To their credit, some of these statements are true. The staff had no idea where things were, although a phone and free wifi fix that. However, this was a much more interesting con than most. Their was a lot more industry knowledge at that one con, than any other con I've been to. The Godzilla guys panel alone was more fun then half the A-list VAs panels I've been to.

That's what I hate about this part of KickVic when it comes to conventions. KickVic isn't just amoral and pragmatic to where they'd sell their siblings and family to sex slaves to save their own skin, but they are also rude and ungrateful bastards to those outside of their little clique. Running a convention isn't all fun and games, and if Shane had any fucking say in this if he wasn't such a dick shriveled soy blooded faggot cuck, that conventions will always have some random ass act of God to potentially ruin things and the crew will always rush to the problem and attend it like the Little Dutch Boy at the leak in the dike for the entire weekend.

It's worse than that. They're completely disconnected from reality, and are trying to chant their own, alternate reality into existence. A reality where Nick isn't respected, isn't tearing their side into pieces. A side where Vic isn't getting support from the fans. A reality where they're all poor widdle victims of the evil nazipedorapist and his legion of alt-right trolls wot hate wammyns and poor stupid minorities. A reality where Shane isn't a barely functional fucking idiot.

A narrative, in other words. They're desperately trying to set up a narrative.

We saw this in GamerGate. It's why whenever you see some hipster cunt with tidybowl dyke hair and a participation trophy degree in Daddy Issues Grievance Studies wants to mention GamerGate, often in an unrelated piece talking about how shitty fandoms are for not having already surrendered to them, they always do so as a Mantra. "GamerGate, the sexist alt-right harassment campaign against women in gaming,..." It's to replace the reality that GamerGate was just a bunch of nerds that told these fuckers no and refused to bend the knee, and they cannot fucking stand that lesser beings such as nerds did so.

What you're seeing here is them trying to get the same thing setup in the Weeb Wars. It's why Penguintruth is constantly spewing his spam. It's why they're starting to organize in discord and call in lolyers to take drive by pot shots.

They're trying to figure out a magic spell that will turn ISWV into a cartoon strawman supervillain they can all pretend to be fighting.

What they don't understand is that in GamerGate, the games journalists literally already had secret mailing lists and slack servers set up to set narratives, to blacklist topics and wrongthinkers, to break NDAs, and to fix review scores. It wasn't as organic as it seemed, and it only became what it became because they had their own network of autistic types -- like the people on Wikipedia who patrolled the site for any off-narrative discussion and purged it with fire. Part of which in the later years was literally being funded by an Obama era "anti-propaganda" (read: Propaganda) bill.

They don't have that here. So you're seeing them flail about and not understanding why it isn't working. This is part of why Nick points out that this is going to be won or lost on social media. Every time someone goes on Twatter and breaks their narrative or corrects them or points out they're posting old discredited bullshit, it shatters the narrative they're trying to create. Hell, these threads do the same thing, to a certain degree.

Marvel gets away with what it does not because Disney is causing it, but rather because Marvel is the mechanism by which Disney cheaply deals with an expensive problem. Ike Perlmutter. The only real purpose of the funny books is to constantly refresh the IP of every character in the library. (Creating new is a happy accident, and less desirable due to new creative contracts. They have to payout more in royalties for more modern characters.) Ike is a toy maker and merchandising guy. He makes Marvel’s money via licenses and merchandising. Marvel Entertainment is a loss leader that doesn’t even count as a rounding error to Disney’s accounting. Marvel isn’t going anywhere because it serves a non obvious purpose to the Mouse.

RoosterTeeth however serves no such purpose to AT&T Time Warner. The new CEO is AT&T’s. A major cost cutter who has little taste for the creative arts and the tomfoolery of the creative types. He doesn’t watch cartoons, certainly not anime stuff. DC Comics already is directly under LA WB’s direct control. Like Marvel they serve a purpose in refreshing DC’s billion dollar merchandising empire. Rooster Teeth has no such function. They are rapidly bleeding upper management, who see the writing on the walls. They have already been rolled into the Warner Media group. Pooled with Cartoon Network and a number of other animation focused sub units. They will be quickly merged and carved down while being enslaved to a hastily cobbled together streaming service. Whatever remains of them will end up in LA, because nobody working for Warner in Texas has any internal political clout or hope of surviving the oncoming corporate game of thrones. As hundreds of WB subunits fight to be the one left standing.

Those people reacting as if being away from your children on Father's Day is blasphemy don't seem to understand Father's Day. It isn't for the kids or the wife, it's for the Father. If what he wants to feel loved and appreciated on his special day is a weekend away to go fishing, or watch Nascar, or hang out in his man cave, or - heaven forfend - be at an anime convention, then that's what his family should give him.
