Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

A lot of the Olive Garden obsession comes from around 2008, when it suddenly became popular for hipster to 'ironically' go to Olive Garden. Which is fine, go eat your unlimited soup salad and breadsticks and spout some buzzwords from the college classes your parents paid about the experience for while you continue to live in an overpriced city trying to 'make it' with your shit writing,

The ironic treatment of going to Olive Garden as a horrible experience evolved into people unironically developing weird dislikes for the place and the people who go there because shitting on OG was something popular people did.
Anyone who actually dislikes Olive Garden/shits on people just for enjoying going there can be safely ignored as, at best, they're a fucking elitist moron.

Edit: Same for Applebees. I have never in my life said 'You know where I want to go? Applebee's' but when I've gone - either because it was right there when we were hungry, someone else wanted to go, or it was the only thing open - I have never had a bad meal there either.

I thought the Olive Garden hate all started with Conan O'Brien joking about them? Which would have been around 2004 or so.

The SJW lack of humour is such a red flag, all fundamentalists lack humour and refuse to allow mockery. . The really nasty fundamentalists crack down on it to the extent of obliterating anyone who pokes fun at them.

When you find a movement, person or religion that won’t take even the gentlest of jibes with good grace you should be on alert.

SJWs are humourless Puritan fundies.

May be backlash be swift and the Restoration fun

So bizarre that we live in an age of "left wing fundamentalism" but here we are.

Won't somebody please think of the illegal aliens!?

That brings up a point. Was flipping between news channels a few days ago and landed on MSNBC interviewing some human rights lawyer about the border issue. Lawyer went into a good 2 minute spiel on the subject and used the term "illegal immigrants" a couple of times. The host, directly afterwards completely ignored the overall statement that was being made, and said something along the lines of "Just want to point out that we don't use that term here. Here, we refer to them as undocumented citizens". Then they cut to break and when they came back the lawyer was missing from the discussion.

I remember there was a big shift quite a number of years ago where politicians tried to shift from calling them illegal aliens/immigrants to undocumented blah blah, but this is the first time I've seen a news host completely ignore the argument to correct the verbiage and then completely move on like that. Is that seriously where they are at now? Simply stunning.

That's pretty insanely blatant yeah, as well as the shift from "undocumented immigrants" to "undocumented citizens". That's beyond open borders to sheer conspiracy theorist grade globalist.

I'm sure that would really help the tech censorship debate and make twitter's investors really happy.

It's not like Trump would move somewhere else.

I think he could hypothetically sue and win and demand reinstatement of his account if they banned him, under the same (flawed, IMHO) logic that the Reeesistors got a court to agree to - "Anything the President touches on the internet becomes public domain, so, banning is a first Amendment violation, so he can't block your shitposting that you THINK is some great political accomplishment"

Seems to me that would also work in reverse - " You cannot unplug the Presidential Twitter Feed on a whim as it is protected as a public forum for necessary political discourse"

But IANAL and the subject of what is Constitutional protected in the swampy maelstrom of Social Media hasn't been fully fleshed out by the courts yet, so what do I know? I do know that if the tempreature of the nation right now as far as online speech aligns with how your average Judge thinks, a LOT of the grey-area algorithmic shenanigans and because-we-can TOS violation bans are going to come back to haunt Silicon Valley.

Once again, the left not only creates their own monsters, but has no memory that they did it when it comes back seeking vengeance.

It's always hilarious to read comments on stories about how Trump's approval rating is creeping up.

Invariably the reason given is that the media is not properly holding him accountable and that they beat around the bush with euphemisms like 'racially charged' instead of flat out calling him 'racist.'

I'm over here thinking to myself, 'Y'all really think his numbers are rising because the media doesn't call him racist enough?' As usual they've got it almost bass ackwards. The more they cry racism, the more people tune them out, the more the Trump's accomplishments can speak for themselves and the higher his numbers go.

Less is more is not a thought that crosses their minds. Not even once. Why is the left the same everywhere? Over in Britain they're dealing with Boris Derangement Syndrome. If not for Trump Derangement Syndrome coverage of him would be unprecedented and the most hostile in the world.

I think the military have a term for this: "stuck on stupid".

The mainstream media feel embattled and endangered. Their prestige wanes, their control of the narrative is slipping. At such times, many groups will entrench, fail to think of anything new, and keep trying the same dumb thing that isn't working but turn up the volume.

History is a reeking graveyard of groups who tried this.

I thought the Olive Garden hate all started with Conan O'Brien joking about them? Which would have been around 2004 or so.

The hate for Olive Garden began when the chain started it's first major nation-wide ad campaign in the late 90s. It both shilled Olive Garden as an "authentic Italian cuisine" restaurant while at the same time, shilling itself for cheapskates by way of the "unlimited appetizers" sales ploy to lure people in.

It was crass and produced mix messages about what kind of joint they were, especially since in those early years they leaned heavy onto the former to sell Olive Garden to the masses who didn't know much/very little about Italian cuisine.

Mad TV did a really good send up of Olive Garden and it's weird fixation of trying to pass itself as both classy and working class friendly.

That's funny, because I do remember 12 year old me, at the first time I ever ate at one, thinking it was meant to be some classy joint.

If you want an Italian chain that's actually pretty damn good (though keep in mind, I'm not an expert) check out Carrabba's.

I don't hate Olive Garden but it's definitely got nothing on Carrabba's.

Fanatics do not question their actions or do things in moderation.
It's kinda of the defining trait of Fanatics.
Mix in some Secular Millenarianism, every setback is temporary and the Righteous will be rewarded when Judgement Day the End of History comes, and Secular Manichaeism, extreme black and white thinking, oppressed vs. oppressor, Good vs. Evil.
And voila you have modern Liberalism.
Of course to paraphrase the Bible "Don't worship men and manmade ideologies. They are fallible and mortal and they will disappoint you."
Goes a long way to explaining why Leftists are so miserable. And why they don't understand the other side and it's rising approval ratings.
