My inference from that comment was that her raising of the complaint also promtped ADV to investigate him and it was likely found inconclusive.

ADV went defunct in 2009, though, and by that point they were FAR past their prime of anime releases. Just when exactly did this investigation take place?

If it took place before the alleged assault in 2007, and she'd complained in the past, why was she still associating with him?

Is she naming ADV because they're defunct and she believes there's no one left to deny that claim? That was the big standout moment of her deposition for me.
They practically ARE Sentai, with at least one of the original ADV execs still in a position of power. From what I understand they basically acquired several Texas based media/entertainment companies, restructured, and then renamed themselves. It's always been the source of a lot of confusion, with even industry insiders not knowing exactly what happened. One quote about the restructuring I saw, which was admittedly from ANN, IIRC, said it was basically like ADV selling itself to itself, or some shit.

Just did a little digging.

Despite remaining in operation until 2009, ADV Films begun offsetting their anime licenses in January 2008.

I presume this to mean that they stopped dubbing new shows in, at the very latest, 2007 - the same year of Monica's allegations chronologically beginning.

IzumiCon 2007 occurred on Nov 2-4, 2007, meaning there was the space of a little under two months between this happening, Monica letting them know, and ADV suspending operations entirely.

The timeline as to when she made her allegations known to ADV, when ADV launched an investigstion, and when she was made aware that ADV had launched said investigation regarding Vic is...vexing.

If an investigation was already launched, then her whole 'I was hoping it was just a one-time thing' wouldn't make any sense, because he would, to her, have already been accused by others for these acts beforehand.

This might be worth keeping an eye on.

Oh, did I say 2010? I meant the con in 2011. Er, one of them wasn't there in 2011? I meant .. uhm.
Blocked.
Worse, once she was told Vic wasn't at that con in 2010 she "corrected" her story to say it was in 2009, even earlier.
My question from that is how did she know he was investigated at ADV and "not allowed on property" at Sentai? Monica said she spoke to ADV films about Vic. Was this before or after the investigation she claims that ADV did about Vic? Sentai is essentially the a restructured ADV, so did this carry over from the ADV days?

Seems to me, she has been gunning for him for a while.
It's obvious people in the industry have been talking about Vic behind his back for many years, passing rumors about him in the same way the fans have. I think she was repeating some of those dumb work rumors as facts, like when she said Tara Sands (whose name Vic didn't even recognize when he was asked about her) told her Vic had been investigated elsewhere. "Vic's been banned from the grounds of Sentai" sounds like stupid gossip that she's pretending to believe is true. Then she'll claim it wasn't a lie because it's what she was told.

This completely ignores the fact that it's long-standing culture that women like older men. Men like older women, too, it's not even a sex-specific thing. As long as the person in question seems mature, doesn't look too heavily aged, and is some measure of successful, they can be classified as 'sexy'. 17 year olds drooled over Alan Rickman when he was 70, and he didn't even age as gracefully as most of the older sex symbol men these women get paired up to with movies. (Although for some reason he played a 30 year old. Might have been JKR being hot for him too) He just had so much class - and a deep voice - that they didn't care.

They don't really publicize it but it goes like this:

A fan came up to Sabat's autograph table somewhere before s2 started and showed him part of episode one, which Sabat found delightful. He went back and watched the entire series in his hotel room and became an instant fan of it. This isn't an unusual reaction, as a lot of the dub stars enjoyed the idea of poking fun at the old dub. Only notably Sean hated it, and you get three guesses why.

Sabat at some point contacts them, I think via email, and lets them know that he thinks their work is cool.

Takahata101, voice of Nappa and later Cell, attends a panel about Dragonball Kai which Sabat hosts, and his question pokes fun at the similarities between the concept of Kai and Abridged. When Sabat recognizes Takahata (then in full Nappa cosplay) he calls him up to the front of the room and does the "WHAT 9000?!" meme with him. This is notable because Sabat had by this point gotten absolutely sick of fans demanding he repeat it (the one who originally said this line was Brian Drummond, and Sabat didn't understand why he was being asked to say it for a while, then entertained it until he got sick of it after a year or so and started subverting the line whenever asked for it).

