “Never in a million years would it be my intent to make anyone feel uncomfortable.”

Funimation did not respond to Variety’s request for comment. The official court document for Victor Mignogna v Funimation is available below.

It should be noted I archived this article about an hour ago while still at work. http://archive.li/7yyw3

Got home and they had finally started adding "citations" and twitter quotes to the article. Just look at the differences in just an hour. http://archive.li/bZs5n

Not sure what good they will do since one of the hyperlinks for example is to ANN.
Amazed at how neutral they were. Then again id expect Variety to be at least somewhat more intelligent than the brainlets at Funimation

Seems rather odd we keep banging on about Sony, as this is mostly thanks to Rial doing it to try and distract people. A lot of Sony of America is run like a lot of these companies or even like Disney, they buy them to hive off the profits and generally do very very little to their central management structure and most of the time their employees.

It's very, very similar to modern Disney, where if anyone from the central owning company has to turn up because of your fuck up? Because you can't keep a straight house or be trusted to? You've fucked up badly and they're already keeping half an eye on you.

Sony had to send their own HR people in because they couldn't Trust Funimation to do a legally right job. The firing of Vic by Funimation LLC is what should be focused on here. Rial throwing Sony's name into the mix is only going to get them involved in so far as to hand every last person involved a pink slip before suing them for the money they'll help lose them.

It's already obvious, to even the shitty and useless Sony of America, that even if they settle something in some way, like they did the Vic situation previously the people in Funimation are going to fuck it up again completely.

Why? Because Sony came in, sorted the situation out to their own satisfaction and Funimation employees and the VA's set an entire tanker of kerosene on fire.

Except personal/community healing doesn't involve destroying someone's livelihood and attempting to murder someone by having them commit suicide due to the severe emotional trauma you inflict on them. At least not in reality. I forget a lot of times that these speds live in their own little lala wonderland where their truth is the absolute truth.

Edit: I just have to say that personal/community healing bit really irks the fuck outta me. As an actual victim of sexual assault, I had to do a lot of personal healing on my own to get over what happened and even then I still have nightmares about it sometimes. What I don't do though is go on twitter to make my pain publicly known for all to see because frankly it's no one's fucking business unless I want it to be someone's business and I don't weaponize my trauma to attack innocent people or even go after my rapist. I don't go after his livelihood, I don't try to turn the world against him because all I care about is getting better and being HAPPY. Seeing all this exceptional shit unfold with all of these wannabe whamans pretending to be victims just...fuck man. Pisses me the fuck off.

Being professional and defending your career and reputation = being a manchild.

Sure. How do those clowns even know how to breathe?

Also the "sueing" for memes/tweets excuse. How often did they try to destroy careers/lives over frog memes? And they still don't get it, what those tweets constitute in legal terms. Any normal functioning human being recognizes you don't make such claims without consequences.

Oh you know, just more people choosing to ignore all of the evidence presented to their faces. As proper retards do.
Didn't even get past the first sentence before I knew it wasn't worth reading since apparently, retards don't know how to acknowledge when they've been PROVEN WRONG.

What the fuck even is this "the community is healing" talking point even mean?
Do they think we are on the first stage of grief and only denying it because we are "healing" from the grief of Vic being a predator and we will soon accept it and move on?
I've even seen Monica go "I know the community is hurting, but soon the healing process will start"
It honestly sounds like they are holding out hope that we will all eventually lay down and accept it

I sure don't buy all of those allegation, but damn man, vic act like a manchild.

This person registered in March 2015. Let's assume they registered straight at 1st of March. That's 1510 days.
They made 28,935 posts.
This person that posted at some random fucking forum over nineteen times a day, every day, or way more but rarer, has the sheer balls to call, using legit 12-year-old on Xbox Live level grammar, a man who's fighting to revive his career and reputation a manchild for not laying down and dying.

Matthew 7:3. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"

Pretty much. Funny coming from the side that likes to screech about gaslighting....

No one really knows. One member of the herd starts wandering towards the river, the gorge, or a tire hung on a fence post for some indiscernible reason and the rest of the cattle mindlessly follow along because they too lack critical thought.

It's another focus grouped buzzword/phrase that was handed to them from above. ALL their talking points come from the Feminist/radical leftist groups. Just keep following that thread back up the ladder and you'll see where it originates. Turn on MSNBC/CNN and keep a running count of the people/groups/leaders you see saying the very same words and phrases.

It's not like SJWs are smart enough to think them up on their own.

Sounds kinda cult-like to me.

"Oh, once the healing process starts, we'll finally be able to purge the heathens--er, I mean move on!"
