The thing I personally worry about the most in regards to this whole situation is that I'm believing Nick and Ty because I like them and they're charming as fuck. I want to be sure I'm supporting this because they're right, not based on them being funny and entertaining to listen to.
I've already posted this sort of thing a couple of times around the Weeb Wars threads, but:
I don't give a shit about anime and knew nothing about the people involved. I, along with I'd say a fair number of posters, heard about there being many accusations against Vic and thought that he must be guilty of at least something, simply because of the amount of people claiming this had been an open secret in the fan community for so long.
And I can tell you, after reading over 3,000 pages of this clusterfuck, that they have
nothing. The initial photos and videos? All debunked. The swatting, some of the accusations, the homophobia claims? All faked. The rest of the accusations? All demonstrably hearsay, projection, and/or vague claims where even asking for a year or specific con gets you ignored, yelled at, and blocked. And the very, very few times there's anything specific? It doesn't match a reasonable person's definition of harassment, like the jellybean story or a consensual kiss.
And that's not even getting into the absolute lack of evidence in the official, legal defence vs. from Vic's side. It's not just about liking the people who Stand With Vic, it's that the accusations against him are
all lies and gossip. There's shitloads of smoke, but not even a spark of flame. Ideologically, I hate Twitter mobs, but I also hate sexual abusers and pedophiles. Numerous people have said, including Rackets, that if it came out that Vic was an abuser, they would no longer support him.
But #kickvic have nothing. They have less than nothing. The only evidence they have has been explicitly shown to be lies. My conscience is absolutely clean in believing Vic, and Rackets, and Ty, because (despite Shane's claims) they haven't lied, they've welcomed questions, and they'll engage in the conversation rather than just demanding you have faith in anonymous weebs, and fujoshis, and VAs who personally profit from Vic's firing.
If you worry you're biased, read what #kickvic has to say. Read PULL, and Shane, and the Super Lawyers. I'm confident that anyone that can think beyond 'WHITE MAN BAD LISTEN AND BELIEVE' will see how empty they are.
