Well he was clearly manic last night from what I heard. Maybe DSP has a mild bipolar disorder?

Edit: DSP just took a 14 minute bathroom break.

Also, DSP refused to play Minecraft last night because it wasn't chill enough. He's done jack shit tonight.
Maybe he was extra hungover today, because last night he was going the fuck off about Tevin and acting like a clown having a manic episode. He could've been drunk, or maybe he was still riding high about how VIRAL his tweets went.

Is there any actual conclusive reasoning for why Phil didn't keep up with his Youtube channels? DSPGaming probably makes up half of his income, KOGaming actually had decent potential to be a money maker and show people a "different side" of Phil, and people eat up vlogs more than ever. If Phil actually properly titled his videos and invested maybe 30-60 mins a day to working on Youtube he could make even more money.
His reason to stop Kogaming was the amount of time he put in editing wasn't worth the "few hundred" dollars the video would make. Now why he didn't start Kogaming back up after those few days Dspgaming disappeared the only reason I can give is stunning short sighted stupidity.

Wuh? Wasn't it only fan made videos on KOGaming that he curated?

Nope. Phil did some actual edited content. It was still crap, but there was at least some effort made. The fan-made videos were his (poor) attempt to cash in on TIHYDP-style videos. Except that the fan ones had to be prescreened by him, so the only ones posted just showed dumb shit and weren't remotely entertaining. As I recall, there was one in particular that was just all his deaths from a particular game (one of the Dark Souls, maybe?) set to some other game's music.

Wait so did dsp not hit that sub goal?

Surprisingly enough, not yet. He was 2 away during the 5/13 night stream, but despite his outright begging, the sub count never hit 500. It's currently at 482, with 35 subs gifted this month. I still fully expect him to get it, but it'll take a decent number of gifted subs.

The tail end of it was. He made a few edited videos including the classic Overwatch tips and tricks video where he didnt know how to play the game. It soon wasn't worth his time to make edited videos, so he asked his fans to make videos so he could put them up and monitized them.

I think maybe naming the fan videos KOCC videos didn't help. Especially since Phil was known for whacking it. "What are you going to do after school today, friend? I'm going to go home and see if there are any new DSP KOCC videos to watch"

I forgot about him trying to capitalize on TIHYDP. Years after he should have in classic Phil fashion. People were so mad about that. I'll give him credit though. He tried to keep Kogaming alive after being too lazy to do reviews. Unlike now where it's like it doesn't exist until he really needs it. Even if he just used it as a mirror channel for now get a consistent flow of videos to keep that channel relevant.

KOGaming was a real trip. You got his self edited highlights series that lasted 3 episodes before being canceled for low views.

All of his goty crap that wildly underperformed.

44 Hateful Truth Rebooted reviews that, uh, wildly underperformed.

The vlogs when DSPGaming was dying.

And the holy grail. The video that led to the staycation that had him flush for a few weeks but permanently destroyed his income.

He never even made a playlist for the submitted TIHYDPs because he never cared.

He got 35 or so individual (non-bulk) subs on April 14th, so those will potentially be going away in the next couple of days too. If a whale wants to make it happen they need to put up or shut up.

pretty sure phil was buzz/drunk on stream, regardless hes been an alcoholic for probably 15 years. combined with his lifestyle it can't be long before he's in the hospital for "working too hard".

So how long till the high blood pressure dialysis pity stream

I don't know much about forums or kiwi farms, but I somehow unfortunately recently discovered DSP, which somehow led me here.

regarding the question:
What is the "behind the scenes" money stress?

Around a month ago when I discovered DSP, he was doing his urgent beg-a-thon before the wedding. You might recall he had a folder which he pointed to ostensibly from his tax guy, as if there were important information in it which backed up his urgent begging.

I'm a lawyer. I'm still new to twitch, but what I saw appalled me. I made a complaint to twitch, outlining what typically constitutes fraud in most markets/jurisdictions. It's typically '"obtain financial benefit by deception".

If I were advising DSP or twitch, I would tell them that while it's perfectly legal to say you're worried about money, or there is stuff "behind the scenes", when DSP gets specific as he did with that beg-a-thon, and makes it sound like there's an imminent threat to him losing his house if viewers dont give money right away, and goes into the detail like using props, pointing to folders saying there's proof in the folder from his tax guy of his situation, then using that detail to get money when you're not really about to lose your house risk crossing the line to obtaining financial benefit by deception, i.e. fraud. A court could be convinced of it anyway. Either way it's foolish - he's creating more risks for himself than the money probably justifies, and I would advise DSP to be more careful with what he says in order to induce people to subscribe or tip him.

anyway i wrote this to twitch in the complaint, and went into a bit more detail about it and referred to the relevant parts of its terms of service. not long after the begging changed to "stuff behind the scenes/money really helps a lot" - which is legal, or at least not likely to be considered deception. I don't know if my complaint had anything to do with it, or how these things work. Perhaps twitch laid down the law with its TOS, or DSP got his own legal advice, or maybe I'm way off and it's unrelated. It is interesting though and it does explain the change in language.

Also, anyone who feels they've given money to DSP in the context of one of his urgent i'll lose my house beg a thons might have a cause of action against twitch, and a way to get their money back at least in some markets/jurisdictions. It's silly for twitch to accept this kind of exposure, and makes sense for them to pull him into line. I don't know why they do business with him at all.

For some reason I felt the need to share this, particularly since I heard him recently accuse Tevin of criminal behaviour by talking over DSP's streams. I doubt that what Tevin does is a crime.

To be clear - if everything DSP said was true during his beg-a-thons, including that the folder he pointed to was in fact from some tax expert and backed up his claims, then he has nothing to worry about re: fraud and I take it all back and would withdraw my complaint to twitch if I could. I'm working on the suspicion that at least some of what he said was either not true, or exaggerated, mostly because he seems to have form, and no one has this many financial crises before actually losing their house. Creating the crisis (potentially a deception) seems to be part of the DSP business model.
