During World War II the first US Special Operations Forces (from any service) were instituted as the 1st Marine Raider Battalion and 2nd Marine Raider Battalion. Unfortunately the higher ups did not use them as their commanding officers had designed them (as rubber boat landing, operate behind enemy lines, hard motherfuckers). They were eventually re-designated (with the 3rd and 4th Battalions) as a re-constituted 4th Marine Regiment.

In 2014, in a nod to their WWII fore bearers, the Marine Special Operations Regiment operating under MARSOC was re-designated the Marine Raider Regiment. Members of that regiment are called Marine Raiders.

Weren't a lot of Spec Ops built upon what the Finnish learned from WW2? I mean UK/US fucked them over so bad they had to side with the Nazi's but after the war a lot of their fighters came to the US to get our Spec Ops programs up and running, or was that an urban legend I heard about?

Other than military members seconded to the OSS, Wendell Fertig's Philippine guerrillas, the First Special Service Force (combined US and Canadian commandos), the Alamo Scouts, and the aborted Marine Raiders there were not really any Special Forces in WWII. The Green Berets started in 1952 with the 10th Special Forces Group, in 1953 it was split with the 10th being stationed in West Germany and the cadre staying at Fort Bragg. In 1961 that cadre was made the 77th Special Forces Group. The first combat service for Army Special Forces was in the Vietnam Theater.

ETA Larry Thorne who was consecutively a Captain in the Finnish military, Captain in the Waffen SS, and Captain in US Special Forces and died in Vietnam doing what he loved. Killing commies 👍 He was sponsored by some Finn's who were already in the 10th Special Forces Group after immigrating to the US, but most of the commanding officers and idea people for US Special Forces were from prior US service behind the lines in Philippines and Europe.

Well they weren't called special forces back then at most they were called Commando's at best, I mean the British Commando's got Hitler so riled up he put a death sentence on any commando POW. But what I was talking about was later on they looked to probably British/Finnish WW2 Vets to get the US programs up and running.

"I witnessed firsthand what I now believe to be inappropriate when I didn't understand it as a minor."
Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel justified for breaking your contract sweetheart. Unless you didn't have one the first place, in either case don't let the revolving door hit you on the way out.

She paid for a table so she can flog shitty drawings and handmade etsy crap. She's not important enough to have a contract to break. She just isn't paying for that table so somebody else can. FIGHTING THE MAN one refund at a time (minus deposit probably).
