I don't really understand people who are mad with Jim for allowing his fanbase to give him money when they want to. Unless you're from the Godwinson school of thought where being an eceleb or making money via content on the internet is disgusting.

Pretty much all of the content creators that I follow have revenue streams via direct support or advertising except Godwinson and in Godwinsons case I'd be happy with him accepting cash to motivate him to put out more content like This Week in Nectar or whatever. While streaming and making videos isn't an inherently hard job I do appreciate the time and effort someone puts in to create something that is compelling. Jim could go the easy route do really long low effort streams but much of the time the people and events that he covers are fresh and entertaining.

Jim is acutely aware that his period of relevance is not going to last forever, all of your favourite edgy content creators will be cleansed from the internet and also unable to make any money from their endeavors. Jim would be an idiot to not monetise his fanbase.
