Disaster 'Erosion in acceptance' of LGBTQ people among young Americans, survey finds - NBC

Young Americans ages 18-34 are increasingly uncomfortable around LGBTQ people in personal situations, like learning a family member, doctor, or child’s teacher is LGBTQ.

In its annual “Accelerating Acceptance” survey, GLAAD found that people ages 18-34 are increasingly uncomfortable in “personal scenarios” with LGBTQ people — like learning that a family member, doctor or child’s teacher is lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.
Nationwide, the support for “equal rights for the LGBT community” remained stable at 80 percent, GLAAD’s survey found. But the biggest drop in support identified by the LGBTQ rights group was among the youngest Americans.
In 2016, 24 percent of respondents age 18-34 said they would feel uncomfortable with a LGBTQ family member; by 2018 that rose to 36 percent — about one in three. A similar rise was measured among the youngest group of respondents who say they would feel uncomfortable to learn their child was receiving an LGBTQ history lesson at school, from 27 percent to 39 percent.
"With the knowledge that erosion in acceptance was primarily happening among younger males, GLAAD launched a program dedicated to working with the video game industry on LGBTQ inclusion, to bring LGBTQ characters and stories to a world where male audiences were consuming content," said Sarah Kate Ellis, president and CEO of GLAAD, in a press release announcing a selection of survey findings.
This marked shift is reflected in the shrinking of a group of respondents that GLAAD classifies as “allies” — those who say they are “very” or “somewhat” comfortable in all seven interpersonal situations tested. In 2016, 62 percent of young men ages 18-34 reported feeling comfortable in all seven LGBTQ situations; in 2018, that number dropped to 35 percent, although GLAAD did not say which or how many interpersonal situations saw a decline in support.
"The younger generation has traditionally been thought of as a beacon of progressive values," said Ellis said. "We have taken that idea for granted, and this year’s results show that the sharp and quick rise in divisive rhetoric in politics and culture is having a negative influence on younger Americans"
GLAAD’s findings support other recent surveys, including the PRRI survey, that show generalized support for LGBTQ equal rights remains strong. Their March survey found that nearly 70 percent of all Americans, with majorities across all religions, support “broad nondiscrimination protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.”
A recent poll from the Williams Institute at UCLA found about half of voters are less likely to support a candidate because they are over 70. Just 34 percent of respondents said they would be less likely to support a candidate because he or she is gay.
According to a review of Gallup polling about homosexuality, first queried in 1977, support for gay people continues to increase. In 1977, just 13 percent of Americans believed being gay or lesbian is innate; today that number is 49 percent. In 1977, 14 percent of people believed gay and lesbians should be allowed to adopt; today it is 75 percent. In 1977, 56 percent of respondents said gay people should have equal employment rights; today, 93 percent believe that.

The study is probably true and I can easily see why (people in my life seem to, like with other races, be becoming more and more hostile to everything abnormal), but this study could also have a bent to it if they want to make it look like homophobia is some major problem.

That was my read on it. No doubt the LGBT acceptance numbers are dropping (noT a doubT as To why), but this is just GLAAD shaking the collection can in this the week of the Stonewall 50th anniversary.

1. It's a guest comic, featured on Penny-Arcade. She was also in their reality-show for comic artists, if I'm not mistaken.
2. No, I don't think erika moen is mike krahuliks sister.
3. It's suggested that something like that comic actually happened.
4. I generally like to use erica moen comics to illustrate points, because despite being a filthy degenerate, she has pretty good self-introspection, or at least seems to have that without me knowing her. The joke of that comic is of course: "ha ha ha, I'm a terrible influence."

And she probably is.

With the more infamous one being the cuckolding one.

That fat chick artwork is realistic but very unpleasant to look at.

It's hard to support people who act like their allies are the enemy. I've lost a lot of trans friends because after they transitioned, they're suddenly uncomfortable with everyone. They lashed out at me if I asked a question or accidentally ruined the illusion by bringing up the subject of trans. It's an elephant in the room you aren't allowed to point out or you're transphobic and being supportive doesn't seem to do any good either.

The progressive stack ideology of victimization is intentionally polarizing. It was created to drive people apart, and introduced by the ruling elites of the intelligentsia to fragment the Occupy movement in 2009. Once Obama signed the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012 into law in 2013, allowing for the US government to deploy deceptive propaganda within the citizenry, all of that bullshit started to pop up more and more in major media outlets, as well as all the lefty rags. It's a poisonous ideology that works against the interests of any populist movement by creating a special class of parasites that gets free reign to order people around. People won't stand for it and conflict is inevitable.

I agree with the first, but not second, part of this.

IDpol are derisive, intentionally, yes. But it's NOT some conspiracy by the NWO to make us all fight among ourselves so they can put their master plan in action unnoticed. It's done because the social tinkerers thought that if you drove a wedge between groups of people, and gave them the choice "Join the RIGHT side with all the cool kids, or the WRONG side and be a pariah who won't even be able to show their face in public" that meaningful social change (i.e. - Trans rights, gay rights, third-wave feminism, et al) could be forced through in a matter of only a few years without having to spend decades building legislative consensus and guiding it through a hostile public and skeptical courts with slow but consistent and non violent legal pressure, like how same-sex marriage was passed. Yeah, that works, but it, like, takes 40 years.... ain't nobody got time for that! Why WAIT when you know you are RIGHT?!

it's why they worship Silicon Valley and Billion-Dollar tech firms, to them, THAT is the future, the mechanism by which wrongthink and baseless dissent against progress could finally, FINALLY be removed from society by third-parties that couldn't have their power checked by outdated courts and congresses full of those old, tired, and racist white men....

