love-shyness is a specific type of a phobia. one can streak in the middle of the street but they can't approach women with romantic/sexual intent, express it or in worst cases even reciprocate

Actually, the high school I went to was a college prep school. To help you wrap your mind around that, I'll spoon-feed you:
See, most people go to public school. These are huge, because they offer a decent education without families having to pay through the nose for them. However, if you come from a wealthy family, you can pay to send your child to a school that offers a much higher level of education for an (admittedly outrageous) price. This helps you get into a good college, because capitalism, fucker. Because few can stomach the cost, the classes are small, since America has serious issues with wealth distribution.
So yeah, I can believe that prep schools probably aren't much of a thing around your neck of the woods.
