From my side of the yard most of the salt comes from fangirlsupset at Nat dying ("they fridged her!" smh that word has lost all meaning) and Loki not coming back and redeeming himself.
Someone needs to take that term away from the fandom. They also used it for Allura, when her fate was 100% the opposite: she was fully fleshed out, had been shown to be the self-sacrificial type several times in the past, deliberately chose to ascend to a higher plane of existence to mend the realities, and while her boyfriend cried he didn't go on a rampage but instead chose a peaceful life with his family-aka the thing he missed most while in space.
It aint fridging if the lady willingly sacrifices herself.
And lol, did people really think Loki was gonna redeem himself? I know the character is meant to be sympathetic in the movies but he was also a villain, iirc, so...yeah.
