A few weeks ago, it was announced that two more live-action Rurouni Kenshin movies were being made. In late 2017, the author of the manga, Nobuhiro Watsuki, was arrested for possession of child pornography.

“We’d be kind of remiss to say, you know, in the news article maybe it wasn’t the appropriate place to say it, but unfortunately, the manga artist, Watsuki, he had a bit of a run in with, unfortunately, some underage children images and uh, had been arrested and they let him go because apparently, at some point in the past it was, at one point legal to have those images and then it wasn’t, in recent years, and he still had them so, um..."
--Yeah, so that’s not cool. We’re not down with that stuff.
"That’s not cool. This is a moment where you have to decide whether or not you’re cool with separating the art from the artist. That having been said... that Jinchu arc is very good. Uh, it is incredibly good and when I reviewed the series as a whole, I remember I was doing the prep for it and I was reading through all the manga. I was trying to read through it really really fast and then I got the Jinchu arc and I got to the very last image of it and I just wept. I can’t believe how good this is."
--Which a lot of fans did because it’s the ending you wanted to have for Kenshin.
