Base Question: Is this as much of a colossally bad idea as it sounds to a layman?

No, the layman's right. This is a horrible idea. Chibi's peanut gallery is larger than his actual fan base. He's already cemented him self as both a laughingstock and a cheater inside and outside of the speed running community. Even if he rebrands, the internet never forgets. He'll be like DSP, but even more irrelevant.

In order to make a living off of twitch you would need over 300 subs to just scrape by at poverty level. To get those 300 subs, you would need exponentially more regular viewers, because not every viewer is going to pay $5 to subscribe. In short, it's a pipedream that infects many people's minds and prevents them from getting a real job.

What kind of serious asshole quits his day job in the middle of an eviction, to pursue Twitch streaming? Please, someone, tell me Chibi's been hacked and he really isn't pursuing this new rock-bottom scheme...

Ehm, the one, who thought that he would be able to get some pussy on GDC and tweeted about it for everyone to see?

Did he even disclose what exactly he's applying for? If it's as a frier/servant at like Subway's or McDonalds, he'll be shot down by proxy of that unkempt-looking hobo beard and 'stache, would be my bet.

I'm guessing that's the mall foodcourt so I'd probably guess Gamestop if anything,
they have no standards for their staff's appearance, at least judging by the ones near me.

This time I'm unironically having trouble following it. He quit his day job at an electronics store and is now aggressively hiring freelancers to re-brand so he may stream full-time? I don't know much about Twitch, so I'm legitimately trying to parse this together. Don't you need a huge base and/or sustaining sponsorship deals?

Oh it's definitely a bad idea.

I'm confused at his transition from looking for a job to deciding to quit his job and become a full time streamer; like where's the cohesion?

But then I remember this is Chibi and there is no cohesion or rational thought. It's just a series of actions made at the drop of a hat.

Doing Twitch hoping to make it big while holding down a real job in the meantime is the smart way of going about doing things. Chibi here isn't all that smart, but he does have a support system in his family in place so he can fuck off to Twitch without actual repercussions aside from maybe his mom reprimanding him every so often. It's a bad idea, sure, not so much in the short term because he can leech from his family, but more so in the long term if it doesn't pan out because he'd have a glaring hole in his resume, with only a failed streaming career to show for it.

To be fair, a number of people see the top earners on Twitch and suddenly they want in on the action, too. Play games, make money, it's an easy sell for people who don't think too far ahead in the future. With brands putting streamers on commercials now (I've seen a HyperX commercial running during the NBA playoffs with streamers and NBA players in it), they're even more visible to many. Think of the YouTube rush some years back, it's a similar thing to the Twitch rush of today.

Chibi isn't the only one who went full-time streamer even without making sure he/she has a solid subscriber base to build off on. He won't be the last.

I don't know... His mom refused to take him with her after his stepfather filed for divorce and they lost the house. Besides her blaming him for destroying her life, I'm not sure if she even has the resources to support him at this point-- let alone herself.

Done.

What's the most intriguing and lolcow-worthy about this new chapter isn't that he's already pissed off his roommates, Halqery and Cinder, and lost his job-- he does that all the time. It's actually that he'd publicly entertain the notion of fucking over the couple who took him in when his mom lost the house. I'd wager that they gave him the new deadline when he giddily announced that he'd be unemployed for the foreseeable future.

I could not agree more with the following...

Hey, he's making infrequent commentary videos with him doing the DeFranco frown in the thumbnail, he's going to be a millionaire and they just don't recognise it yet.

He’s uploading another video about the Jared situation,.whatever gets those views, right?
But wait, wasn't Chibi accused of sending dick pics to a minor?

Groundbreaking eyebrow-splitting technology. Though, it didn't know what to do with the neckbeard.

On an one-note, I wonder if Halqery and Cinder know their third wheel is publicly entertaining the notion of sabotaging their living situation with their landlord. I guess the benefit of dealing with Chibi is that whenever his brain has activity, he announces it via Twitter.
