I still love how the uncut raw gameplay is presented like a positive thing.
Not to mention it only links his stream site which is.... uncut.

So I took a quick look at this exceptional individual marc_murphy and I really wonder if it's a charge back waiting to happen.

There is not much more, he doesn't chat too much. Yet he constantly is begging for a gifted sub. I wonder why beg for a sub yet drop this much money?

Doing a little more looking, marc is definitely European and spouts off what is apparently a "catchphrase" from Jason Genova ("it shit it piss"), so is clearly very smart. Found one twitter account with the same name, but it's protected. Person resides in Wales.

Oh...oh God. Please tell me...that's not actual fanart he's now using. Please.

Actually tbh I think 99% of the fanart he ends up throwing up is implicitly (and at times, explicitly) making fun of him.

Sorry if this post is breaking rules, I'm new here.

I have to say, this is all very interesting. I only recently became a regular lurker here, because I was only recently introduced to this shitshow by a friend.

This is basically watching a cult in action. After all the obvious lies, there isn't a single rational person on the planet that wouldn't see this for what it is: a scam built on lies. But they WILLINGLY decide to ignore the truth and convince themselves DSP is honest, and they voluntarily devote themselves to him, believing his word against a pile of actual evidence. I believe they all know deep down Phil is using them, but as I said; this is an actual cult in action. Phil offers them something they need: a submissive position in a "private community". They don't have to think for themselves and they have a place they "belong", as part of a pack that is secluded from "the rest". Outside of that community, they're nobodies. But within that community, if they manage to appease the great leader and get his approval... then they're important.

I believe that is why you have minimum wage workers throwing all their hard-earned cash at him. Part of our culture has a huge problem in my opinion: a lot of people live through the achievements of others. It's like celebrities, but on a much smaller scale here. When there is a financial crisis and Phil miraculously makes it anyway, then THEY achieved that.

"Did you see how Phil was able to continue being a streamer thanks to me throwing half my salary at his fat ass? I mean, any attention he gets from here on out will be thanks to me! I achieved that!"

The perfect example is with all those games being bought for him lately, or the codes being thrown at him. "Did you see him play that Nioh 2 beta?? He got that thanks to me! He got to stream that because of me!". "You enjoyed watching him play A Plague Tale? I recommended and even bought him that game! If I hadn't done all that, you wouldn't have been able to enjoy that!"

As I said, even though they didn't achieve anything, they live through Phil's achievements (yes, I use that word VERY loosely here), because they "helped him". However, this is all just my train of thought about all this. This is why - to me - this is all quite interesting. Mind you: I also believe no one here should try to show Phil's true nature to any of his "followers" (as I have seen a lot of people try on Twitter). No doubt, Phil is a huge piece of shit the likes of which I have rarely seen, but all the evidence of this has been plastered all over the internet. If you ignore all of this, don't have the mental capacity to realize it yourself and still decide to go broke for his sake, you deserve it and I have no sympathy for you whatsoever. I would let things run naturally; they will all keep throwing their money down a bottomless pit, learn a valuable lesson (which might very well come way too late, but better late than never) and Phil will crash and burn when the time comes, and he will crash and burn HARD.

The puerile reason I'm here is that I simply enjoy watching this shitshow. It was either watching actual baboons throw literal shit at eachother on National Geographic or watch... well, retarded baboons throw money at Phil, and believe it or not, the actual baboons look way smarter in the middle of their Civil Dungwar than those idiots look trying to appease mister Uberbabonian Snortmonger. So thanks for the ride boys, I'll be in the backseat for now.

Edit:

I love the fact that some term is automatically replaced by the term "exceptional". It's a nice touch.

Even when Phil gets a new whale, they're less whaley than the previous whale.

The King Whale has steadily declined in ability to prop up Phil's lifestyle.

Its nonsustainable, but its juuuuuuuust sustainable enough he can cry at tax time to squeak by.

Its only going to take one if these exceptional cards of his to tip over for the whole thing to come crashing down.

There's no logic to Phil's paypigs. Many of them barely exist in chat, some don't at all. Why does Rob Warren give 25% of his disability check to Phil? Who knows. All we can do is wait for the Pigroach to finally get what's coming to him.

And the cycle begins anew.

I can't stand Phil's not distorted voice at this point. Its like the audio equivalent of looking at Ted Cruz.
His "laughter" is completely unbearable. The only way to deal with it is to imagine that it's some kind of intentional self-parody, but then the realization sets in that it's not and makes it exponentially less tolerable. (or alternatively it IS intentional self-parody and Phil sinks to another low)

I particularly love what it says in his "about me" banner on twitch:

"I specialize in long-form, uncut gameplay with live commentary"... on TWITCH... as a STREAMER....

