DarksydePhil / TheyCallMeDSP / Phil Burnell - General Discussion

After a few weeks of trying to appear like a regular in DSP's chat, all I gotta say is... it's definitely a no-fun allowed zone.

KingofGahlfHD is arguably the worst mod I've ever seen in any kind of community.

First off, the guy just spams DSP memes all day long. Pretty much all he says. That or bitching about "lawlis" or furries. Second, he obviously watches detractor videos as he made a comment last night about hearing kekon scream which is a sound that's often used on Tevin's streams.

He's constantly deleting messages from people just because he can and Phil doesn't give a fuck. It's basically a virtual Twitch Concentration Camp experience.

How are you supposed to build a long-term, sustainable, and positive community when your mods are total shitheads?

PS - Kozatof/ Koz/ koz/ kozatof keywords are now bannable in chat since there seems to be a running meme of trying to get KingKozatof mod.
Ofcourse the mods watch detractor video, it was noted like 1000+ pages back that dsp asked for mods to see if any funny business was said to which he would ALWAYS drop hints about knowing about and would reference vids in an off hand way, so his mods most likely still do it for him but its no secret that a lot of mods participate in detractor videos, the biggest being BSV, BrightSideViking who is/was an active member here if you didnt know about the history of one of dsps biggest ass cleaners, he pozloaded my negholep and twitch banned him, phil then dissowned him and BSV got pissy and gave a dump of gossip here on the inner workings of the mod chat etc, watching vids and reporting back to dsp was one of the things.

Either way I think this one-time windfall for Phill is going to turn into a long term problem for him. Think about it, he used to have two months worth of buffer. Is it a slow month? No problem, just turn the begging up to 11 and make up for whatever shortfall he's expecting on month -1 with extreme begging in month 0.

Now that buffer is gone. Whatever his sub/cheer results are for each month will hit him almost immediately. Now to be fair the man puts a strong emphasis on tips but I expect his greying and hair-loss to accelerate noticeably going forward.

I'd like it a lot if he blew what nest egg he had between kicking the can of his tax woes down the road another three-to-six months and marrying a solid four-out-of-ten homewrecking weirdo.

I'm confused @Haunter didnt you say he just got a huge $7k payment from twitch like 2 weeks ago due to them changing the payout schedule and him basically getting 2 months of twitch money all at once?

If so, that is insane and this is just outright lying, not even a snippet of truth. Unless he spent that $7k on paying down credit cards or something and forgot that his next twitch payment would be a lot less than he usually gets?
Don't forget that:
  • he pays around $3000 on mortgages every single month
  • he has multiple debts/loans, both short-term and long-tem
  • he didn't stream for an entire week, which in DSP's case is a substantial amount of money not received
  • he had a relatively bad month following the CT trip, financially speaking (subs are down, tips were down, Patreon is on a steady decline)
  • the monthly views for his YT channel are at 847.6K (per April 1st), which is literally the lowest they have ever been, and half of the views comparted to the same date last year (1.59M) [https://socialblade.com/youtube/user/dspgaming/monthly]
  • he is terrible with money in general
But his return to hardcore begging was all expected and predicted by multiple people, including myself:

Yeah, I was thinking something similar; even though he mentioned multiple times during the past week things were "slow" and "low", he doesn't seem that bothered by it. Maybe he's holding back the extreme begging for now because right after coming back from CT he specifically mentioned that he won't be talking about money anymore like he did during the past year.

My theory is that he's okay for now because of the "buffer" he received due to Twitch now paying out every 15 days instead of 45 days. So he basically got a month's extra pay compared to what he would've received if payout had still been every 45 days.
This will obviously be a one-time and short-term thing, so I expect him to ramp up the money talk within a couple of weeks IF things stay slow 'n low.

Not to blow my own horn, because predicting he'll be begging again in the near future isn't exactly a risky thing to do. Just want to point out that it's highly likely he's in structural financial trouble, rather than him stashing tons of cash and/or living large in secret. If I had to chose between those two options, I'd go for the first one.

TL;DR DSP is shit with money (and a weird man).

