Yeah, they're simplifying them because reasons that include Social Blade making it possible to basically create content out of watching people's sub rise and fall.

It's a business move, to make it easier for them and harder for you to quantify your audience growth at-a-glance.

Like Rekieta said, this only favors the larger YouTube Channels that 100 new subscribers are a drop in the bucket and is a giant middle finger to smaller channels. Way to gatekeep, YouTube.