First of all, I love how he's trying to somehow sound fancy because he probably once heard of an "M.D. that specializes in neuroscience" or some ACTUAL impressive shit like that.

But secondly, is there ANY STREAMER IN THE HISTORY OF STREAMING that has ever NOT "specialized" in

a) long-form gameplay
b) uncut gameplay
c) with live... comment-BITCH WHAT???!!!! ARE YOU DRUNK????!!!

Yes. Minecraft streamers who spend two hours off camera collecting wood or building a fence. Nobody wants to watch a stream of cutting trees.

Or other streamers who play RNG loot based games and grind off camera to get rare loot. A stream of grinding mobs for hours to get a rare drop would be boring.

Phil's gimmick is he does nothing off camera. It's raw and uncut and you won't miss a moment. Even the boring as dirt moments.

i have decided that if i were to curse phil
it wouldn't be a curse that gets him kicked off of twitch
or makes him lose his house
i want a curse that makes all the media and services he consumes act just like him

every time he lays down to binge some gin, the movie he watches starts with half an hour of shitty remixes

every time he starts a game, it begs for his money for 45 minutes

every time he turns on TV, the characters will snort, and burp, and crush water bottles at the screen every half minute

if he even has one small complaint about a place, he gets kicked out and all the employees T pose and ARF at him

every time he eats out, his waiter or person behind the counter stops everything to talk about how they need the money they really do and please give tips since they get it right away, and phil can't walk away or say no

if he asks questions he gets muted irl and told to shut the fuck up loser

Speaking of which, if anyone that actually watches his streams to provide us those juicy bits (god bless you, kind soul) could answer a question I have, I would be very thankful. It seems to me like streaming "chill games" - as he puts it - is quite a risk for someone like Phil. I mean, he can't carry a conversation, has nothing interesting going on in his life and it seems like he takes no real interest in his followers. Aside of that, his opinions about games appear to be about as consistent as a melted snail floating in jello (it seems to me he forms his opinions on the fly and just blabs whatever comes to mind in that specific instance) and his ability to talk about other general topics seems quite limited. However, that might be due to the way videos are edited. So during those "boring as dirt" moments, aka the moments that are cut from the detractor videos, is it comparable to other mediocre streams? If you would watch those bits without knowing about his shenanigans, would it actually be a decent stream/streamer?

I keep wondering: aside of detractors, financial woes and memes... what do him and his audience have to actually talk about? During those (for a lack of better term) "normal" streaming bits, is there actual interaction?

I don't watch more than a minute or two at a time, but he consistently does 1 of a few things: 1) sits in silence looking at the game and then chat/streamlabs, speaking only to respond to money; 2) gets baited into an extended rant about (insert topic); 3) sees chat talking about literally anything but him and gets pissy, demands that people "interact" with him, and then does absolutely nothing to start a conversation.

The only time he's more lively is when money is chucked at him. Then he's more likely to go full clown-nose and act exactly like Pewdiepie circa 2012-2013, complete with over-the-top reactions and "random" noises.

I never thought my fellow Welshmen could be so dumb as to donate to Dave. Money would be better spent hurding some sheep for a good time if you know what I mean

Someone told him about being able to play at double speed through the whole game so now he's basically speed running it. Honestly from what I've seen this version of Final Fantasy IX is for people who can't be bothered actually playing Final Fantasy IX and don't want the game wasting their precious time. Mind you Chrono Cross had a feature like double time, but it was only unlocked after you beat the game. I just honestly don't understand why you'd want to rush through a JRPG... They're sort of games about relaxing and taking your time.

Oh well, at least it will be easier for The Outsider to edit the footage for a TIHYDP.
I know FF7 and FF9 in their modern re-masters have some ridiculous options. I heard in the 7 one there's a basically press X to win option, you can just basically make yourself super powered to cheese any particular fight, I'd imagine all the comparable remakes have the same options. I guess it's nice if you...just wanted achievements or something?

I just re-played FFIX about a year or two ago. Tapped out when he said he had to grind for a boss. Not sure which boss this would be in story order but you rarely if ever have to grind in the main story of Final Fantasy games, let alone in the first few hours. To be honest he's probably gonna neglect how AP and abilities work vis a vis gear in the game and end up having to grind a ton of AP later on which even with the speedy mode on will be a grind.