It was an attempt to arrogantly take a shortcut to that "right side of history" they're so sure was just around the corner, except, NOW!

Who needs oppressive laws when you can get your buddies in the tech industry to behave towards the populace as if they exist? You can't be jailed for saying "neck yourself, fag", but, if you can be instantly kicked off the internet for it by a private company, so you acquiesce as not lose your voice completely, is there any effective difference? Unpersoning you is cheaper than a jail cell anyway.. it's win-win!

The problem they never envisioned in all of this, though, was that a lot of people when only given the "cool kids" or "pariah" choice, would CHOOSE to stick to their beliefs and go pariah. ESPECIALLY if the middle ground is denied and YOU MUST pick a side, because when the stakes are THIS HIGH and society is on the VERGE OF UTOPIA we can't accept lukewarm support, CENTRISTS GET THE BULLET TOO!! That attitude only makes enemies out of otherwise apathetic people. And that furthermore, enough would go that route that the "wrong" group would eventually become big enough to not only survive and resist the movement, but actively push it back... as is happening now. With people deciding a lifetime without a personal selfie folder and never being able to play Candy Crush again is a fair trade when compared to living in a world that thinks prepubescent strippers are just fuckin' dandy.....

It was all a short-sighted gamble by arrogant and ill-informed social engineers to leverage the "new" tools of the 21st century, social media and the ability to effectively ban people from it, to mold the future of mankind NOW so not only could they start a social movement, but also, selfishly get to live in that new world AND get all the credit and riches for having brought utopia (as they saw it) to us..... none of this horseshit like only getting recognized posthumously after dying in a jail cell for your "cause".

They don't understand the dynamics of sacrifice, only the childish motivations of "want, tantrum, have"

The SJW is willing to die violently and as soon as possible for their cause, but the average non-fanatic is more than willing to live a quiet and nondescript life in service of same.

This whole miserable social experiment is failing because, once again, the socialists erroneously thought the latest round of new tech would finally put an end to that meddlesome human free will that keeps delaying their unachievable goal of complete, miserable, equality for EVERYONE regardless of want or need. So equal, in fact, that even GENDER has been mushed up into a uniform grey paste that's worn proudly by all, and anyone who thinks they are really a "man" or "woman" based on chromosomes is a dangerous subversive who needs purged.

That's all this is, really, progressive IDPOL is really just 21st Century eSocialsim, you will ALL THINK ALIKE or be sent to the eGulag. And the proles are finally revolting.

The progressive stack is one of the natural outcomes when you accept the ideology of "the most disadvantaged/oppressed is the one who has to be put on top", or even just the basic idea of equality of outcome. It means you are going in some shape or form going to give the most resources (whether speaking time or welfare or opportunities) to those who have the least, when there might be very important reasons why they have least and you wouldn't in any case want them near any real power. Not only does it create incentive for people to look as disabled and oppressed as possible (in a literal race to the bottom).

Though I can always appreciate people bringing up the smith-mundt modernization act and the US governments legal allowance to propagandize its own citizenry. Land of the free, lol.

Identity politics is actually a very valuable and necessary mechanism if you care about things more than just yourself and your family. The only good reason for opposing IDpol, in my opinion, is if you're able to deploy the idea to oppose identity politics within an identity that you want advocation strength to weaken for (in essence engaging in hostile identity politics against specific identities).

Actually, I'm half injun, so you have to agree with me.

edit: It's been noted before that all of these clickbait rags suddenly started gutting their opinion writers right around the time that the $200m in funds from Obama's 2016 Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act dried up at the end of 2018. I don't believe that it's coincidence. I think this is an operation on the US populous to try and separate the industrious but beleaguered workers from the rabble rousing fags who would have them eat the rich. Its a common enough tactic abroad, and what the empire does to others, it eventually does to itself.

Gee you think?

Maybe if you didn't shove your totals disregard for our society and its values in our faces at every opportunity and push to shock and horrify anyone less "queer" then you in every thing you do it might have gone better.

We agreed to let you live your creepy lives however you wanted but that wasn't enuff was it...we had to embrace and celebrate you fucking everything in any way all the while you pushed to have your shit taught in schools as a alternative lifestyle.

I've had enuff of your LBQTBBQWTFROLF lifestyles..just shut up already about who and/or what you fuck.

Not surprising. When you allow the crazies, degenerates and borderline criminals become the face of the movement, people start to go from the idea of agreeing with it to the reality that a number of these people are lunatics. The ideal gay couple are one which is no different that a normal couple. Instead, we get this line of thinking from them as to why people are shying away from them:

Exactly. Someone has a reasonable response that if you identify with a group that has nut cases or just plainly mean or bad people, they're not going to want to associate with your beliefs. I didn't become Christian by any efforts other than my own because 100% of the exposure I had to the faith was from people I wouldn't associate with even now.

I'd like to thing it's simply the politics. But I think it's corporation using politics as a tool. The religious right got too much pushback in the 90's and early 2000's. But if the megacorps get on the side of progressivism and leftism, you can do no wrong. You can offer your children up as sex workers and you can get away with it because megacorps and media institutions and individuals can get away with anything if you label the detractors as Nazis.

It's the ultimate marketing scheme for anything. You will watch the Nicklodean child porn channel and like it, otherwise you are a Nazi who denies human rights. And who wants to be a Nazi? Not you.... right?

No, they're still progressives, but they're progressing towards a future without pride parades.
