You could actually argue that what was said/meant on the page is that Vic is raising money for the incoming legal defenses from the defendants, since they're apparently not backing down and settling. Nick even says in the GoFundMe page:

Right, I think they're conflating the "for the purpose of intimidation by burdening with cost" with the "no valid, actionable defamation." The first is merely circumstance unrelated to law, the second is the legally relevant part. The ONLY way to win under TCPA is to prove the second portion.

There's nothing illegal even about deliberately spending someone to death with the full intention of financially ruining them. That's what Peter Thiel did to Gawker via the vehicle of Hulk Hogan. It would only have been illegal if the suit were frivolous or filed for an improper collateral advantage. It wasn't. Hulk Hogan had an entirely valid, nonfrivolous cause of action, as every court to look at it and the jury thought, and the purpose of Hulk's suit was to make Gawker pay for what they did to him.
