My opinion on this is similar to the diatribe I went on about Hollywood hijacking anime in the Weeb Wars general thread.
Carlos Maza is just being pissy because he doesn't want to lose his place in the ivory tower of Vox because of them losing money.
Web2.0 killed many industries, including journalism as we're seeing now.
This is happening as corporate journalism is in it's death throes and corporations are taking a "If I can't have it..." mentality to this which should keep people from buying Hollywood schlock.
Friendly reminder that Pay-TV still supports Hollywood and you should drop it if you haven't already. Free-to-Air satellite is starting to get populated with free services (as networks like MeTV or Bounce use it to serve feeds to local broadcasters, Luken actually endorses free TVRO satellite surprisingly enough), but there's also broadcast antennas if you want to go that route (the worst thing that can happen there is you live in a market like mine where you're unable to get everything. Markets in my state span 3 counties wide in any radius, but the southern part has more broadcast density).
