This is also autism, it is becoming increasingly apparent Heidi lied by omission about quite a few rather important things. If she claims she is being upfront, she absolutely should not have framed it as cheating since they both had a side piece. She should have said they were trying polyamory and Jared broke her trust quite a bit. Okay so, on the subject of whether or not open/poly relationships are a good idea or work, here's my nuanced take:

They only work in 2 scenarios,

1. It's not that serious of a relationship

2. You're both experienced sluts/degenerates/sexually liberated/free love/sex positive/whatever

In the case of #1, it's not super hard to have a casual girlfriend that you hang out with a few times a week and do the ocassional threesome with then you have your sides and she has hers and it's whatever. In a way girlfriend is just a title and she's technically just the girl you bang/hang out with the most. This is the best kind of relationship in general whether you're exclusive or not, because it's all Hakuna Matata no drama, heartbreak or financial woes.

In the case of #2, if you're going to be married and have kids or live together or any other sort of super serious commitment you can't get out of with high levels of emotions and feelings and investments (this is all lame gay shit I don't recommend btw), then the only way this would work is if you're not two boring suburban losers but rather two rockstars or sex workers or some other sort of individual used to a crazy abnormal lifestyle who isn't prone to jealousy and such. There are porn stars whose husbands hold the camera while they fuck a million other guys.

Where Jared and Heidi went wrong is that they're not degenerate enough basically. If they were much more sexually experienced and perverted things would've played out differently (threesome in ross's bed while he's out for the night). Heidi's level of jealousy screams that she talked the talk without ever being able to walk the walk (or she didn't think Jared could get any pussy but hers)

Edit: also getting into an open/poly relationship with strict rules makes no sense to me. If you can't handle it don't even try it. Or just go full throttle and learn from the black box. I don't get neurotically enforcing crazy strict rules like Heidi did, obviously shits gonna go down in the heat of the moment
