Yes and no. A lot of cases are average people who need legal representation but cant afford it. Usually, when a client is in this circumstance, the court will find you somebody to work with. You'll go through a consultation, and if you have money or a job, they negotiate a deposit or monthly payment plan. If you don't, it's pro bono.

Are these the machines he needs for his self diagnosed sleep-apnea? Their price range on this website is between 249$ and 800$.
So why the fucking hell is he running a GoFundme which has accumulated over 9000 Dollars when you can have such machines for way less than 9000 bucks?
Regarding to this website the average price for CPAP machines in the US ranges from about $500 – $3000, with an estimated average price around $850.
Which would mean he could right now already buy 10 cpap machines given the average price of 850$ of above linked website.

Sorry, but I'm smelling some serious bullshit!

He has a BS from a shit-ranked university and admits that it was a struggle to get even that. At the risk of humble-bragging and powerlevel revealing some more, I have an MS in CS from a top-ten-in-the-world CS university and I wouldn't call myself a "computer scientist."

As far as I can tell he has never done any research or come up with any significant algorithms to push back the frontiers of knowledge in computability, or AI, etc. It looks like at most he did some Web dev. That's the job description of a computer programmer, not of a computer scientist.

Not to mention his patreon that somehow makes $700 a month, funny how they call Nick a grifter. He's probably just looking to prop up his podcast views and patreon a little more, jokes on him because the crowd he's fallen in with are poor and hate giving anyone their money.