Sabat mentions he thinks DBZA is brilliant because it does what 'we all wish we could do but can't' with the original dub. Sean hates it a lot. Sean really hates it when people ask him to quote it.

Around this time TFS is struggling with Youtube and keeps jumping to different places to be hosted, such as TGWTG, and two different websites of their own that don't really work out no matter how hard they try to shill it. They also get big enough that they start getting invited to conventions as guests.

TFS makes a connection with Littlekuriboh, creator of Yugioh Abridged and the one who spawned that entire genre, because his accounts keep getting banned so they host his content on their various sites.

TFS makes AoT Abridged episode 1. The series is immediately cancelled, and I think the episode might even get taken down. It's suggested that Japan side was about to nuke them from orbit if they attempted to continue.

Sabat secretly plays a part in one of DBZA's movies (The Return of Cooler, I believe, same one that got the Borderlands actor) under a screenname. No one knows it's him until TFS hints that people should google his penname.

Teamfourstar relocates a chunk of its members to Texas, and opens up a Patreon to fund an independent studio. When they open it, Sabat attends their housewarming/studio warming party, though he's only referenced in passing.

Sabat plays narrator for Broly movie abridged. Around this time, TFS starts getting lines in localizations of DBZ Xenoverse games (Male voice 8 is Takahata101, and TFS were given complete freedom to write his lines), Kaiserneko gets a brief cameo in Return of F, Kaiser, Takahata, and Lani get three different voices in Xenoverse 2, same rules apply. TFS starts getting hired to do legitimate dubbing for minor projects.

TFS is brought in to redub the parody scene of the Cellgames with the puppets during the World Tournament. Rather than the original jokes which were all about the bad dubbing tropes at the time, the jokes are replaced with Abridged series jokes.

The preview of this episode is released, including a clip from that scene.

Toei comes down with the force of five thousand suns upon Funimation immediately and yanks that episode so fast they can't even redub it, so that section gets released with the original dubbing audio instead of having a new Kai voice track. All mention and reference to that TFS dubbed thing is scrubbed from official record, including all reruns of the original episode's preview.

Somehow that scene gets leaked to the internet anyway, proving that people who originally saw that hadn't gone insane and it wasn't just a myth.

A secondary bit of proof is left over: Lanipator's Krillin voice actually remains in the episode, but only as the 'intro' to the video. Some people think it's because he's not playing the character he does in the abridged version, but I suspect Toei just missed it, because it's an irrelevant line.

Some time after s2, every time DBZA or YGOA gets Toei-nuked, Funimation steps in immediately and fixes it within a day or so. The only exception so far was part 3 (I think) of episode 60(?), the finale of season 3. It's not clear why they had so much trouble with that episode in particular. They've also stated that they would be reamed by Toei if they tried to abridge Super, but they make little clips of it anyway.

Incidentally, they always credit 'Funimation' for protecting them, giving them ins, or providing them various jobs, but it's pretty clear to anyone who pays attention that what happened is Chris Sabat took a liking to DBZA and decided to protect it.

Sean still insists that he doesn't like DBZA because Funimation disapproves of it, despite the fact that it obviously doesn't.

Christians don't have priests, Shane. You dullard.

Death Battle has been garbage and skating by on nostalgia for years now. If they're too stupid to realize what a bad idea it is to release an Edward Elric DB right now, they deserve the crap that's going to rain down on them.

Bravo. You're a champ for providing more context on the oft-parroted "DBZA is only alive cuz of Sabat".

Before they went protected they had videos up of them singing at a Con as well as one that I think was at Roosterteeth that was for a chance at voice acting. They post about RWBY all the time as well. Their tumblr was all covers of anime songs which is funny because if your trans with an intention to go on HRT as a FTM your voice will go to shit, so. Smells like they were hoping to get exposure and a foot in the door. I made up a story Monica-Senpai! help me get a job in the industry!

