I haven't ranted about Vade's headmate situation before. Let me rectify that.
Snowflakes like Vade that have "headmates" and are "part of a multiple system"
really piss me off. It's so beyond obvious that they're just playing pretend with their imaginary friends. For fuck's sake, Vade only ever lets her headmates "front" like once a month and that's only after she realizes that she hasn't done so in a while. And as we've established, all of her headmates type and act
exactly like she does. The only time we ever know someone else is at the helm is when "Tero" goes on about hating humans more often than Vade does or when that annoying, fake-ass "happy" persona is perkier than Vade is. In reality, people with multiple personalities have
very little in common between their identities; it really is like having separate people living in your head.
Schizophrenia and Dissociative Identity Disorder are not fucking jokes. They're some of the most severe and debilitating mental illnesses known to man. Most people who suffer from them spend their lives locked up in psych wards to prevent them from hurting themselves or others. DID in particular is very horrifying; the vast majority of people who have DID suffered
extreme trauma in the past. DID is sometimes referred to as the mind's ultimate defense system; it suffers something so traumatic that the psyche literally splits itself in an attempt to dissociate from the memories. Think "repressed memories" times a hundred. Not only that, people with DID have (for the most part) no control over which identity takes over; it happens automatically and without warning. There's no "Oh, Fluffles is gonna front for a while, see you later!" It just happens. A lot of people with DID "wake up" in completely different places without any knowledge as to how they got there. That's pretty terrifying, if you ask me.
Schizophrenia is no walk in the park, either. People with schizophrenia can have auditory hallucinations, or voices in their heads. This is a pretty fucking serious issue. Oh, and nobody said anything about those voices being
pleasant. More often than not, the voices are horribly abusive, frightening, and cruel; imagine hearing "Kill yourself, you worthless cunt" or "You're ugly, fat, disgusting, useless, and everyone hates you"
in your own head for hours. There aren't friendly conversations about who's going to front, it's not a big party in your head, or anything like that. It's a horrible, disturbing, and painful existence. There's a reason why
a ton of schizophrenic people attempt suicide. Quite a few of them succeed, too. They've lost touch with reality to the point where they'd rather end it all than keep going.
That's why "headmates" and "natural multiplicity" piss me off so much. DID and schizophrenia are some of the most misunderstood illnesses out there; DID hasn't really even been established as a "legitimate" mental disorder because it's so controversial. Vade and her ilk aren't helping
at all. And like I said, Vade is so half-assed with her attempt at being "multiple" that it's a wonder that even her asspatters believe her. And honestly, I only think a handful of them actually do. In my opinion, the majority of them just humor her because they don't want to be seen as close-minded bigots.
