Bad science from Carlin. Males have lower life expectancy as a whole because of several factors. Conflict, more likely to die by violence, and increased susceptibility to some (by no means all) diseases. Obviously the relative contribution of those factors varies with time and place. It doesn’t mean women are ‘tougher.’ Women are on the whole physically weaker than men, but they are also smaller and thus more likely to survive periods of low food availability, less likely to be combatants, etc. Nature compensates by making the ratio at birth a bit skewed towards boys and it evens out as you go through life. It’s just incorrect to say men are less tough, it’s a complex and multi factor issue.

Some places do have very skewed demographics- India and China now have a big excess of males due to selective female infanticide. The migration crisis in Europe has led to an increase in young males of certain age groups. Some Arab gulf states have really uneven demographics due to guest workers.

If you google population pyramids you get a good overview - some of the animated ones are really interesting, as are the ones for Europe showing the effects of ww1 and 2.

Eh, I will give Carlin a pass on that one. It is a simple fact he got wrong, but it's easy to get wrong due to women being more numerous than men in the United States and other First World countries due to improved medical care and other factors.

In Third World countries, the male population is higher on average (as @AnOminous said, deaths from childbirth are mostly unheard of in the West, but very common in third-world shitholes) and that's not even getting into China's population being majority male (especially among certain age demographics) due to the disastrous one child policy they had for so long.

It's a very common misconception that the rest of the world is like the First World, and a very easy misconception to make, especially among Americans.

Even a lot of Europeans mistakenly assume that there are more women globally than men, because Europe follows a similar trend in gender demographics for largely the same reasons,

I find it interesting that we talk about how Carlin would have handled SJW culture, but I'm really curious to know how Bill Hicks would react to "Current Year" if he were alive today.

Based on his stand-up material, you'd think he'd either go SJW (he was a lefty who despised corporatism and organized religion) or more likely veer deep into fedora territory (especially given his posthumous popularity in those circles) but I get this feeling he would have nothing but utter contempt for both crowds.

If Bill Hicks were alive today, I have this weird feeling he'd likely be a lot like us Kiwis and openly mock the idiots on both sides.

He went after the proto-SJW Tipper Gore/Joe Lieberman liberals a fair bit (particularly in his very early work) and given his disdain for New Kids On The Block and the entire premise of the Arizona Bay album, he'd have a field day with the SJW hipsters and soy boys if he were here today.

Most of his material went after conservatives (especially the Religious Right) because those were the main moral guardians in his lifetime and were still powerful years after he died.

Bill Hicks died in 1994 when the internet was in its early infancy. If you listen to his material, he's clearly an atheist and left-leaning by the standards of the early 90's, but several interviews and even a few stand-up bits of his (such as the one about Waco) indicate that he wasn't completely euphoric like the SJW's and fedora atheists of today.

Hicks clearly believed in religious freedom and free speech, and was pissed at how the feds behaved at Waco (he was actually living in that part of Texas at the time) and his stand-up pointed out the hypocrisy of the media going after a fringe loony like David Koresh for child abuse (which wasn't even officially confirmed until afterwards) while largely turning a blind eye to widespread abuse committed by mainstream religious figures, saying "Why isn't the FBI sending tanks into Catholic churches then?" which is kind of eerily relevant in the age of #MeToo where innocent men like Vic Mignogna get crucified while actual predators like Asia Argento and Yaniv get a pass because they tow the party line of "acceptable opinions"

TL;DR-If Bill Hicks were alive in 2019, he'd probably be a Kiwi and likely a shitposter to boot

The goal is basically to see if they can royally fuck over anything that uses hashtags constantly like Twitter, Instagram, etc by getting the SJW squad to REEEEEE and declare it a problematic hate symbol like they did with the ok hand sign.

The plan seems to be the complete assraping of the hashtag systems these sites use by forcing them to nuke the symbol from existence once the SJWs really get to screeching about it.
