Dame Jacqueline Wilson has said the thought of children receiving gender reassignment treatment makes her “very, very worried”.
The 73-year-old author has written some of the most-loved children’s books of all time, but in a new interview with The Daily Telegraph, she confessed that creating a transgender character is not high on her agenda and revealed would only do so “if there was a really strong reason”.

“I wouldn’t want people to think I’d jumped on the bandwagon just because it’s current and in the news,” Wilson said.


The Girls in Love author went on to say that undergoing gender reassignment surgery is “nothing to be taken lightly”.

“Some people, right from the time that they are toddlers, are aware that something is wrong and they wish that they could be the other sex,” she said.

“But I’m also aware that some children feel strongly for a while and then they change their minds. I think it’s a decision that has to be left a while until you are utterly mature and utterly certain you know all the actual consequences.”

Wilson added that her concerns also stem from the fact that “we don’t know” the long-term effects of taking “drugs, hormones or whatever” as part of gender reassignment treatment.

“And the whole idea of having major surgery ... if you’re a young child it’s not a question of just having bits of you lopped off,” she added. “It’s really serious, difficult surgery which can have pretty devastating consequences, I would imagine.”
Wilson’s comments come days after a young adult novel about a transgender teenager by John Boyne was been criticised as “transphobic” by online activists.
The Irish author deleted his Twitter account as a result of the comments he received, many of which focused on the fact that he himself is not transgender, which prompted people to say “this isn’t his story to write”.

Jacqueline Wilson is pretty based. Even though her books are meant for kids the characters in them deal with pretty grown-up subject matter and it means that some of her books still hold up pretty well when I re-read them as an adult (especially the historical ones set in Victorian times). She generally seems like the type not to beat around the bush and to tell it like it is, so this doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I really should read her autobiography sometime.

Inb4 she gets "cancelled" and Twitter turns on her, RIP.

To be fair, Jackie is pretty good at understanding young people's feelings. I never knew how old she was when I read her books, only when I was in highschool did I know. I always thought she was a particularly smart teenager.
I trust her more than any troon.
Also Tracy Beaker was an absolute banger show shut your mouf.

Even worse, now a bunch of them have replaced "Assigned Male/Female At Birth" (AMAB/AFAB) with CAMAB/CAFAB.

The "C" stands for "Coercively."

I think that weak men with great privilege have found a backdoor out of the responsibilities attached to their pre-existing identity and are doing so in great numbers.
Because they are so privileged and live in their tech bubble, they control the narrative enough to frame their abdication of reality as stunning and brave.

Tweet 1: My third child officially has a new name (no gendered pronouns). The picture is of a birth certificate, altered with the child's new name.
Tweet 2: My Family: Four Children. Three of them are cis (at least to my current knowledge), one is nonbinary. Why do I never have to explain why three of my children are cis?

On the birth certificate, the sex marker is labeled as diverse. So the mother had her child's legal sex changed to intersex (literally "diverse" gender), even though the kid clearly isn't. I didn't realize you could do this in Germany - but attention-seeking mothers are everywhere.