Phil is going to default on his condo, the bank will sue him and get a judgement, but Phil is going to have his money deposited into an account under his wife’s name, so the bank will not be able to garnish his wages. It’s a pretty common thing.
I'm sure CT has a reasonably robust clawback provision.
you can't even look at the images because guests can't view them and Papa is the only member.
And registration is disabled.

Sick Systems - How to Keep Someone With You Forever

Keep the crises rolling. Incompetence is a great way to do this: If the office system routinely works badly or the controlling partner routinely makes major mistakes, you're guaranteed ongoing crises. Poor money management works well, too. So does being in an industry where the clients are guaranteed to be volatile and flaky, or preferring friends who are themselves in perpetual crisis. You can also institutionalize regular crises: Workers in the Sea Org, the elite wing of Scientology, must exceed the previous week's production every single week or face serious penalties. Because this is impossible, it guarantees regular crises as the deadline approaches.

Regular crises perform two functions: They keep people too busy to think, and they provide intermittent reinforcement. After all, sometimes you win—and when you've mostly lost, a taste of success is addictive.

But why wouldn't people eventually realize that the crises are a permanent state of affairs? Because you've explained them away with an explanation that gives them hope.

TL;DR - There will never not be a new crisis in DSP's life.

I haven't followed DSP or lurked KF in quite awhile so I'm very out of the loop but I recently saw a clip from Twitch streamer Reckful who leaked the payouts from Twitch's Bounty Program. It's pretty ridiculous.

Is this a program DSP takes part in? When I used to follow his shenanigans more I always suspected his claims of being broke to be just a smokescreen in order to get more donations and sustain his unsustainable quality of life. If he's taking part in this bounty program, I think its safe to say there's no money issues in the Burnell household.

He got blacklisted from that program ages ago, and has never failed to bitch about it/blame detractors on stream when given the chance.

Eight thousand dollars to stream LoL for an hour, what the fuck. How on Earth is that sustainable?

Please God tell me this is fake.

I asked Papa why he bothers with guides since DSP doesn't read them, and he said he intends them to be used by others as well.
What he doesn't realize is that nobody is interested in new guides for a game that old, and if they were, they wouldn't go to his. They'd go to someone famous in the community.

He's completely delusional.
You didn't happen to follow up with a question why people should read his guides over the better written, presented and researched guides?

I believe the clip. Reckful has been on Twitch forever and is kind of above the law there, and is also fucking loaded so he doesn't care much for leaking shit (he's also a legitimate crazy person but that's besides the point). Despite how long he's been on Twitch, he's far from a sellout. He'd have no reason to fake something like that. Twitch is insanely lucrative.

Decades of dealing with Chris tells us the guy probably can't concieve that any other guide could beat his, by solipsistic virtue of it being written by him.

Its when Dunning-Kreuger meets legit autism.

Phil wouldn't get 8k from his 500 viewers.

The bounties are view based. It would take a much, much larger streamer than Phil to recieve that kinda payout.

Someone like [insert your preferred streamer who puts any game in the top 10 viewed on their own] can command that kind of cash, not "not even top ten in the game he's playing" Phil.

Holy what the shit. I think it's time to become a shtreemer, too.

One can only imagine the level of bitterness from DSP if/when he sees those kinds of payouts (assuming they're real). And, if those ARE real, I imagine he'll bitch about it on shtreem and call out all of the "muppets" for being sellouts, and then turn around and bitch that the detractors got him blacklisted from the program so he can't make that kind of money. He would sell his horse to watch that Street Fighter League thing for 30 minutes. :stress:

4th Most Watched Washington Streamer for MK11, d00d!

Opening up Twitch, going to LoL, and assuming Phil has his average (570 some) viewers.

He would be placed 22nd in the middle of a work day when competition is lowest.

If Twitch prioritizes sponsored streamers he'd be around 26.

For MK11 he would be 4th though, funnily enough (19th most played game on twitch).

Looking at a smattering of competition in his market size, he's behind multiple Runescape and Slot streamers, along with s few different niche game streams like Rise of Industry and Imperator.

I'm not too familiar with LoL but is there a high trolling possibility from other players?
