Arin Hanson / Egoraptor / Grump - "Hey I'm Grump!" of Game Grumps fame, hypocritical SJW doxer, shat himself recording a let's play

Sidenote: this stream also contains Allie talking about how she shits for ~11 minutes after a fan asked what toilet paper they use. No real jokes or anything, just: if you ever wanted to know about Allie's anus and rectum producing fecal matter and how exactly they all wipe their asses, there you go.
yes, id like a refund on this information please. i never asked for it, it just kind of showed up

Today on "Game Grumps have no fucking clue as to how to gauge audience retention":

Dislikes and Likes mean absolutely nothing and only views count towards the likability of a series, because...people keep watching them?

That reasoning goes right out the window when you consider they've dropped games that had twice as many (if not more) views to them than, say, any of the recent SA2 eps they've uploaded recently.

Why can't they just admit they stick with the games they personally find amusing; because the numbers don't match the claims they play games based on fan interest.

Now that's some quality content, right there! /sacrasm

Because, again, they don't pick out games to play on the show anymore; the interns do.

Sounds like how I imagine Metzen worked before finally quitting Blizzard. He paid his dues already; kick open the door, slam legs down on his desk, wait for interns wet behind the ears to shake their limbs off from nerves as they represent something for him to do with zero effort.

I can really imagine Arin just walking into that shit booth and expecting it all to start automatically.

Is this a recent change? I always thought they at least picked the games, maybe with the exception recent releases. Good god how lazy are they that they can't spare 30 seconds to pick a fucking game?
My guess is because the Grumps don't know what's hip with the youngins.

Though - judging by the game choices of recent times - the youngins are just as clueless.

I marvel at some of the exceptionalism these guys exhibit. Playing videogames is not hard, scheduling to play videogames is not hard. How the fuck can you screw up something so easy.
By hiring incompetent friends, that's how.

...This is the same team which had one of their friends get cucked by birds.

One is a smoothbrain that barely scraped through high school, the other is a neo hippie burnout that mentally checked out years ago and they are both insulated by people that think that playing video games while doing a funny voice is peak comedy. It's honestly a miracle that they haven't imploded on themsleves yet.

The core of the issue is that they are completely out of touch with their audience. The main fanbase are creepily obsessed with Dan and Arin and will eat up anything they put out or sell, but they are also extremely hostile to any and all criticism from other fans and frighten off any newcomers to the fanbase. This creates a problem as they can no longer determine what works and what doesn't as the portion of the audience that would give genuine criticism has been practically exiled from the main audience. So for past couple of years or so they have been throwing shit at the wall in hopes that something sticks and pulls them out of their stagnation. The funny thing is, they created this situation themselves. Back in the earlier days of GG, they used to have a rapport with their audience. They used to visit the subreddit often to get feedback or to keep the audience updated on what was going on. But once they started getting into hot water with their audience, they ran away and the impression the delusional fans got was 'THE MEANIES HAVE SCARED MY INTERNET BOYFRIENDS AWAY, THEY ARE THE PROBLEM' And from that moment onwards, The GG subreddit changed from a place of discussion, to an echo chamber hugbox where the Grumps can do no wrong.

I for one would like to think that Game Grumps wouldn't have turned into this hollow, soulless, out of touch machine that just superficially resembles what it once was had Jon stayed. He probably would not have allowed the show to become what it is now, he would have kept contact with both positive and negative fan feedback, not just the dick suckers, and most importantly he would have stopped Arin's head from going so far up his own ass. Arin obviously just surrounds himself with sycophants who can never muster up to give him criticism of any kind (not that he would listen anyway, because he's a thin-skinned prima donna), while Dan is just a spineless yes man instead of a co-host of equal standing, and Jon was definitely not these things. There's a reason why everyone considers his episodes to be the golden era of Grumps.

i dont think so. im 100% positive that once the "jontron said a racist thing with destiny" would have had arin chimp out and disolve the show to distance himself as much as possibly from the racist comments

Well let's pretend that the Destiny debate never happened and Jon stayed, what would've happened then?

What about Arin's 'N word outburst after having dropped off a black acquaintance of his - which (I think) happened during the early Grumps era and long before the Destiny thing?

It would've still ended the same way. Everyone likes to say that Jon/Arin was this perfect era and, in fairness: a lot of it was really good! A lot of Jon/Arin's chemistry still holds up to this day, in fact. They practically set a benchmark for more freeform LPs without even realizing it, partly because they tried their best to avoid LPers and trendchasers at the time and were literally just two dudes on a couch fucking around.

But by Sonic '06, and without having the bias of growing up and watching that era, to me it started becoming clear that their relationship was waning a bit. They were more frequently talking replacements, they started taking sponsorships, there was a heavier push towards merchandising and brand recognition, and were originally going to branch out with Steam Train becoming its own side channel rather than a side show. Though, granted, they hid it super well and transitioned into it fairly naturally.

...Well, until Jon left and then...y'know.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Edginess notwithstanding.