Original name was Lauren.

*shrug* worked for TFS seeing as someone showed Chris Sabat their stuff and he thought it was good. What, they were expecting to be Monica’s protégés?

It also appears that she was born in either late 1999 or 2000, making her 10, or in the worst case 9 years old. Either way, no 9 or 10 year old looks like they're 16 or older. I also refuse to believe a kid that age was fully developed.

I still don't know why Tammi ran a blatantly faulty investigation and approved Vic's firing over nothing, though. It probably traces back to Sabat somehow.

Tammi got used by people at Funimation to provide a (shitty) paper trail that "justifies" their decision. What got put down on paper was that she found the accusations "credible".

Like, I wouldn't be surprised if some bullshit got fed to her like "we just need to know whether the allegations are credible for deciding whether or not to sanction Ms. Rial for harassing HR complaints", so Tammi Denbow sends over an email documenting that she thinks the story is at least "credible" without recommending any further action against any employee and hoping that the whole thing gets buried.

Probably Carey. I'm certain half the reason for having her do Monica's deposition is so that it wouldn't appear that a big tough man was bullying the poor victim. Carey also seems a lot better at coaxing answers out of Monica with surgical precision, which works better since Monica's a lot smarter than her boy/girlfriend.

Just to point out in earlier talk with Nick Ty identified Carey as one of the team leaders for depositions in general. It's not that they brought her in. She normally takes the lead in depos. Ty doing Ron was the more unusual event. Probably because they wanted to rattle Ron and get him to act like the cuck that he is.

People are saying that Vic has been dropped from Liberty City Anime Con. He's been entirely removed from their site, including their schedule.

I would agree. I also suspect that Ron would have been fawning over Carey like some lovestuck schoolboy trying to weasel his way into her good graces. I don’t believe she would, but I’ve seen cucks try a lot of virtue signalling get even against women as opponents. It would have been disgusting to watch.

Having Ty doing the deposition shuts down that, and we see Ron snivel and squirm against someone who is, let’s admit it, Chuck Norris level masculine.

Stop believing the Lying Liar Wut Lies. The only information regarding any ADV investigation or a Sentai ban from the property is Monica Rial. The same single source that literally EVERYTHING in this entire case tracks back to. And the full magnitude of it all hasn't hit her. I'm betting Casey shit himself regarding the Sentai and ADV claims. Because they can be disproven fairly easily. In the case of the claim of Vic being banned from Sentai's property, it almost certainly will be absolutely denied by Sentai Management. Because saying it was true opens them up to lawsuit. There is no legal risk in politely saying "we have no disciplinary reports or polices regarding Vic". She just likely perjured herself and created the perjury trap all on her own practically unprompted via her embellishments. That's what a really spectacular liar does.

It looks like the jellybean incident happened at Colassalcon 2013. Vic was at a table in 'area 1,' monica was at 'area 3.' Obviously there was some distance between them. So how the hell could Vic be touching Monica's hair during the jellybean thing like she claimed he did in deposition?

When Nick first told the jellybean story he said Monica 'threw' the jellybean to Vic, which would be an odd thing to make up if he was lying. So I think monica is full of it.

One thing bugged me about Monica rials testimony. She kept referring to Anime fans as "children", but they really are not. This goes doubly true for the fans who go to conventions.

Because she looks down on all of us (weebs, that is).
She took a lot of condescending tones in that deposition. That isn't going to go over well for a jury - makes her more unlikable than she already is. Same thing could be said against her comments about religion.

Wouldn't be entirely surprised if it's a ploy to make vic bedding fans seem like a pedo thing.
dont think she thinks that far. Its most likely from a disdain of the fans. You see the same shit with woke Comics pros. Everyone who disagree is either a racist, mysoginost bigot. Or a wee child who cant possibly understand the complexity of life.

Even after Liberty City Con seemingly capitulated to her, she is still telling people not to attend.
