I wasn’t going to say anything, but I must ask: what will happen to the killer after he wakes up? Will he end up in a psychiatric prison ward because he tried to kill himself too, or just a normal prison?
I wonder if it’d make a difference in sentencing if it was an attempt at a murder/suicide.
Not from the same country, so I’m curious if anyone knows the laws regarding these type of things.

I mean it wouldn't surprise me if he tries to BS his way into a regular prison as opposed to a psychiatric one, despite a fair bit of information indicating that it was a premeditated murder. I don't know about the psychology of guys like him, but it seems like he was more sorry that he got caught and therefore tried to end it all.

I don't know a lot about murder-suicides, but considering their relationship and how clearly premeditated the murder was, among many other factors, I don't think it was your garden variety murder-suicide.
